When will we have banana fritters at Wongs?

Still curious about the alleged renovations

Not big on the fried bananas myself.

The renovation just basically opened the place up and gave it light and more access to the passers by.

Not surprising....I think they still use the same chopsticks they had on opening day in 1958

Actually, the place has a new bright look and I think it might be paying dividends for the owners.

I went past yesterday and congratulated Steven on the new look and I'll certainly pop in for a feed one lunchtime in the near future.

But I won't be using the chopsticks because, quite frankly, I'm no good at that sort of thing. I always say that if god meant us to eat with chopsticks then we would all have been born with two long fingers.

Spoon and fork for me.

Just make a time & let's do it. I was there again last week. Wong's Rocks.

This is probably not the thread for it but the Melbourne Victory must be close to the worst run Senior club in Australia ( then again the Melbourne tigers might give them a run ) at present.

They go through coaches like there is no tomorrow.

Sack the coach that has won them 2 flags

His replacment is replaced half way through a season.

The third and current coach has no contract past this year and starts talking about changing players but may not be there for the next season.

They are on their third FD in less than a year.

Perhaps it is not the coaching staff that is the problem

The board it seems to me should resign on mass and give someone else a go as they are obviously not up to the job.

I watched a bit of their game yesterday and I reckon they're tanking.

As long as they don't recruit a kid with wonky knees and a fat father next year, they'll come good very quickly.

I know very little about soccer WJ but they do not appear to have a back line in addition to a hopeless board.

I know less about soccer than you do but their defence looked pretty shoddy. Kevin Muscat was a big loss at the end of last season but he was a bit of a loose screw in the latter stages of his career.

You should all be following Melbourne Heart the new boys. I am not a soccer fan but have seen them play live a couple of times and they have a go. Also my mate is an owner/director and that is another reason I follow them.

I'm thinking of going to at least one of the interstate games this year. Anyone know how far the La Grande apartments on the corner of Mitchell and Knuckey Streets, Darwin is from the Marara Oval?

Marrara would be about 12km or so from the town centre. The ground is on the northern side of the airport (entrance just past the airport terminal entrance). See the map.

There are plenty of buses going to the ground from the city centre on the night. Car parking is easy.

Righto then I would enjoy to share the lunch at Wongs Cafe (404 Glenhuntly Rd Elsternwick) for the controversial Banana Banquet lunch with any fellow Demonlanders before we play the Doggies at the G before round 4..Sunday, April 22nd.....game starts at 4.40pm.

I will be taking full advantage of the low corkage surcharge. They also have dishes without bananas.

If there is some interest let me know, if too many show up unannounced Steven may get rattled...but I doubt it

I don't follow either Redleg, the game frustrates me.

I doubt I will ever get keen about soccer, spent too much of my life on AFL.

Probably my loss not soccers'

The Victory board fasinates me much more than the game.

I am with you O.D. The Melbourne Victory Board are the most incompetent bunch of toothless Clowns i have read about in years...They should be leading the pack by so far it is not funny. Ernie Merrick would be having a top giggle, and good luck to him.

I think I heard he is coaching in HK.

Probably getting paid 5 times as much as he was in Melbourne.

There is one thing the Victory board cannot do.

They cannot change the fact that Ernie won 2 flags.

It will be a very long time before that is equalled.

I suspect long after the current board has been shown the door.

Exactly...i like Ernie...he was straight down the line. Victory have the most members and biggest crowds in a growing league...They should be ashamed at top level..Muscat as a coach....enough said.

Not a bad idea.

Please remind us closer to the time of the game Ravi.

You can be table captain.

bureaucracy at its worst

We will will have to wait for the Queens Birthday Honours list, we are sure to be there.

A win over the Pies would be a nice bonus before we head to Government House.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. TRAINING: Wednesday 13th November 2024

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers braved the rain and headed down to Gosch's paddock to bring you their observations from the second day of Preseason training for the 1st to 4th Year players. DITCHA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I attended some of the training today. Richo spoke to me and said not to believe what is in the media, as we will good this year. Jefferson and Kentfield looked big and strong.  Petty was doing all the training. Adams looked like he was in rehab.  KE

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
