This has been done to death, but how could Prendergast draft Cook with our first pick and 2 years later not one single club even rookies him, when we delist him.

I was told that the other recruiters were stunned when he took Cook at 12.

That is but one mistake of many he made.

I accept that recruiting is not an exact science, but he has left us in this dire position, because of his poor performance.

I am just so angry.

Like you Redleg it will take me sometime to "Get over it" as WJ suggests.

I think my time frame is probably 3 years.

That is min. time I think it is going to take to escape from this list.

Well guys i had a good weekend up in Bendigo.

Five mates and I got together and chewed the fat about our long gone youth.

Visited a few old Haunts, we had one wife chauffeur us around to a few pubs we used to frequent.

Not to many beers and we all retired around mid night after a night cap single malt.

All up for brunch with wives, some of the children and grand children.

Almost a great weekend.

The downer was our old team Eaglehawk who were on top of the ladder got done by 11 goals.

It must be me!!!!

Home yesterday afternoon.

Then the crap sets is

Dees are officially the worst team in the competition and Casey could not beat time with a stick.

I learn't a couple of thinks over the weekend.

- My old cronies team is suffering the passing of time, we drank a quarter of what we would have 45 years ago

- there is way more to life than the MFC.

Glad to hear it was a good trip, OD. I am a native of Bendigo myself, but left when I was a baby, and have no connection there now. Should auld acquaintance be forgot .... (dimly recalls singing that in the distant past :-))

With apolgies to Redleg

I return after my "Return to the past" last night to find much nashing of teeth, angry and dismay by a large number of Dees supporters.

I am believe it or not quite surprised.

It is not as though it came out of the blue, in fact we have been heading down hill rapidly since the later part of 2011.

This seaon has been worse than even my low expectations and I honestly expected to get beaten on saturday by 6 goals

which I think was what I said on Friday.

So in all honesty what is the big surprise guys?

What with all the angry?

The totally expected happened.

Not feeling sick anymore. Now I just feel sad.

Please don't tell me it is a new feeling Redleg.

I am confident you have felt this way for some time.

I guess suspecting we are the worst team and having it shoved up your nose with a 6 goal loss is another thing.

In all honest I have largely been resigned to our fate for some time now.

I have no expections so little worry at present.

Believe it or not the only thing keeping me interested are a number of you on Demonland.

Thanks guys.

Of course I'm disappointed the team lost. Of course I'm sick of losing. Of course I hate our drafting.

But when you play against a team whose draft picks in the last two years have been:

2011

#1 Patton

#2 Coniglio

#3 Tyson

#4 Hoskin-Elliott

#5 Buntine

#7 Haynes

#9 Tomlinson

#10 Sumner

#11 Greene

#13 Adams

#14 Smith

2012

#1 Whitfield

#2 O'Rourke

#3 Plowman

Plus T$, Ward etc. there's got to be a time when they stop being easybeats.

No doubt. You can also add in Cameron, Treloar, Shiel, Davis, Hampton, etc, etc, etc.

come on guys they should still be so far behind us that they would not be able to hear the band.

Right now they beat us because of our [censored] ups not they good work.

This wasnt about them ceasing to be easy beats. This wasnt even about beating them narrowly nor was it about their winning in a close contest.

THEY SMACKED OUR BUMS !!!

That's not quite right. While as usual we turned it over, they worked hard to get the ball and then ran away from us. Their pace and skill killed us. That comes from having a bunch of talented kids who are prepared to work hard.

There is not the slightest doubt that GC and GWS have been given the opportunity to dominate in a few years.

Unfortunately for us, they came in when we were down and combined with atrocious drafting and development, we are now in our current position.

That is what I am saying if we had used our picks well from 2006 well and had a win at all costs attitude we would be 8 spots above them in the competition.

Instead we are easy beats for a side that had not won a game this year or looked like winning one till they hit us.

Why? They've got far more talent than we've got. A lot of their super-talented 2011 picks have now got 20-30 games. Pity players like Viney, Kent, Toumpas, Fitzpatrick and Gawn haven't built that much experience. Yet we all expect them to be winners.

I'm not saying we shouldn't have won, but if you want to suggest that they are still easybeats you are mistaken. Let's see how much we lose by to the other 'easybeats' this weekend?

In 3-4 years every team will be lamenting how much of a leg-up these two new franchises have been given.

Since 2006 the majority of our picks have been duds.

We picked them no one else.

In 2009 everyone cosidered us to be ahead of Richmnod and having low picks before GWS came in would make us a power house before GWS got going.

Guess who is more likely to be a power house now.

No prizes it is Richmond.

Please stop trying to blame others it is the 100% fault of the MFC that we find ourselves where we are.

Please stop trying to blame others

Who said I'm trying to blame others? GWS has a team of up-and-coming stars, we haven't largely because of our own ineptitude.

I'm just suggesting that we can't think of GWS (or the Gold Coast) as an automatic win, even now. Clearly that's not the case. There's also a few other teams that GWS will beat on their home turf.

I just get tired of it always being that some one else that is to blame Maurie.

We have over the last seven years picked the wrong players, the wrong coaches and the wrong Chiefs.

We now own the result of these blunders.
