Red, the minute someone does that, interrupt back with... Hang on a sec...just need a drink. Doesnt matter if you already have one either. You just walk away ( and not back !! lol )

So you don't think I should answer with, " what makes you think I am interested in this at a party or at any time for that matter".

Maybe I will just adopt your suggestion, it will be simpler.

I have a new pet hate.

On saturday night,at a party I attended, a bloke I know merely in passing, interrupted my conversation with some other guys, to spend about 15 minutes telling me of his latest court case and all the machinations thereof. My only comment to him before this began was "hello".

I should have asked him what did I say or do, or what in my body language gave him the idea that I wanted 15 minutes of my life stolen without permission.

What is it with people who just blurt out there life to you, without being asked and then reciprocate by asking you nothing of your own life. I have had enough and the next person who does it to me, will get a sharp rebuke and can watch my back as I walk away.

did he keep saying "I love you mate" regularly?

if so i think i have met the same guy

next time interrupt him and introduce him to bbo's sister

Is the lack of manners in society getting worse

Or am I getting less tolerant?

Both.

it is easier :)

less annoyance...you remain calm , in control and seemingly happy. The idiot will just be standing there for 10 mins...lol

If he decides to follow...and start over...just.. quietly into his direction....one word "NO" with a smile :)

Why waste the smile?

Why waste the smile?

its more disarming, more confusing.....its fun lol !!

Both.

Probably spot on Redleg.

After I typed the preceding I considered adding that.

My wife would say it is all part of the ageing process, which may be true

However I am confident it is part of a bigger society problem.

"self obsession"

did you try yawning a lot?

if that fails snoring with your eyes closed whilst standing generally works?

p.s. don't worry about bbo's sister's phone number.

just have her photo handy and tell the guy she will be here soon and you would like him to meet her

youre just a grumpy ol geezer Old..... just like me and the rest of us !! lol

I know I am less tolerant now Bb ( read as grumpy )

I am sure that as we age we have an increasing intolerance to things we have been fighting sometimes all our lives.

Send him a bill for legal counsel.

Im actually starting to notice this in myself. At the same time whilst I appreciate sereneness and calm I have no particular interest in allowing stupidity of others etc to be either condoned or gotten away with.

Its just plain amazing how few ppl get the most minimal of things right.

Not us of course

Had the same problem with my former profession of which I am now retired.....

I always found that a smoke was needed at that time.....and a good escape route as no one else smokes these days....

Spot on bb

I am surprised so many have worked out breathing and continue to hold on to the skill.

An ex boss ( actually liked him )told me " I was only born with so many heart beats and I am not wasting any of them on him"

Seems a reasonable philosophy to me.

Have been there a number of times over the last 35 years for both work and pleasure.

Guess what it is my belief that like Australia it has got worse over that time frame.

Interesting item about this subject and the USA.

Three years ago in Hawaii I went to Pearl harbour / Missouri battleship and wore a black baseball type cap.

Totally by accident it had "HMAS Ballarat FFH_155" and a picture of the ship on it. Given to me by a friend.

I could not work out why I was getting the Royal treatment all day.

In the Bus on the way home an american of my dads vintage said to me where did you serve?

Suddenly hit me.

The Bloody cap they they thought I was a veteran.

Veterans still get get big support.

She's lazy and I'm thinking of retiring her.

Anyway-shes far too educated for my liking.

Heirs and Graces.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
