Just found the scoop of the year. For all those worried about bruising their fruit, Domayne have a "banana hanger" and at a bargain basement price of $11.95. Be quick because after this there will certainly be a run on them.

This is dreadful doggerel verse I'll admit, but I offer it as a warning to you sicko born again banana evangelists.

Banana Poem

A long time ago, when the world was young
Someone put some food on their tongue
They tasted the food, and thought it was nice
Most fruit liked it - but banana's thought twice.

They held a meeting at quarter past eight
Whilst the human's were getting home late
They decided they didn't want to be eaten
they said "No way, we're not going to be beaten"

So time went by, and human's got old
Banana's got ready, for their prophets had told
That soon shall come the dawn of war.
Where humans will rule the earth no more.

The humans knew not of the evil banana's plans
They made their cars, guitars and aluminum cans
And the banana's began to take over the east
While humans knew not, and kept having their feast.

But time has run out, no more hiding there can be
Or else the banana's will kill George, you and me
We must take up arms, and fight to the end
Because, believe it or not, a banana is not a friend.

My god Bbo has the hot weather hit already in Romsey?

to like Basil Rathbone shows there is still a flicker of hope there Bbo.

Hang in there this will pass about 4.30PM on March 31st 2013

Still in Brisbane trying to work out how to get out of the scrape we're in but I'm hopeful of being able to get out and visit the cheap rent hotel that CS, DM et al stayed at when they snared Mitch Clark. I hear its a bit of a tourist attraction in Brizvegas.

make sure you visit a banana plantation jack, (but only after you have recovered the tape of course)

I must say todays narcotic rations given to our senior citizens are a credit to the cartels they came from.

Hunter S Thompson would be proud of todays written contribution thus far.

do i win a trip to havana?

if you wish but i take no responsibility for your wellbeing. At your own peril...But good luck the Tequila is fantastic.

I have just read four threads.

What a depressing lot.

We are truly at each others throats at present.

With the exception of this wonderful thread I think I need to find somewhere else to amuse myself over the next few weeks.

Because Demonland is depressing the crap out of me.

Feeling really sick to day, at one stage I thought I had a kidney stone. Now think it may have been a bad banana I ate.

reminds me of a friend Reg, he always blamed a bad bottle of beer on all his gastronomic ailments (which were many)

he didn't believe people who told him he couldn't live on peanuts (and grog)

Hope your friend is feeling better.

WJ and I are off the love boat now and on the Gold Coast for a few days. We will be dropping in to the GC Suns to see how things are progressing there. They are close to Ashmores Steak House where you can apparently get a great plate of Moreton Bay Bugs.

It's actually Ashmore Steak and Seafood but if you're suffering from Bali belly, I'm not sure that Moreton Bay Bugs is necessarily what you need to add to the system.

Poor old old dee is already depressed today. Don't add to his woes or anyone else's.

I suggest you take my advice and watch that programme I recommended to you on SBS tonight just after 10. It should give most of us a lift.

BTW, only four negative posts is light on for depressing news around here, isn't it?

Interesting problem bad bottles of beer.

I have felt poorly quite a few times in my life and I am sure it was the last stubbie that was off!

You would think WJ that after all my years on this planet I would be used to the "human condition" but alas some days I succumb.

Fortunately on most occasions I throw it off when something positive happens.

Thank god for this thread!

Very good dc

Glad to see early 2013 has you in good form.

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
