We actually ended up ordering nearly everything on the sampling/sharing menu, and it wasn't expensive at all (we did not have the pig thank you), and the atmosphere was great even though it was extremely busy.

And the service ?

Not sure how much Garry can achieve in his short time at the MFC, but one thing we are getting is a very experienced media performer who can answer questions directly and succintly. He is impressive in that regard and hopefully can get something positive achieved at the club.

The personal abuse has kicked in again on that other thread. It is actually remarkable that this topic that we don't discuss on here has taken up so much of people's lives.

Getting back to more interesting matters, I hope Sylvia is recontracted soon and that we keep Morton. I just see a big upside for Cale who has clearly had a frustrating couple of seasons.

how many games have we lost by 9+ goals over the last 4 year. Below is the result from my investigation

2008 7

2009 6

2010 2

2011 7 with 4 games to go.

So this year we are equal to our bottom out year and we still have 4 games to go, sunday could easily add another.

looks stark against last year.

What it clearly says to me is that we have gone backwards in a big way.

To have as bad a year as 2008 is amazing.

Like you and others I hope he shows something. But I've been hoping for some time and my patience is admittedly wearing thin. Some instances this season and before have been unacceptable. I have referred to them in the past as non negotiables. I don't like the hesitation, I don't like second guessing or on far more than one occassion the decision making on Morton's behalf.

I understand he has played 60 games, I understand his height, scope for maturity, etc, I understand the interruption through injury late in the pre-season, but all said and done I haven't seen progress from him in 2011. It's been one of my biggest disappointments for 2011.

I still hold hope, although it remains only a glimmer. I'd love to see him become the player we wanted.

Without wanting to be unduly controversial on this thread, Cale has been almost as frustrating for many of us supporters as the subject of that other thread (but obviously for entirely different reasons). I hope he plays a blinder on Sunday, and starts to cement a permanent spot in our best 22 for 2012 and beyond.

That's probably the glimmer of hope I have. A new focus, instilling and enhancing his strengths, whilst improving the attributes that need addressing. Thanks for chiming in with that. That said, it still has to come from within and knuckling down.

I agree that a new Coach might be part of the answer. I just wonder if he needs a bit of love from the club. Some players go into their shell and lose confidence and feel that they are not part of the team going forwards and their game falls apart. I just get the feeling that Cale might fit into that category. A few good games to finish off the year, a new coach and new game plan and an uninterrupted pre season might be the making of Cale.

1. Older leaders struggle + Coach struggles and is sacked.

2. New generation of leaders emerge (Watts & Trengove) + new coach is appointed

3. Club emerges stronger than ever in 2012.

A few here, including moi, were predicting a turbulent season just prior to commencement. IIRC old55 was definitely one that comes to mind.

The younger list, pre-season form and injuries to Frawley, Morton and another who escapes me for now, along with the loss of experience in Junior and Bruce were massive factors for this reasoning.

I guess it's subjective as to how turbulent it would be, but a younger inexperienced list can produce inconsistent results.

I totally agree that a bit of tlc might lead to a bit of much needed confidence, but if that's the case he will need to learn to bounce back quickly each time he gets knocked down. As we all know, the caper he has chosen for his career can be pretty brutal.

ps. I don't think the fact that Cale has been moved from pillar to post (and never really had a position he could claim as his own) has helped his confidence and apparent fragility.

I reckon the players have been given a timely reminder that they need to grow up. And soon.

Coaches play a part, but it's players that win flags.

As my daughter would say to a number of MFC players at the moment, "Suck it up Princess!"

And that message is bringing the best out of the new stars, Watts and Trengove. And it is this new attitude that will inspire others to stay and play for the MFC.
