Was Pennyweight amongst them and if so what were they like?

Pennyweight make consistent product plenty of fruit and full mouth.Probably all beechworth wines are a bit thin and drink now rather than the big cellar for later reds of Rutherglen or the later released McLaren Vales which we enjoyed when we went to the Port Adelaide match.

Re Rutherglen would be interested in your report on Vintara/King Jack. Newly acquired by the Chinese I did not enjoy the wine tasted but the very cheap bottle I took away tasted well. May have been a tasting room problem.

Theres many fine wines from Rutherglen so wont recommend any let your palete be the judge.

I was impressed with the All Saints release and I dont normally say that.

Whoops just read the entrails of the thread and realised I have experienced some space time continuum problem. Sorry to interrupt with a now long gone diatribe. You were right about the swallow or spit reference which needs to be applied as code for more activities. Does one swallow and consume the full offering of the thread or just spit it out choosing to move on in the hope of finding something better. You were also correct that there is some pretentious element to the practice of tasting. You have to indulge in it when you are legless. I did indicate that while I tasted a few of the offerings it became cloudy and difficult to recall when I gave up tasting and started drinking.

Have been to rutherglen many times, and to Vintara when it still had the brewery. Haven't been there since the new owners in place. Thought it a bit pretentious anyway, but may give another go.

Ha Ha Ha !! I think that reinforces my comment about lack of taste, discernment etc etc!!! It will be a guzzle fest with the occasional attempt to make some sort of educated comment. (good nose.. tannins a bit overdone .. another year or two... strong plummy taste ...etc etc) FMD!!

Ok, let me edit my comment. I will be tasting a lot of wines as always, but only buying those that impress!

I done some back ground checks on our old Professor and found out he was once an English Punk Rocker who made a TV series back in the 80's.

His real name is Vyvyan

Have you been into BBO's family photo album AGAIN?

BBO it is about whether you spit or swallow, and I am talking exclusively about wine tasting here. A true sommelier such as myself or as I am sure Demoneyes is can get through any number of wineries yet still enjoy the marvellous grape varieties and vintages of the wine district one is visiting at the time. A wine tasting tour is not to be confused with sculling beers in the back blocks in places like Blackwood!

Thanks Earl but I think you may be talking to a brick wall

My worry is where is BBO he seemed somewhat distraught last night. He seemed to be confused about spitting and swallowing in wine tasting and how you could work through an entire wine district and still play a round of golf. These are complex scenarios I know and I believe Clint has worked his way through this. As for me last time I toured Rutherglen I forgot to spit and was at one point what the lads used to say in my day as well and truly "fly blown" the next day!

Yes EH (nice Holden in that one!). I must say i dont do the spit often but am well seasoned enough to cope with many a winery! Maybe BBO is a bit of a teetotaller and cant cope!

Draft day must be close, as Foxtel changed their listings to finally show the draft being shown at 6.30.

Have set it to record already using my phone app.

Yes the excitement is getting to me.

I am over joyed for you Redleg

Sadly perhaps I have only modest interest.

A decade of failure with high draft picks has dulled my enthusiasm

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
