They're trying to put a touch of the LeBron 'take my talents to South Florida' about it. Media bloody beating it up again.

If he's playing this well while uncommitted, imagine how he'd go if his heart beat true...

I reckon that article won't endear him to Melbourne supporters at all.

Just more of the same for mine. I didn't really expect him to break under questioning and tell all.

Yes, more of the same 'I will make my decision and what's in the best interests for me" type stuff.

Nothing about his love for the Melbourne Footy Club. Nada.

He should be embarrassed by the banner that was held up at the end of the game today which said 'Number 31 Please Don't Go'.

Melbourne supporters were screaming this same line back in the sixties when Barrass headed to Carlton - that was after he gave his all for our club over a decorated career, and was only making the move to set up the next phase of his career. This kid has yet to achieve anything for our club, yet has the Melboure faithful bending over backwards to keep him. He is showing us absolutely no respect at the moment. Give me a committed Jordie McKenzie or Jack Trengove any day over this rubbish.

Going to go out on a limb here

While I have said I reckon Tom is going

all this speculation is clouding the fact we actually won today

Reckon there is not much more to speculate about until we actually here an announcement

I think the next Scully thread should be opened when there is actually an official announcement

Whether negative or positive speculation is consuming the board.

what are people's thoughts?

I think there is a major misnomer regarding al this and that is the notion that the Decision will come end of season.

No...an announcement is what will be made...the decision in all likelyhood has already been made !!

He is starting to look like a punk - to big for his boots type.

His disposal is shocking! i coud not beleive how the commentors, lynch inparticular were pumping his tyres in the game when 5 out of his first 7 disposals were turnovers.

He is nowhere near 'on judd' pace = judd won a brownlow in his 3rd year and judd could of eassily got a massive deal from a melbourne club in his first contract negotiation but he was loyal to the eagles and stayed there and served the club very well.

As for this guy he doesnt give two shits about our brand and him and his management are holding us to ransom.

Well i tell you what - shall he sign with the GWS i will break his knee caps! Good luck to ya son!

It has got to the point that even if he signs with the dees is rep is tarnished.

Memo to Tom: Don't treat the people that back you and help pay your wage with contempt. The tone of your comments give a distinct hint of arrogance. You are a second year player - build up your credit points over a long period before taking this sort of approach. The whole thing lacks class.

M. Bison: Yes! YES!

He'll never be offered a one year deal by Melbourne.

No sheit. I bet Pendles wasn't offered a 1 year deal either but thats what he inked in. And Scully being portrayed as this "super professional", I wouldn't be suprised if he demanded a 1 year deal to still spend another year at Melb, stay in the GWS window, inflate his currency further and benefit from the new collective bargaining argeement. So I think its a good chance he will end up signing a 1 year deal, and melb supporters need to take a leaf out of the filth army and not get total hysteria when one of our players is highly sought after.

Maybe he doesn't love it. I couldn't care less if he does or doesn't love the club as long as he does his job on the field.

I care and I think a lot of others do as well.

I agree wholeheartedly. The club is bigger than the individual. Always has been and always will be.

I don't like what Tom is doing. The club should grow some cojones and put a stop to it.

What exactly is Scully doing? He is focused on his football and doing his best for the club, which is exactly what he should be doing.

The club has already said that they are quite content for things to keep going the way that they are and after reading what Scully had to say after today's game about flattening out the rollercoaster ride and winning the next game against Richmond, I think he has his head screwed on... the only people losing theirs, are supporters such as yourself.

1 - Lynch is his manager yes?? what do you want him to do

2 - in Judds 2+3rd years Eagles made finals and he stayed... "big money offers" im sure it wasnt 2 or more time his pay... 200K more max i would have thought if that... completely different circumstances

3 - lets let Scully play 3 seasons to start with

Very difficult to watch today...

I can't help but think that no matter what happens, we will all remember this saga.

This hasn't endeared him to the supporters of this great club and in my opinion his reputation may never recover.

This i think Scully is in a good place for himself... yes the club is important but i think him not playing foot for 9+ weeks will be what affected him most, and it is in "his" best interest to stick to the plan and sign at years end,

I like when he said "we love playing Richmond" this young group Scully and Trengove and Gysberts etc havnt lost to Richmond... well beat them twice last year, also it being his club as a kid shows he is keen to put them to the sword in my opinion

I care and I think a lot of others do as well.

Why? I don't love my job but I turn up and do my best. That makes my boss happy. Why should a footballer be different?

completly different circumstance yes a guy from victoria playing in the west to guy playing in victoria going to the west for 1 thing only = CASH!

dont defend the guy as he is disrespecting all of us!

Rubbish! He is playing great football for the Demons and concentrating on that. The only person being "disrespected" is Scully, by the likes of you.

Why? I don't love my job but I turn up and do my best. That makes my boss happy. Why should a footballer be different?

I don't know if there's even any point answering those questions. The way we view footy must be poles apart.

I can only offer you a quote in reply ...

"Football is not matter of life and death ... It's more important than that." - Bill Shankly (Iconic Liverpool Manager)

So who in the cheer squad will be held accountable for the stupid "31 PLEASE STAY" sign today?

there certainly is an extreme amount of behind the scenes chatter on the issue with all the names in the media believing THEY are the ones who have the inside scoop.

My brother is good friends with one of the players and he told him that Tom Scully refuses to talk about the issues with any of the players or anyone at the club and has stood by this since this entire fiasco began!

Why would you do this to yourself, your team mates and your club?

What exactly is Scully doing? He is focused on his football and doing his best for the club, which is exactly what he should be doing.

The club has already said that they are quite content for things to keep going the way that they are and after reading what Scully had to say after today's game about flattening out the rollercoaster ride and winning the next game against Richmond, I think he has his head screwed on... the only people losing theirs, are supporters such as yourself.

I disagree Hardtack. With the amount of speculation and media attention this is generating, members who are in fact the 'shareholders' of the club have every right to question what is happening here. Particularly with the unique GWS situation that has arisen. I don't think people are losing their heads or going feral, rather they want some sort of sign that he's going to commit. Much like our number two pick Jack Trengove did and number three pick Dustin Martin did with Richmond. If he signalled his intent to stay now and did the formal contract work at the season's end, all of this would be over. Be fair to your fellow supporters on this one. I think we're being treated with contempt.

Look I've always been a Scully-to-stay believer and try to disregard most of the rumours and innuendo, but I'm not totally convinced with Scully's latest party line.

Pretty much only says he's "happy to be back playing footy." Says "a decision" will be made at the end of the year, rather than saying he'll negotiate a new deal at season's end. I was hoping to see some kind of indication that he saw his future at the MFC, but to no avail.

I know it's pedantic but I reckon you can make educated guesses based on media quotes. Ralph's article doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence.

Of course I hope I'm wrong, just adding my $0.02 worth.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
