Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

"Bruise Free Footy"

He also made mention "bruise free footy" in an interview post game. This was discussed this morning with Anthony Hudson and Tim Watson on SEN. They mentioned he also stated it. I haven't heard it myself, but I took their word.

Thanks.

The first person I heard use the term "bruise-free" in relation to MFC (and in general) was Dermott on SEN on Friday morning. Not sure if this was the origin and Carlton picked it up from there.

I hate to say it but dont Collingwood and Essendon have the next highest numbr of MCC Members. They dont seem to have a problem. What a whole lot of rubbish.

The Bombers only play there, they don't mix and socialise there. They train @ Windy Hill and come into contact all the time, with regular supporters who have 'Effect' on them.

Same the Pies, they train and socialise elsewhere and maintain thier grassroots tradition. keeps them 'Grounded'...

Isn't it interesting that it has come to fruition that three Carlton players have referred to our team as having played "Bruise-free" footy. Arnfield, Robinson and our previously own Brock McLean.

It is as if Carlton have looked at our fixture with Essendon & Collingwood coming up and decided to throw a few hand grinades after leaving the scene after a more than comfortable win, to make things difficult for our upcoming opponent(s) by turning the blowtorch up. Particularly top 4 candidate Essendon.

Yep I think there's a bit of that in it HT. But don't water down what is a very important message, and a valuable One, that we can use to change for the better.

Wasn't there a game under Daniher when the guys came out trying to play 'unsocialable' football following some similar comments being made about their lack of mongrel?

Pretty sure we lost that game...

Short sighted.

It's not one game we need to incoporate this hardness into it's forever. The Hawks lost plenty of players suspended to unsocial footy, and took Home a Flag.

Carlscum do not have a hard culture??? Hmmm don't think i can agree to that. 16 dirty flags are in their cheating cupboard.

I am not being defensive of the "Northern Stand" at all, i just think our problems come from other places that's all. Your points are well made, but it is too easy to lean on them.

The advent of AAMI Park makes them redundant anyway.

Hard doesn't mean breaking salary caps!

The most galling thing about this is that Ratten and Riley use to coach the very players they are saying play 'bruise free' footy.

And that they obviously singled out the Captain, as Robinson mentioned him specifically.

We have all already discussed these issues before Carlton belittled us so no surprises there.

Let's hope we rectify it from here on in. Especially Rd 20.

I thought the same thing.

I also agree with Carlton, and I thank them, hopefully they will fire us up enough to play some football I can stand to watch this Friday. This year, purely how soft we are has been the most disappointing thing, I can live with most other things, but when players hang back a bit and let the opposition get it first, makes me effin sick.

Pot calling the kettle black a bit though, considering Garlett and Yarran's efforts. I suggest they worry about their own pots in the future.

Carlscum expect to win. They have no care as to how they do it, but they certainly do not have a soft culture.

The MFC still does whether we like it or not, but i do not think it eminates from the Northern Stand.

We tried to go it alone in the 80's & look where it got us....i for one am very glad the MFC/MCC affiliation has been restored.

You're aware that similar words are used by supporters of other clubs every single day ? These words could have come from a Richmond, North, or Port Adealide forum. Not as much North, as even though they're crud they usually have a dip, but you get my point.

Rinse and repeat.

I believe that our best 22-25 next year will be very good and play some terrific football. I just hope they're in the hands of a better tactician and more astute/hard nosed leader.

I totally agree, and I think we are better placed than the clubs you mentioned for the future 3 to 6 years from now. I didn't say anything about how they are coached and managed. That may well in fact change if it needs to, and we may need a better tactician and leader. That has nothing to do with their potential, merely what we are seeing from them now.

I watched the replay on Tuesday morning and I actually thought that the majority of the boys did put in. Green was absolutely throwing himself around. There was a difference in attitude it was just what they were doing with it. There have been very few here after the Carlton game complaining about tackling and putting there heads over the ball so I find the Carlton comments antagonistic and arrogant. I especially think Brock Mcleans comments about it feeling like playing footy 5 years ago - bruise free football were especially galling.I don't believe that Brock has a longterm future at Carlton just a slightly longer one than Chris Johnson. It also makes me wonder where did this phrase "bruise free football" come from. It just seems so contrived that three players have all said it.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
