I think it's the gameplan in this regard. Players seem very, very hesitant to kick it quickly if they're in trouble, because Bailey's gameplan demands a direct approach out. There seems to be no plan B. No plan B = pressure when there is no available option. How times was the player kicking out struggling for an option? How often has that been the case in 4 years with Bailey? Every week.

Bartram has some good qualities that I can appreciate, and I think he is a player who attempts to play within his limitations.

I'll be glad if/when we can replace Bartram because it will indicate we're a pretty good side, but I think Bartram is good enough to be a premiership player (have a look at flag sides and you'll be able to pick out players worse than Barty).

Actually, I think an unusually high percentage of Grimes' mistakes come when he is under little pressure.

If you read Morton's comment on the Demon website during the week you'll see that Bartram is one of the first players picked each week and he's not gong to get dropped. I think the biggest problem is that there is a lack of commitment and no one wants to take the responsibility of clearing the ball so they each pass it off to each other even if the other player is in a worse position.

I agree RF... they need to somehow get it into their heads to play more by instinct and less by trying to think things through too much; they simply do not have the time for that. Warnock is excellent when it comes to winning the ball but he dithers too much and so undoes all of his good work. These guys need to have it drilled into them that they need to move the ball out of there as quickly as possible; kick it down the guts as far as they can at the earliest possible opportunity... if it comes back, at least it will be from a distance too far for any real damage to be done on the scoreboard.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
