you learn more from your mistakes than you do your sucess. Jetta made some mistakes against the hawks. He will want learn from them. if he gets dropped to casey then i'm sure he'll be back in the dees side soon enough..

jetta is only a third year player....played a good first year...second year wasn't as good as his first. his game against the swans was good. for where he was taken in the draft he has been great value for us.

I agree that Jetta should be Caseyed for this week, but I also think he will be a big part of our future, and as a midfielder. He was our BoG in the preseason game against the Lions in precisely that role. Clearly his whole game endurance isn't there, but injuries allowing, it will come this season. How many games has he played? Under 20 I'm sure. Gysberts needs to be rewarded. Maric, and it will be a little unlucky for him because he has limited opportunity, should make way for Wonaeamirri. Those who think Nathan Jones should be dropped are woefully misguided. He is also still developing, believe it or not, and had some superb games last year. In the absence of Junior McDonald, and with the club trying to push him into a new level of versatility, he's going to take a few games to find his mojo this season.

i think Jettas upside is his defensive pressure and attack on the man/ball

I disagree as strongly. Last year he took an enormous step in the 2 weak aspects of his game, decision making and ball use. He was consistently able to find space, then use the ball to great advantage out of traffic, and his foot passing became elite, hitting leads on the chest from 40m plus. That he has been underpar for the first 2 rounds is of absolutely no concern to me....ups and downs. To say he has not progressed in 5 years is just baffling. Should our currently understrength midfield lose him, we would be in more trouble than we are already. But in the end, it all comes down to expectation. He is not Gary Ablett, no matter how much people want him to be.

Other than the Brissy game at Optus Oval in March I've never been super impressed with Nev. If he can produce that kind of game more often then he'll be a weapon for us, but let him find that form playing for Casey I say. Too inconsistent for mine ATM.

Perhaps I am just looking for errors but he seems to make clangers at the worst times in games.

He dropped a sitter of a mark in the third quarter last week when on the end of a beautiful kick from Davey.

One of the few times we looked like clearing the ball from the hawk forward line.

Result was a turn over and goal for the hawks.

Now don't jump down my neck I know it was one occasion

he just seems to play well when the game is open.

When it gets tight and congested he goes missing.

Not helped of course by having 36 players in one half of the ground.

A torrid run with injuries explains the lack of fitness. If the fitness comes he'll be more than handy.

Until then I think he'll be in and out of the side.

It took Leroy a long time to click at Essendon, and now he's a jet (excuse the pun) apparently. Nev should build his game slowly.

Bennell is more interesting. He's been showing flashes of brilliance forward and back since game 1. He has to find more of the ball. However I can't help but think he'd be better served in a more successful system of football.

I think he means the second line rpfc.

I get the feeling he would be a great finisher.

i.e. In a good/better side where there was not as much pressure on him personally

his ability would allow him to flash in and out of the game and be very damaging.

He does not have that luxury at the Dees.

I reckon there are so many players in front of Jetta when it comes to a 'big part of our future as a midfielder'. I think that if he makes it he'll have to play in the midfield at times, but I can't see him playing there in our primary rotation.

One of the 'mistakes' is that he looked totally cooked after any sort of involvement in the play. Regardless of any other considerations, he looked completely unfit (in AFL-terms, anyway).
