Perfect! Do we set a time limit on picks to be taken otherwise it's a pass?

Cunning. I like it. But first all must be made aware. Oh, that is if it's ok with old55 anyway...

Yeah I think once everyone is on board we could try a one day time limit, what do you think?

Make your selections in order in the thread so we can make sure they happen in the right order but keep a summary post up near the top with all your selections and players in position so so far - does this make sense?

It is going to take a while but we've got nothing better to do until the pre-season comp starts ...

Yes that makes sense.

Sounds like a ridiculous waste of time to me.

Can't wait!

Old I just realised you are not in the list of 10. I am happy to step aside if you want to have a crack. It was your idea after all!

To repeat my original post, does anyone want to make this full-scale?

I was thinking something like this. (BigFooty does have a lot of members but we only need 10-12 to kick it off, and I'm not sure how many teams they have.)

I reckon this would be really good, although considering there are 600+ players in the draft, we'd need very active members to kick it off before the season starts.

Anyone? I think it would be fun :)

I'm not opposed to a "last-in, first-out" policy.

Fair is fair.

Full-scale ? Unsure eth38. Might be worth a try though. But for now I reckon we give old's best 18 a crack.

You can always try and start something before the 2011 season if you want.ie in off-season. Sent the master a PM, he might be the only one unaware.

Is a whole 24 hours too long to wait?

Should we make it 12 hours from the last pick and if they miss that deadline they pass and take their pick at the end of the round?

(can you tell I'm getting impatient for my turn..?)

I think Round 1 was always going to take a little while. Thereafter once all are aware it could be quicker if everyone checks in now and then.

And you reckon you have a wait !

But I'm looking forward to the set of steak knives.... :)

12 hours is better I agree. Perhaps if they miss then they pick 2 picks at their next turn? If they miss that chance then they forfeit?

Patience kids, after the first round, 24 hours it is, some people only have a certain window each day.

Agree with the idea of 2 picks next round and if they don't show at that pick it's out.

I agree.

Only having a small window is understandable.

Maybe to preserve the integrity of the draft, if they miss the 2 picks then the position is offered up to other posters who aren't participating but wish to assume the role.

We're better off with those that are committed, otherwise everyone will get frustrated.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
