Joeys? No [censored]?

Seems strange...

haha he is with former rookie list player dale carson!

Good luck to him. He'll love tanning on the CG. Plus the soft sand on the beach to cushion his fall from speccies when he plays kick to kick.

He'll know how to structure up, I'm sure it won't be just all about Robbo standing on people's heads, it will be a pretty structured game plan."

:D

Seriously, why do people always knock Robbo. I am sick and tired of it. You are the same people that cheered and went bezerk when he did fly above the pack and pull one down. Or when he kicked the arsey goal against essendon in 2005 to put us into the finals. Yes, he didn't always do the 'Team' thing, but hell, he provided us great service and thrilled people over many season's. When he did try and do the team thing, it was usually a worse result.

He isn't at the club any longer so you can all move on. Can't understand the 'stick the boots in' mentaility amongst Dee's supporters sometimes.

I dont see any evidence of that in this thread though.

For some reason though whenever Robbo is mentioned around here, you always have a few clowns who feels the need to stick the boot in, or complain about him.

Say what you like, but he was an important part of our club for over a decade and always gave his very best to the team. He never did anything but represent our club with pride.

I don't see why people now have to make throwaway nasty comments about him. It's as pointless and pathetic as idiots who abuse Brock McLean over Twitter. FFS!

I agree with the bolded statement and his record and story at MFC is a good one.

But chill out on the stick the boot stuff. It hasn't happened on this thread and your first sentence is an overreaction. At best the responses to his coaching role have been positive.

Come on, very few nice things have been said about Robbo on this site since retirement, and even during the twilight of his career.

He has done absolutely nothing wrong to anyone on here, or to the club, so it surprises me to see the negative reactions, even if they aren't in the majority.

I agree, around here the sentiment towards Robbo is that he was a selfish player who never worked for the team.

That's just Rubbish-Sure he loved taking spekkies (who doesn't) but he was good at it, and it probably got him noticed.

Anyone doubts Robbo's commitment to the Demons watch the game against the Swans at the G in 2002. (The last Q) B)

I've noticed here its more OK to sink the boot in the most derogatory fashion to current players and that even benign criticism of past players for their deficiencies is more or less frowned upon. They play 200 games and are elevated to sainthood. I think valid criticism is appropriate for past players especially since some formed the backbone of an underachieving and mediocre club.

Valid criticism of players is always acceptable if it is related to their football and done in a nice manner. But nobody here has a right to personally insult players, be it current or past. You don't know the players personally, so don't comment on their personality, especially when it has no baring on their football ability.

Robbo was a great player for us, who gave his absolute best for the team and the club. What he does now, is none of our business and I find it pretty distasteful that anonymous people behind a screen are passing judgment.

If we can call our country's leaders idiots, then surely we can criticise a few past players, especially when they're a little too in awe of themselves. Having said that, there's a fine line between criticism and going overboard, and unfortunately, where that line is placed differs from person to person

Calling someone selfish because they claim they're biggest disappointment was not winning MotY is as valid as that claim itself. I like Robbo for his entertainment value, but I certainly like him less now than I once did, and that's a shame.

Huh?

Where have been the personal insults on this thread?

What he is does now if it is related to football and appears in the Press is everyone's business to comment on within the C of C.

You find distateful the comments that dont abide with yours.

You got to be kidding, are you? This is a football forum and everyone passes judgement. I know the moderators were trying to get feral's into line but there is no need for pontificating.

Some of the simplistic views of Robbo are misplaced.

One of his weakness amongst some of the strengths he had is that focussed on the individual outcome sometimes to the detriment of the side.

Robbo was committed to the Demons. It was great when he exercised that commitment on the teams terms and not his own.

Overall, its a great story about a guy off the rookie list who made the most of his opportunities to have a good AFL career.

HA!

That is so rich coming from the biggest egotistical, self righteous jerk on this site B)

I guess when you cant put a constructive argument together you need to stoop to that.... Not good.

If you really what to fly the flag on player abuse, you might want to rally behind some of the Michael Newton critiques.

But I'll leave it your good judgement.

When I start calling Michael Newton a selfish, self-centered egomaniac, then feel free to pull me up on it.

Until then, enjoy continuing to beat your own chest like the big man that you think you are around here.

Talk about jumping at shadows.

If Robbo did not love the Melbourne Football Club, there's no way he would have come back from that 2008 injury. He would have been in so much pain for weeks after that one.

I know it's a percieved view of Robbo, & my views will not change that-But i will always be a little sad at how Robbo has been remembered by a lot on this site. The people i call the "True demons"

That Robbo is such a characature.

I think we all need to grab a cherry ripe and chill out.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
