I tell you what Macca. You can have your thread back. Cherrio

It's not my thread.  Dappa Dan kicked things off

This thread survives because we're all careful with what we say about the other teams

Let's face it, it's like Blues, Demons, Pies, Bombers, Tigers & Hawk fans all in the one conversation without it getting heated

You would have been best served arguing your point out.  But again, the choker jibe invites trouble

There's often a very fine line between winning and losing

In the end, you got lucky but you very nearly blew it

But hey, winners are grinners Gorg and you won the game.  49ers next week will be very interesting

Can they handle your defence and can you handle their defence?

We could see some turnovers on offense for both teams.  That's been the pattern this weekend and we may get more of the same

Rams need to commit 100% to stopping the run. Make Jimmy beat us. If their run game gets going it’s going to be hard. Contain and stop the run. Let the secondary do their job.
Whit and Rapp hopefully back next week.

Yep, in crunch time yesterday the 49ers run came to the fore ... but your run defence is much better than what we saw from the Packers & Cowboys (against the Niners)

And the 49ers won't be leaning on Jimmy to win them the game ... short cut-out throws can be expected.  Jimmy, if managed well, can be effective

The 49ers run defence and pass defence is your biggest concern.  They are quite good, Gorg

Agree their D is very good, if we can establish the passing game early then make them drop more back that negates Bosa somewhat.

Agreed

Decibel factor at KC through the roof loud ... the 12th man!!

Play calling on that last Bills possession null & void!

Bills score in miraculous fashion.  Wow!

Josh Allen has been fantastic!

So now KC have got less than 2 minutes to save the day ... Bills 29 KC 26

This game is fun. Allen’s legs are elite then that throw on 4th &16 was crazy

Now KC take the lead!

Allen has a minute but the Bills trail by 4pts (29-33)

So they've got to get to the end zone

Barnburner!

Bills score again ... Josh Allen is a genius!

13 seconds for the Chiefs to score ... 2 plays only?  A field goal ties it up

Are we going to overtime?

48 yard field goal attempt

We're going to overtime!!!

We get to watch these two blokes throw the ball a while longer. Unreal stuff

Is this the greatest play off weekend ever?

Yep ... the games have been fantastic

Chiefs win after being on their 25 yard line with 13 seconds remaining trailing by 3 points

Incredible!

So next week its ...

Bengals @ KC (7.00am Monday AEDT)

49ers @ Rams (10.40am Monday AEDT)

And moves have been made aplenty in the post season tipping comp

Anyone game enough to pick the Bengals?  haha

A total of 12 points up for grabs next week!

One of the greatest games of all time to end what surely is the greatest weekend of NFL games, ever?

There's no doubt the main reason the Bills lost is giving up a FG in 13 seconds.

But...

This might be the straw that breaks the camel's back in terms of the current OT rules. For Allen not to get to touch the ball after the game he had is just not how that game should have ended. Both defences were stuffed which meant too much rested on who won the coin toss. It shouldn't be that way.

Absolutely incredible game that one between KC and Bills, I only managed to watch the last quarter live, but what a quarter!
Simply one of the most amazing finishes to a game ever, had to feel for Josh Allen, threw what looked to be about 3 game winning TDs, and agree with you titan_uranus, and watching some of the post match reaction on youtube, the experts are calling for a College Style extra time system whereby both teams get a chance with the ball.

Some of the best quarterbacks in the league, on both winning and losing teams this weekend, flinging some beautiful passes in between the wide receivers numbers (a teardrop pass from Brady to Fournette in Q2, Stafford's darts to Kupp in that final drive, Allen and Mahones both in Q4), I love to see it.

And agree with everyone here, quite possibly the most exciting weekend of playoffs ever!

KC ended up with the biggest winning margin of the weekend, but had to come from behind twice in the last minute to do so.

Very true, I feel sometimes he outsmarts himself or can be a bit overzealous with his play calling... I was a big fan of his time in Atlanta, the offense that year was unreal.

Yeah exactly, he's got a tendency to get in his own way. No doubting his offensive mind though.

This game was absolutely spectacular, some truly amazing quarterback play. Was really hoping the Bills would get it. Watch out Bengals.

@Gorgoroth Guess we both need to get our dukes ready to stick up.

I’m going to have to stick and move like Ali to avoid the scores next Monday.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
