Eagles with a big win over the niners, certainly put a smile on this Rams supporters face.

But seriously how horrible is the NFC East....

Time to pause the season for 2 weeks, pack the NFL up and move it to Australia and New Zealand.

The Rugby League and Rugby Union stadiums and facilities are perfect to host NFL teams and games.

South and West (later time zones and warmer weather) 1 division per city in:
- Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney with games possible in Perth and Melbourne as restrictions ease. Teams can also choose to relocate to Carins, Townsville, Newcastle, Gosford etc if they wish.

North and East (earlier time zones, colder weather) 1 division per city in
- Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin and Christchurch

Start a small  number of early games in NZ at say 9am local time which is 4pm US. Play the bulk of games around 6:30 US time and then keep a later spot.

Would inject a lot of money in to the Aus and NZ economy whilst saving the NFL season and letting the players live normal lives and play games infront of (some) crowds.

Logistics & supply issues. Not sure that we as a nation have sufficient stocks of weed & handguns to pull this off

We haven't seen Dappa as yet but everyone else is off the mark.  Been an easy start to the season with regards to tipping road winners but that can and almost certainly will change.  Everyone got a point this week which must be a first ... 2 points on offer coming up in week 5

I'll post up the games tomorrow night but Friday's game sees the Bucs @ Chicago.  That could be a real interesting game.  Foles vs Brady again unless the Bears switch their QB

2 points on offer this week (as well as every odd numbered week for the rest of the season ... save for week 16 which is worth 2 points & week 17 which is worth 3 points

With regards to the comp we are going to need a contingency plan if a game or games are called off at the last minute (due to COVID-19 or other such variables)

The cancelled or postponed games are an obvious no result for that week but how will that no result count towards picking 3 road winners?

I'm in favour of counting a cancelled or postponed game as a WIN (putting aside that the game will almost certainly be played at a later date)

If we go the other way do we allow people to re-do their tips?  And does everyone get that option?  What if people have to re-do their tips again and again?

Becomes a bit cumbersome especially if there are multiple cancelled games on different days

As previously stated above,  I'm in favour of counting a cancelled/postponed game as a win

What do others think?

How about @Macca as competition head honcho, you nominate a sub. Like in the daily double. So if one of my tips is scratched and I'm unaware & don't adjust my initial tips, I get the sub tip that you nominated.

As if my sub tip would have any chance of saluting GtB!!  Not a bad idea though

Whatever we do decide to do we'll need to stick to it.  I'm a stickler for fairness and I'd hate to see people miss out completely on a postponed game.  The virus is out of control in the States so the games are almost certainly going to be effected

Getting a win for a cancelled game won't mean that a point is assured either ... we all know how difficult it can be to get 3 road winners.

My view rewards a bit of luck and us being all Demon fans,  we could do with some luck

But I'll go with the majority view or the consensus.

By the way,  I reckon there is a trap game amongst the heavily favoured teams this week ... just don't ask me which one!

@Macca maybe make the Monday night game away team the default team?

The issue might be that someone might have already included the Monday night game in their tips.  Then we'd need another default game and maybe even a 3rd game

The key is to make it as simple as possible ... one thing we do know is that the virus can or could hit a team on the day of the match or the day before so it's better to be prepared.

And we very nearly got caught out with the Saints game in the just completed week.

The other issue is that not everyone is always here so we can't assume that anyone will have the time to re-do their tips.

And the other thing is that I don't want to spend any more time here than necessary running the comp

At the moment the comp basically runs itself,  is really low maintenance and I don't need any more than about 15 minutes per week to run it.  It's simplicity is it's strength

From my point if view I'm looking for the simplest possible solution.

Next away game on the list.
Ie this weeks game has buffalo vs Tennessee,

if that game is delayed, it’s the next game on the list being the raiders, if that game was chosen by that person then move down etc.

Or, award .5 if they got the other two right or one on a double week.

The 0.5  I can get my head around .... that can work.  The leaderboard wouldn't take any more time to do and the half points makes a point of difference as well.  If 2 games are cancelled the half point can still apply (?) (or 1 point when 2 points are on offer)

You've got my vote Gorg

From my point of view a tipping comp such as the one we have serves a purpose of keeping the thread ticking over ... and it has achieved that over time.  I don't run it for any other reason

A lot of the other sports threads are dormant or dead but not this one.

So in orded to keep the tipping comp going we can't over complicate the process for the participants.  It's easy to moderate and easy to play.  So if we keep it that way,  I'm all in.

I was going to say giving a win would be fine but I like the 0.5 idea as well.

Whatever makes it easier for the tipsters to set and forget but also whatever makes it easier to moderate.

A postponed game that is played a few days later can still be counted but there are a number of other variables

For instance,  a game played in week 17 could be postponed for at least 2 weeks if the game is COVID-19 effected ... in that situation we could still wait around for the result.

Bucs, Cards, Rams

Bills/Titans will be played Tuesday if no more positive tests at the Titans. Also means Bills/Chiefs next Thursday will be moved to Saturday.

Lol, Tom Brady forgot how to count to 4 in the last minute of today's game.

Not a great game,  but how on earth can someone like Tom Brady lose count of the snap count?  Must be his old age.

Massive result to put a not really that convincing Chicago at 4-1.

Agree both teams don’t look great. Bears D keeps them in it, Buccs run stoppage also helps them so much.

Brady is still decent but is looking his age.

I think the Jets will come good in a few weeks, lots of injuries and unfortunately got a few more, but Crowder was back and instantly a jet, Bell should be back soon, problem is it will prob be too late for a play off run.

Nah we are a dumpster fire. If we couldn't beat the Broncos with a 3rd string QB we've got no hope and our schedule only gets harder after the next two weeks. We've got Cards and Chargers and then have Miami x2, Pats X2, Bills, Seahawks, Chiefs, Rams, Raiders & Browns for the rest of the schedule.

Darnold is inactive this week (not that it would make much difference) so we've got Flacco starting. Our D was always our weapon but now we're not even that strong defensively especially since the Jamal Adams trade. We lost our best receiver Robbie Anderson last year, Gase is an [censored] and hates Bell, our Oline is trash and now Bekton is injured after we put him in injured against the Broncos

The entire organisation is an absolute shambles, they need to blow the whole thing up and start again. Bekton, Maye, Mosely (opted out this season), Crowder and Bell probably the only 5 you would hate to lose. Blow up the rest, sack Gase, tank for Trevor and pray Joe Douglas knows what he is doing.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
