After pushing him-Serhat Temel like crazy last year- I was taught a very valuable lesson--Football dept's know more than us posters most times regarding players to recruit.. For any player whom had such an outstanding finals series in the TAC under 18'S and didn't even get a guernsey anywhere on a AFL list and other posters whom pushed like crazy for Majak Daw whom was on the interchange for Werribee 2nd's on several occasions qualifies them better than us posters whom think we know a little more than them at times.When we look at BP and his team and the unbelievable quality they have brought to our list is quite unbelievable.However, this site is about having some fun,most times. Jack Darling or Luke Mitchell for our draft 12 IMO.Please leave Serhat at the Bendigo Bombers who played one game this year.However, if someone else picked him up and he made it- I'd love to say I told you so.

And Mitchell is more likely to go at our second pick, around pick 30-40 imho.

But I'd still like to get him.

The more I look at who is available in the draft, I'd love to get a KPF at 12 like Lynch, Cook or Darling (more of a HFF), but there are so many good mids in there.

It could be like passing Dal Santo up for Tom Hawkins.

I really think we'll end up with a gun mid, winger or back flanker with pick 12.

There's just far too much quality.

The Sehat Temel story last year was a real lesson for many (including myself) of the full extent of the superficiality and inaccuracy of the 'bigfooty phantom draft style' predictions made by those who watch 5 minute youtube clips of players.

Leading up to the draft last year, 95% of phantom drafts had Temel going in the first 2-3 rounds, yet probably only 1% had Gysberts, Menzel or Howard in the first round.

Immediately after the draft many were dumb-founded by the fact we picked up Gysberts instead of a KPP like Aaron Black or Ben Griffiths.

Yet those who attended the MFC draft event will tell you that our recruiters didn't rate 1 KPP in the top 20 of this draft, and didn't consider Talia a KPP at AFL level, rather more like a tall flanker. In addition, several clubs, including Geelong and Western Bulldogs, have since admitted they were keeping a close eye on Gysberts and would probably have picked him up had he been available.

The afl recruiters these days really know what they're talking about. They don't always get it right, but they do most of the time.

Irregardless, i love 'phantom drafts' and predicting the drafts, even though the extent of my knowledge is youtube clips and watching the udner 18 national championships. But when my predictions are wrong, i'm more than willing to admit the recruiters know best.

I'm all for taking a tall back + 2 tall forwards this draft, + a tallish Mid/flanker that kicks & runs the lines.

You have to draft best available, if that's a mid then that's a mid. Imagine the uproar around here if we drafted a Brad Miller type and let the next Joel Selwood go. If the player doesn't have the potential to be in our best 22 then it's simple - don't draft him. The argument ..We need a tall.. he's tall... let's draft him just doesn't stack up when a Joel Selwood is waiting in the same line

Good post JCB. We would all do well to cool our jets. Most of the time it takes 6 months on here, and one huge stuff up to lose your ego. Though for some, even mods at times, they'll never be wrong.

I was going to say, I reckon there's quite a bit of Temel in Darling. Don't get me wrong, I rate him and I know he'll get drafted, but I wonder if he'll develop any more size-wise. Also, have you been paying attention much to drafting? It's an odd thing... last year our first active pick was at 11... this year it's at 12... still MASSIVELY important... and I haven't put any thought into it at all.

Terrible attitude - was told by Bendigo staff before one training session (after he had performed decently in the ressies the Sunday before) that he would be playing reserves again in that upcoming week... so what did he do?

He just left and went home before training had even started.

This was only one of a handful of occurrences.

He doesn't have the desire (nor the mobility) to play in the AFL.

Terrible attitude - was told by Bendigo staff before one training session (after he had performed decently in the ressies the Sunday before) that he would be playing reserves again in that upcoming week... so what did he do?

He just left and went home before training had even started.

This was only one of a handful of occurrences.
