As reported on the AFL Website, Aaron Davey has a suspected broken leg.

He'll go in for scans on Monday but a broken fibula is suspected.

Not good news as Davey is our weapon and always takes a dangerous opposition player!

Aaron has shown plenty of leadership in 2010 and has really made Liam Jurrah, Aussie Wonaeamirri and Jamie Bennell feel at home this year.

Big pre-season, Aaron! We'll need you firing in Season 2011.

We've been rocked by injuries with news that Martin, Gawn, Meesen, Petterd, Morton, Aussie, Grimes and now Davey all going under the knife pretty much.

Along with Jurrah for 3/4 of the season and Junior for a fair chunk. Add Sylvia missing a month and Moloney missing a month!!!

It's been a bit hell-ish! But look at how we've faired results-wise!! Fair effort. All in the name of "depth".

He can spend some quality time with his brother Alwyn who broke his arm a few weeks ago.

Not an ideal way to end the year for Aaron, but given our finals campaign is all but over, we can at least replace him with some more kids...

Why do you say that?? Both Jones and Moloney played alongside each other most of this year!

We need some hardness and aggression in the middle and we don't get that with Scully, Trengove or McKenzie as yet (with the exception of the McKenzie tackle).

He's had a good run (close to 50 consecutive games i believe) after looking a bit injury prone with those hammys a while back, hopefully he'll be right to start our usual early pre-season training as he's a valuable influence and a quiet but effective mentor and leader.

Surely after 4 or so weeks out Moloney has to come back via Casey.

Moloney may even have his season pulled now- no use trying to get him back through Casey for one more game. Keep him for China.

It is paramount we make sure Davey is right ,look at the problems Sam Blease has had with a broken foot.

Is it 6-week sort of thing?

Will he be right for the pre-season? Will his lethal left foot suffer any long-term effect?

I doubt they could atm as he is going for X-rays today on his leg (fibula)

IMO the FD should try to play Jimmy Bennell in Flash's role. Either as a defender or defensive forward Bennell has not really had much time off the leash. I would like to see how he goes for a couple of weeks in this role as he needs to be more involved more often.

A fractured fibula should only take 3-5 weeks unless: there some complications (ie needs an operation because of floating bone fragments and an infection follows)

It is not weight bearing and does not connect to the knee joint.

I looked at Bennell the moment Davey was carried off, in hope that he would see himself as an automatic replacement however, Davey is so far ahead of everyone.

We should be looking at Bennell as a back up for Davey in future. He has the speed that Davey had when he started at the club.

Can anyone explain to me-why a stretcher was not called to carry Davey off the field. Whilst he was hobbling off ,they had a spare man-and got a goal out of it.Explanation,please?

While someone can clarify, if a player is taken from the ground on a stretcher then that player can or cannot return to the field of play? When Davey was taken from the ground it was not known if there were broken bones. 3AW thought they were working on his calf on the sidelines when he came off.

If a player is stretchered off, they are not allowed to return to the field for 20 minutes. This rule was introduced due to David Parkin deploying the stretcher as a delaying, cooling off tactic (most noticeably I think it was Barry Mitchell against us at the MCG many moons ago) when opposition teams got on a run.

Thus if anyone saw the Freo-Sydney game the reluctance of the Swans to make the call of sending the stretcher out for Jarrad Moore at a crucial stage late in the 3rd quarter, only reluctantly calling for it after he fell over for about the third time due to his heavy concussion/hit to the head and thus ruling him out for effectively the rest of the game.

At the time, it was impossible to tell how bad Daveys injury was, and by the time he got nearer to the bench he was actually limping-jogging off unassisted.

I think I can recall the issue of delaying play to bring out a stretcher.

Didn't we have an issue with I think Freo earlier in the year running on to the ground with a stretcher and the player wasn't even injured? They were trying to slow the game down from memory. The Doctor apparently 'saw' that the player was concussed (from 100 m away!)
