Dreamtime Round, Dreamtime Forwardline

Why not consider the following forward line for Darwin;

ff- Wona Miller Jetta

hf- Davey Watts Bennell

Green and Sylvia on the wing.

Now that would be exciting footy.

Bring in all the Brothers to play up in Darwin they will fire up. Must be frustrating for poor Jurrah not to play up there.

Imagine Jurrah at full forward, surrounded by his bro's and Watts at CHF.

I WOULD FLY TO DARWIN TO SEE THAT!!!!!!!

Wouldn't be surprised if wonna got the call up for this round. Its an important round for them and he certainly has enough credits in the bank for an early call up. Would love Jetta in too. We looked slugglish last week. These 2 players would help.

Normally I'd have no room for this kind of sentiment when selecting a team, but for some reason I really do this week. I know that Gysberts & Macdonald have earned the spots, but I would really, really love to see Oz & Jet get a run this week!!

There is a bit of news around that we may have more indiginous players in the side this week than last.

Its pretty good mail, obviously people will dismiss it, but i beleive it is pretty strong mail.

Thats all.

No, No and No, Players should earn there spots. Lets look past all the media fluff and pick a team to win a game of footy. Imagine how Jordie Gysberts or Jack Watts would feel, These guys have had to earn a game, Then to sit back and watch guys come in because of there heritage. Sentiment in footy is non existent and so it should be.

I am not saying they are going to get a game just because of their heritage, thats crazy. i think you will find jetta has been pushing for selection for a while and Wonna is probably someone who will get more out of playing in the ones that the two's.

Thats all.

I don't think selecting Oz & Jet would be entirely sentimental. Gysberts & Joel Mac have blokes ahead of them in their positions playing well enough to justify their spots in the seniors, whereas we are lacking a bit of pace, pressure and ground-level threat in the forward line which is what Oz & Jet do as players. Couple that with 2-3 weeks of good reviews from their coach at VFL level and I think it would be most unfair to say they haven't earned their spots.

I would contend that they have earned a game and that equally, there are a number of Dees who have probably earned a stint at Casey; moving Wonna and Jetta up for this game may provide just the spark they need for a good win in Darwin - and who's to say that Gysberts shouldn't get a run and Moloney a wake-up call?

I will preface this by saying I would love to see Oz and Neville in the red and blue sooner rather than later but really not sentimental ? Adamm Maric by all accounts in the last two weeks shown just as much as Aussie and Neville. Maric has been doing everything you have stated in your post.

Lets not pick players for media purposes or to promote a AFL fluff fest thats something for the Kevin Sheedys of the world to do.

Sorry, Moloney a wake-up call ??

He (and Sylvia) have gone missing in our last three games (ok, he did a bit against the Dogs, but he has not been traveling well (IMHO) since the Lions game.

Gysberts has done very well, lets give him a well earned week off and a big pat on the back. Young bodies need rest

Miller deserves another chance with the Dees. He is in the leadership group. I reckon we need him at full forward. Can be a real goer.

Dunn should play, he gets alot of the ball, throws his weight around and can relieve Jamar in the ruck

Johnson did not make the most of his opportunity

Hughes does not show enough to stay in the side

I would elavate Jetta and Wonamirri to our forward line. I think our best opportunity of victory is bringing up the aboriginal brigade to create some real Darwin excitement. The boys will be chapping at the bit to play in AllStars territory.

Ins- Wona, Jetta, Miller, Dunn

Outs- Bruce inj. Bate inj. Johnson Hughes

After watching the Blues carve up the saints with their young indiginous forwards, there is no reason that we can't do the same but with Wona and Jetta, we will have alot more intensity and bravado.

Fair enough, I stand corrected... although he had a lot of possessions, I have to say from recollection that a lot of his delivery was not too good.

Ineffective is perhaps a better word for Moloney. Those stats do surprise me. The majority of those 16 kicks were his old up and under, ineffective bombs. I wouldn't mind Gysberts replacing Jones or Moloney. Moloney and Jones are the ones that have the biggest question marks over them in our midfield, I feel. Jones has had a far better season thus far, but unless everything is going perfectly for the team Jones butchers the footy. In the coming years I'd say one of Jones or Moloney will be fighting for the same spot in the midfield and thus one will become merely a depth player. With players of the ilk of Trengove, Scully, Morton, Grimes, Gysberts etc running around in the midfield, we've no real place for an abundance of poor disposers. They're both hard nuts and you can afford one in your team, but I don't forsee a spot for both of them. Why not get games into Gysberts? He's certainly earned the call up. Let's get him playing games with that young midfield and Watts.

Late last season I highlighted that something was bound to change, having Brock, Moloney & Jones we had three similar players who were all one-paced hard workers and maybe with the new talent coming in (picks 1 & 2) Scully & Trengove that one might be squeezed out. As it turned out, things were made easier for the FD when Brock put his hand up to go to VISY.

As I have highlighted in your post, they have been joined by McKenzie and to a lesser extent to date, Rohan Bail. Both young and keen footballers with quick reaction time and very good endurance. I agree with your assessment AdamFarr as underlined in your post quoted.

Good hard at it players Beamer and Jones..........cant have them both going forward. Junior surely goes around again next year....hell he can go as long as he wants....what a gem!! Beam and Jones just don't use the ball well enough and I think players like McKenzie, Trengove, Gysberts will prove to be just as effective as Beam and Jones around the packs with far better use of the ball.....well I'd hope anyway cause that is what delivers flags. I've seen enough of the hard at it great clubman....time for our turn at some out and out superstars!!

Beamer and Jones are guns. I love em. Remember Jones is only 22.

I have nothing against them as such....and am not saying get rid of them by any means. For all our sakes we have to hope that others do push them for their spots. As jones is only 22 hopefully the added pressure from the kids coming up does see an improved level of disposal.

Sorry, but I must say I like Hughes. He attacks the ball hard & really puts in down in the forward line. Be fair to him - the ball was coming into the forward line last week very slow & crappy. Remember, it was only his 2nd game.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
