Trengove - Dees first rising star nominee?

Maybe you are right. I was sitting MCC and it looked like the umpire just plucked it out of nowhere !

As you said, opinions opinions. I'm happy Melbourne won. I just disagreed with the fact that his game

warranted a rising star nomination.

Nice one mate. no drama's. Opinions are like backsides, every one has one!!

Bad comment, was easily a free kick.

Thought it was Scully that got the poke in the eye.

That's two points for two correct answers.

I believe it's a three way race this week. Trenners was most dominant in our third quarter which was also the quarter where we nabbed the lead and kicked 4.3 to 1.1. He also had 23 very good disposals and was one of our best.

Melksham should be praised - he was chucking himself at the players as if it was his last game - but it was his first. A great all round effort from him.

Bastinac has emerged as a very exciting midfield/tagger prospect for North. He held Daniel Kerr to 3 touches in the first half.

Anyways, great to see a win and I think either of these three deserve to win it equally. These three should all get nominations during the year anyway.

Was definitely Scully that was poked in the eye last week.

Amazing way to get the facts wrong then run with it!

Trengove was quite good, and that is all. He's played pretty well in all three matches - the first was his best; probably the most consistent young player so far. He'll get a nomination sooner or later, but this thread is ridiculous.

When looking at 'gun' youngsters, don't forget that Grimes hasn't played many games - not even a full season's worth? Is there a better player in the comp with only that many matches under his belt?

Scully didn't look great today, although not shocking. I think there are two factors in this.

1. He may not be as not as fit as he should be, having come back from a serious injury. Forget about that beep test rubbish; it's not relevant when you've missed as many weeks as he did. I don't think he did what you call a 'full pre-season'.

2. He's not playing in the right position. He's an on-baller, not a wingman. In videos of his play from last year, he seemed to have a license to go where he likes.

I think he'll be fine, but at this stage Trengove is showing a bit more.

he was very good. bastinac was better though imo and martin was one of the best in a losing team (plus has been better past 2 weeks)

on scully, anyone notice he has overshot kicks like 3-5m quite a few times, he's just too powerful obviously :) at least he can handball straight though unlike half of our team

He was great today without being outstanding imagine these kids with 25 - 30 games into them and more importantly games together. As for the rising star the 2 Essendon boys were pretty good too?

I thought trengove was fantastic too...def deserves a nominee....he hasn't played 25-30 games as we all know...i think a mature body and being around the club is far more vitial than playing 25-30...but they kinda go hand in hand...grimes was awesome...hey's played less than 20 games been at the club 3 years...

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
