At quarter time it's Casey 5.0.30 leading Frankston 1.2.8 in perfect conditions at Casey Fields. Michael Newton kicked two goals. Aussie quiet so far.

Casey Reserves had a big win:

Casey Scorpions 5.2.32 6.8.44 7.9.51 11.11.77

Frankston 0.2.3 1.3.9 3.6.24 4.6.30

Ten minutes into the second quarter Casey leads 7.0.42 to Frankston 3.4.22.

Jordan Gysberts is picking up loads of possessions. Colin Garland is blanketing his opponent. I'll be back soon with all the MFC player numbers for those who are going to turn up later.

Quick goals to Stockdale and Healy give the home side a 4 goal lead.

I would say Garland's day is over. He hasn't returned since half time. I think it was planned that he only plays half a game.

On the other hand Aussie has just gone off. He went for a tackle and came down touching his right hamstring. It didn't look too serious but watch this space.

Casey 12.1.73 to Frankston 4.6.30 at the 9 minute mark. Third Term.

Its clear this guys body is not cut out for AFL football at this level. I think we should all start to add him to our list of hard luck stories for the MFC and hope that someone like Maric will step up in his place over the next few years.

Three Quarter Time: Casey 13.6.84 to Frankston 4.7.31

The Scorpions are in control although Frankston will have the advantage of the wind in the last quarter. Matthews and Wall doing well for the home side which looks to have picked up a handy recruit in forward Luke McDonald. Rhys Healey had a quarter and seems to have improved his disposal.

9 minutes into the last term. Casey 91-37.

Gysberts wracking up the possessions.

Juice has a kick for goal coming up from an angle. Pushed OOB.

fitzpatrick just took a nice pack mark and goaled after receiving a 50 m penalty just before the siren.

Great effort KC---Very much appreciated. If you could find out how Wona pulled up- I am sure we all would very much appreciate that.

Great job KC, very much appreciated by those of us who couldn't get to the game. Any news and views in due course on best players for Casey, and (if you can get it) how Wanna and the other Dees pulled up fitness-wise, would be great. Thanks again!!

Thanks KC - its been great seeing the updates for us poor socially isolated obsessives.

KC, great to have you back, thanks heaps for the details of todays game and look forward to your coverage of the Scorps and the Dees players there within throughout the year.

Aussie's tackling in the first half was brilliant and is something we need desperately in our F50. I don't think Maric will ever be as good a tackler.

Good to hear. How many did McDonald end up kicking?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
