Garland or Sylvia?

Garland or Sylvia?

Wouldn't have a clue. I don't think Garland is playing though so she must be referring to Sylvia.

Trengove blitzed in the second quarter. He's elusive, clever and oozes class. Brad Green is just ahead of him for BOG honours.

James Frawley is the best of the defenders. Jack Grimes and Beamer doing well in the middle and Joel McDonald is doing well in defence. The Russian is dominating the ruck duels against Stef Martin.

The general skills are reasonable for this stage of the season.

Missing are Watts, Bate, PJ, Garland, Meesen, Bruce, Wonaeamirri, Tapscott, Gawn and Blease.

For those interested in totally useless trivia the Reds lead the Whites 9.6.60 to 6.3.39 at half time.

What about Scully?

Pity Tappscott isn't playing, probably not ready or Bate.

Wonder if Watts will ever be ready to play????

I know, after seeing Natinui last night im getting more and more impatient.

I know, after seeing Natinui last night im getting more and more impatient.

Remember Watts is almost a year younger than Naitanui. In some ways, you could almost consider him a first year player, given that was didn't get to focus on his footy too much last year due to schooling commitments.

Naitanui is also a physical monster already, whereas Watts is very thin.

Give the kid time, and we'll see why he was selected at the top of the tree.

I was waiting for someone to say that.

Naitanui plays one good NAB cup game against a team with no talls to speak of and the doomsayers come out.

Im not being a doomsdayer, just impressed with Natinui and wish we were abe to see what Watts can offer in action also. I understand he will come good eventually but its just frustrating having to wait, thats all.

Your right Jack is a year younger, and a year and a half behind Nic Nat in terms of making an impact and even more in body size.

Doomsdayers? That's a bit rich isn't it?

Pretty sure this response has been used every single time someone says this about Nic Nak, there is no need to feel insecure i'm sure Jack will get there eventually.

it's understandable that people can get a little anxious when you see NickNat dominate a game like he did last night, given we could've had that player on our list, doing the same thing for us... we've just got to be patient with Jack, who is going to be a longer term prospect...

Exactly, again it comes down to this whole theme of not being able to be critical of Watt's in anyway (even though i wasnt being critical). Anyway i refuse to believe that there is anyone on here that isnt slightly insecure about it at the moment.

ANYWAY BACK TO THE INTRACLUB.....

ANYWAY BACK TO THE INTRACLUB.....

Sounds good to me.

Reds hang on to win 14.7.91 to 12.10.82.

Liam Jurrah finished with 4 goals.

Tom Scully runs all day and has quick hands. His game was not as outstanding as that of Jack Trengove but considering he only went into full training in mid January after a knee injury at the end of last year, he's up there and our #1 & 2 draft picks are going to have a marked impact on increasing skills at the club.

I liked the games of Ricky Petterd and Jamie Bennell while Cale Morton just got better as the game went on and accumulated a lot of the ball although late in the game he was on Jurrah who was weaving some of his magic on the forward line.

Fair enough. I wasn't trying to have a go at you, just that it seems that whenever Naitanui does something good there becomes this talk of how we made the wrong choice with Watts or something along those lines.

I'm not insecure at all. I have full faith that Watts will become a fantastic player for this club.

I had to leave at 3/4 time but was very impressed with Grimes, Sylvia, Green and Trengove.

Martin did one terrific piece of play in the 3rd quarter. He made a lead running from midfield to the flank, took the mark at full pace and kept running, turned towards the goals and passed to a teammate in the goalsquare who goaled. Great work from a guy who rucked for most of the day.

Spencer was the surprise. He was ill recently and missed a bit of training and a lost a lot of weight, but he was impressive and competitive. Jamar played the first half which is great news after an interrupted pre-season.

Scully started on the wing for each centre bounce. I know he is slight and they are trying to protect him from the physical pressure in the centre square, but he looked out of place on the wing. He has played all his footy in midfield. He thrives on the pressure. Just put him in the middle where he does his best work. He may cop a bit but he'll learn, and it's a better option than playing him out of position.

The crowd. Great. It was my first intra club match but i was thrilled at the number of people there at Casey. Sorry i'm not good at numbers but is b/w 2500 and 5000 a fair estimate? They had less than 1000 at Moorabbin last night.

Thanks for the report guys. ;)

However, was anybody there at the Intra Club match who took any photos?

If so, hopefully we can have them put up here so we can all see.

I just got back from the game and will try and report what I remember.

Great crowd there today, I couldn't give a number but there were a lot of people there and a lot of kids running around in red and blue which is what the club needs.

I found it hard at first to take note of the players from both teams as I usually only focus on Melbourne, so I can't comment on every player as much as I'd like.

Key points:

Trengove: Is already in Melbourne's top ten players. Great user of the ball, moves well, finds space and will no doubt succeed.

Scully: Kicked a great goal late in the game and is very much and in and under player with his quick hands a highlight. He still does to kick up and under the ball too much when trying to kick long but his short passing was good.

Petterd: I like Petterd and I always have but his disposal was terrible. Missed a goal from about five metres out with no one within 20 metres of him.

Frawley: The biggest highlight from Frawley to me was his pace. His disposal has improved a lot and he was reading the play well.

Sylvia: Seemed pretty quiet at the start but worked his was into the game.

Jones: Still rushed his kicks a bit, but worked hard in the middle.

Jurrah: Did a few amazing things and was played up the ground at times. His attempted volley on the goal line from an in-coming kick had the crowd laughing (laughing in that only he could pull it off) but he did enough to confirm what we all know about him.

Davey: I think he only played the first half and was solid without dominating.

Bennell: His evasive skills are second to none, looks to have bulked up a bit, was fast, used the ball well and is just an all-out smooth mover.

I'll try and give more information later as those are what come to mind immediately.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
