Forget the rubbish about players having flu. My theory is that they couldn't find enough sober players to make up two teams.

lmao

bit disappointing.. me and a mate were gunna go... softcocks.

Wow, thats embarrassing.

originally to be 16 players a side-

'13-14' a side as ratten stated, wasnt enough?? wtf?

2 less players per squad, so we just cancel the day on everyone?? wacko.gif

those pansies didnt just want to get their pretty little heads wet!

last year - 'they were coming' -

this year - 'they gonna wait on the weather, before they leave the house!' - HA..

You can't blame the Blues because they were only following Andy Demetriou's orders after the AFL investigated the notorious booze cruise and specifically warned Kernahan and the Carlton board that the team had to stay dry!

GOLD

I don't like Carlton very much

Very insightful post of how much C&B doesn't like Carlton.

My thoughts of Carlton are that they really have messed things up. These next 2-3 years are supposed to be the time they 'make their mark' on the AFL.

What has happened is that they haven't been able to keep their list intact, have had discipline issues upon discipline issues and had to let go their game winning full forward.

Can't help but laugh really.

I can't see how they are going to improve on last year, especially with a really bad excuse for a forward line. Carlton will most likely got 7th or 8th again this year is my prediction.

Thats my two cents.

I agree, Losing Fevola was not part of their premiership plan, and i still do not rate the back line.

They will be mid table-We will not be that far behind them either.

I do hope we beat those bastards twice this year, maybe even 3 times.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.
