Matthew Bishop

I was watching parts of the 2004 grand final between Port Adelaide and Brisbane and noticed Matthew Bishop playing for Port.

I was wondering if someone could tell me what Melbourne got in exchange for him when he left?

Pick 42 - Michael Clark

Pick 42 - Michael Clark

Michael is the son of Dennis Clark. Michael only played one game in 2002

2 reason I hated that trade,

1 in hindsight the guy we got did nothing.

2 as a old firend and some one who played footy with Matty, I had insight into the club I love :)

someone will know but i'm pretty sure Stephen Powell was part of that deal and Eagleton went to the dogs.

Pick 42 - Michael Clark

Thanks for that. Sounds like we should have kept Bishop. He was better than pick 42 and would have been handy for a few years.

Good luck to him because he won a flag.

Not saying they're not connected, but I've got the two trades listed separately.

Stephen Powell from Footscray for selection 35 (Patrick Wiggins)

Matthew Bishop to Port Adelaide for selection 42 (Michael Clark)

Somebody would have to look at the original draft order.

much more effective player at melbourne than port. kicked 4 goals at each club, but got them in only 18 games at the mfc, while it took 132 games at port adelaide :P :P

My most vivid memory of Bishop is of when we were playing Port at the MCG and he (playing for us) was absolutely pummelled into the ground by Barnaby French. Mega tackle.

we did alright with stephen Powell though, the Bulldogs would have been kicking themselves.

First year with us & he plays in a GF None of there players have done that since'61

but maybe its Karma for stealing '54 off us....

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
