Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

People who know me know how rarely I get stuck into players, and how often I get excited at the merest example of skill, strength etc etc

But this kid has me worried. And it was before his knee injury. I have major concerns about how he'll go in the man's game. I'd say at this stage I'm not expecting anything more than a good flashy player who will struggle with some of the physical stuff, and struggle with finals.

Before anyone jumps down my throat, I will say that this is just guesswork having poured over video footage, and is just an educated guess looking at how he came through the system, his strength and weaknesses etc. I'm a massive supporter of his, and would love him to star as an AFL player. At the same time, I'd be interested to see if anyone shared my reservations.

Sorry Dan but after seeing how he has developed over the past year with only one leg I dont think strengh will be to much of a problem in the future, There are fully devolped men that are playing eg houlihan however you spell it that just cant seem to bulk up, our own mcdonald is another example of a smaller bodied player that has done very well. I think he will become a player similar to Deledio from Richmond just without the sooky attitude and better second efforts. Although I see your point I just think your wrong on this sorry.

Just another youngster who hasn't played a game that you can have a go at.

Ask Nathan Brown how well he got over his serious leg injury. I stand by my point that this is a serious injury and will take 2 years to fully recover from. Remember first the leg heals, which has taken roughly 8 - 10 months, then the fitness returns, another 3 - 5 months, then match practice and the feeling for the game returns, say 3 -5 months, then the mind forgets about the injury and allows the player to fully commit. I stand by the fact that Blease won't be doing much until at least 2011. As for my remarks over Tapscott, let's just wait and see shall we.

Just sitting back and enjoying your last name, Bob. There's also a sideshow bob out there too. Other than that there's not a heap to comment on.

Although I don't think that we can't just lump all broken legs into the same category. It depends on the type of break, the bones broken and how it has healed. Nathan Brown's break may have hindered him later in his career, however he broke the tibia so I don't think that the injuries can be compared. If someone can give an example of how past players have recovered from fibula breaks then I'd be more interested.

He won't be doing a full preseason this year (due to his recovery), didn't have one last year (due to a modified preseason strengthening program as a bottom age draftee) and would have very little fitness after missing a whole year of running. As such, I would doubt we will see a great deal of him at AFL level in 2010. I assume he will play a few 'developmental' games to give him a taste, but we shouldn't expect any meaningful contribution from him.

How odd to get a respectful response. I'm all wound up for a barney here... what am I supposed to do now?

Each to their own kegs. I'd dearly love to be proven wrong. Though I will say that I had concerns BEFORE his injury. I just didn't see what gave everyone else a wet dream in the youtube footage. I think he's certainly quick, and flashy, and loves a chasedown... but those things do not a great player make. Davey is great at those things, but those things alone weren't enough to make him as good as he is. And to be honest, Aaron still hasn't proven himself in finals. Sam would want to be a stunning kick to get to that level too...

We'll see I guess.

with arms like he is developing he will be the next cousins, just with the drugs I hope.

Arms like his?

They're still tiny . . .

At best I think you can expect a Nigel Lappin type frame.

There haven't been too many guys in the AFL (if ever) that have the same physique as Benny boy. I mean, even when he's not working out he looks as ripped as everyone else when they ARE working out. Adam McPhee, Barry Hall and Ben Holland are about the only guys I can think of that come/came close

Its not my fault you made a thread when there already was one.

I merely pointed it out. I've no idea what your petty comeback was as its been removed, but I think you'll find the moderator actually made my post irrelevant because they fixed your error and subsequent carry on.

Little do I care.

Little do WE care.. Werent you only going to be here for a week??

Really? Youre about the only one. ;)

The fact that NO-ONE could even catch him -and his strengths- disposal: particularly by foot and kicking goals at full tilt, didnt do it for ya huh?

Mick Conlan would leave everyone for dust imo.

He was a sales rep after his footy finished and one day he came into my mates fathers shoe store for a chat.

As Mick came towards the back of the shop, to chat to my mates dad - we were both sitting there after school hanging out- the poor bugger HAD to turn SIDEWAYS just to make it thru the doorway!! He wouldnt have gotten close otherwise! Our jaws just dropped.. Biggest person ive ever stood next to.

Does anyone remember Conlan in the 1990s at a has-beens state-of-origin type match, at nearly 50 y.o, booting goals from 50 mts out and still almost at an AFL level standard?

Ben Holland had the biggest guns in his day, he wasnt the flashest footballer by far but he was a huge mofo

Understatement of the year!

..i dont think Holland had a huge frame - think it was his training and preparation -apparantly the best at the club- that left him looking so pumped all the time..

Ben Holland, Simon Godfrey and Brad Miller make up the trio of worst footballers Ive personally ever seen.

Shamefully all 3 ending up at MFC at one point or another..

Not to worry tho.. Good times ahead!!

Hey Eastie Boyz, Adam Slater to play 4th div at Forest Hill in 2010.

Will dominate with his huge size and even at 35+ a good investment.

Muscled no, ability yes, in spades. ;)

I knew Mick back when he was playing as he was a kneighbor of a best mates parents in Dingley & we spoke & joked around nearly every weekend at the time. He was a well built lad back then & got even bigger later in his career. Are good days they were back then going to the Moorabbin ground weekly & regularly visiting the then VFL Park & giving the parking attendants grief as they chased us through the Car Park as we took our own shortcuts to our carpark of choice. B)

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
