Cameron Schwab appreciation thread

Cam Scwab was in the run home tonight with DR Turf and Francis Leach

great interview they gave him a good 10 minutes

main topic of conversation was the Darwin deal, Schwab was excited about potential of Darwin, think we will have good support with Jurrah and Davey and the other brothers in the team.

Luke Ball was bought up and the MFC are leaving him alone to think about his future. Ball's manager advised MfC not to bother him whilst on holidays, stressed again how much we want him and that we have a lot to offer

Most exciting part was the new jumper, being dark navy schwab spoke aout importance of the right colours how they mean so much to the MFC history.

He wanted to go back to the Barassi era with new jumper.

Said the MFC faithful will be really happy with it and it as close to the 50's colours as they could get

He also mentioned about how we lost a bit of heritage with the royal blue montrosity of the 80's and how we were reborn in 87 when we swithed to navy blue.

Schwab was part of the MFC in 87 and spoke fondly of the time It got me excited , as my first memories going to the finals with my dad in 87 as a 9 year old are still the best of my mfc life

Schwab is genuine in his love for the club and am so glad he is our CEO. The best move Jimmy and the MFC made in the last 40 years was to replace Mcnamee and headhunt Schwab.I feel great about the future, Melbourne people doing the best for the Melbourne Footy club it has been a long time coming.

I bought a new Jumper in '87 when i heard we were going back to the Dark blue.

That light blue jumper was hideous (no disrespects to the boys who wore it but it looked Horrible.

I can't wait to see this new jumper.

Schwabb is a Gun CEO. Bring on 2010

Schwab seems to make sense with his decisions he understands football and is a great CEO

can't wait to see the plans come to fruition and Melbourne be returned to strong rightful

place. I feel we're on the up so now lets win some games so I can sing the song loud and proud!

I think he's one of the few people who actually live up to a saying they like to use, I can't remember the exact words but it was along the lines of 'What we're doing isn't unique, but it is special'.

Sums up his whole attitude to managing the club - not looking for magic bullets and messiahs, just picking out all the things that need to be set right or done well, and doing them.

Would anyone else understand what I meant if I said that for the first time I can recall, it feels like we really have a CEO as a CEO, a president for a president, and a footy manager as footy manager?

As a club, we've never been better run. Ever.

The quinella of Cardwell and Smith would be hard to beat .

hhhmm I find it interesting that we were told to stay away from Ball yet the Saints List Manager is over in New York talking with him now..

"Drain flew out of Melbourne Friday lunchtime, arrived in New York on Friday night, left New York for Dublin on Sunday night, arrived in Dublin on Monday and will fly back to New York on Tuesday night in anticipation of talking to Luke Ball, who is on holiday, about his future. "

So why did he go to Fremantle?

So why did he go to Fremantle?

the same reason j farmer did, MONEY.

How old are you 2? Seriously, Joe Gutnick sacked Schwabby as he felt he was keeping information away from the president.

He went to Fremantle because he was unemployed. He may have yellow and black bloodlines but he is a Demon. This is his 3rd stint at the club.

So why did he go to Fremantle?

Business Challenge no doubt. Off Field that Club is Rocking have no fear.

I am also sure CS lwould have learnt a lot of new things that he can now Bring to the MFC, as can Chris Conolly.

He will Be a better CEO the second time around, & that doesn't mean he was bad at the first attempt.

Let's not forget though, that without Jimmy Stynes CS would not have taken the job...

I can only imagine what the mess was like 18 months ago!!!!

Luke Ball is still on St.kilda's list-They can do what they like.

We at the moment have to tread carefully. Poaching i think it's called....

Very much so. Still a delegation at the appropriate juncture would/might prove worthwhile. Leave all the paraphanalia at home and just go with the 'heart-felt ' simple-sell. Show him this is a club of passion and belief and "you can be part of it..its something very rare and special"; we're embarking on a journey through greatness to reward. :)

Scwabby has indeed been a revelation. He 'gets" this club. its a homecoming for him...not just a job.

I again hark back to the summit of last year... you could feel it it there...were on our way. Hes part of it.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
