T-Mac as a forward

Featured Replies

With a full strength demons side we have an abundance of players who can fill the key defensive posts. However as everyone knows we are lacking in key marking forwards. Therefore I would try T-Mac for the next couple of weeks as a forward, maybe centre half foward.

See how he goes, one pass into the forward line that stood out and showed that he has good skills and appeared to have a nice pair of hands cannot be any worse than miller or newton

Agreed - looks like he could play the hit up role (ala Miller) but can actually deliver to a target inside 50.

Its probably watts' role in a few years, but tmac should be given the opportunity there until watts develops.

Feel free to abuse me for asking, but...

who the hell is T-Mac. Tracey McGrady? :P I don't think he is switching sports anytime soon, especially to one where his pay check will be 1/100 of what it is now.

Tom MacNamara - debut game yesterday and showed excellent foot skills. Was hitting up targets all day. Pity those targets couldn't kick straight themselves. I'd love to see him play the rest of the year across half fwd. He earnt the chance to play the rest of the year out yesterday.

probably every chance Bails will do just that. i.e leave McNamara in and give him some time acoss the HF line. We're now probably moving into 'positive' experimentation mode ;)

I thought Tom was a positive for us yesterday. He didn't seem to be overwhelmed by the pace of the game, and had quite a tough assignment, minding Petrie at times, and conceding 7cm. His disposal was good, but his appearance slovenly!

Is it really necessary to wear those thigh bandages that make it look as if his undies are falling down???!!!

In time perhaps as a forward (some more growing and filling out to do), in the interim I'd rather see him as a link man using those kicking skills to feed the ball into the forwards.

Handy debut Tom.

It's not getting any worse down there

McNamara definitely showed some good signs yesterday, but his fitness levels are well, well below that of an AFL footballer. I sat very near the interchange yesterday, which was an interesting experience, and he was constantly having to signal to the bench to take him off for a rest. Given this, I doubt he'd play next week.

Same with Bail and Bruce, Bail straight away after 5 minutes knew his day was done when he came off, he looked very disappointed, and Chris Connolly on the bench had a very long chat to him, which was good to see. The Doc didnt look very confident when checking out Bruces arm in the last quarter either, it was a big hit he sustained, so he'd be doubtful. It effectively meant we had 1 fit player at the end, and that most of the time was Jetta who similarly doesnt have enough of a tank for AFL footy yet either. Would think therefore all 4 would be out next week.

I thought Tommy Mc was good in his debut.

Seems a 1 grab player (i.e. Sure Hands ) and had good decision making/execution skills with his disposal.

Looks like a real footballer who came of at 3/4 time in the seconds because we were short and didnt have time to get changed.

McNamara looks like the kind of player Bailey would love. Seems to me to have the ability/mobility/size to play forward and back, and could possibly play on a wing too. I really like the kid.

Yep, his versatility will be a weapon for us in years to come you' think. Similar to Garland in that regard. Both should be able to play forward and back in 3rd/4th tall roles. The thing i like about them as well is, in time and with bigger engines and body strength, could well be Pavlich/Goodes-type players, who could even go in the middle from time to time.

Was impressed with his debut, lots of poise and good skills. One of his passes inside 50 to set up a shot for Miller i think, was just sublime. Even the commentators gasped at how lovely the kick was.

LOL

JJC, those shorts are thermal compression 'skins', great for keeping the muscles warm and aiding in circulation. You'll find most players who've had soft tissue or groin injuries like to wear them.

What were you doing looking at his thighs anyway? Hehe ;)
