Scully, Trengove and Panos or Griffths would make me very happy.

My only issue is the Scott Thompson type go home factor of Trengove.

Yeah, that's the only concern.

Here's the stats on players who were drafted in the top 20, out of their home state:

(Doesnt include players drafted from Tasmania or Northern Territory as there's no 'go home' AFL club to go home to)

1997- 2004

Players drafted away from their home state - 68

Players remaining in the state they were drafted to - 43

Players who went home - 25

2005 - 2007

Players drafted away from their home state - 29

Players who have remained in the state they were drafted to - 28

Players who went home - 1

Obviously, of these recent draftees it's too early to tell how many will have gone home by the time they end their careers. But of the crop drafted over the last 3 years, the only one who has so far gone home was Josh Kennedy who didn't want to go back to Perth but was forced.

In the end, I think it all depends on how much a young kid assimilates into the club environment. Obviously, Scott Thompson didn't.

All I can say though is, if Trengrove is rated as highly as Scully is, I don't care if he comes from Pluto. We draft him.

I know it's very early and dangerous in many ways to talk about this too early, but hypothetically, we get the first two picks in the national draft and we end up drafting both Scully and Trengove do you sign them for 4 to 5 years (can you do that?), to prevent Trengove from leaving within our premiership window?

I'm not sure, but aren't rookie contracts standard? 2 years?

I think after that you can re-sign them for further years, like I think West Coast did with NikNat ealrier this year. I might have this wrong.

Most clubs initially sign rookies to 2 year deals - however longer deals can be offered also.

ie. West Coast offer all INTERSTATE draftees taken inside the first 2 rounds with an initial 3 year contract.

Just like Dayne Beams was offered extra years by Collingwood so he wouldn't stray to GC17... and he knocked it back. I love it!

LOL - People who think Lewis Jetta will be selected in the Top #10 - let alone at Pick #3 are kidding themselves.

He'll be picked up by Freo/WCE early in the 2nd round or by a club late in the 1st round.

The main criticism of Lewis is that he only runs one way - then again, he can be re-programed.

I had another look. A fair bit of Andrew Lovett about him, even in looks.

Still. A bit of goal-kicking flair wouldn't go astray. Maybe second round?
