Another Rising Star

I reckon Liam Jurrah is a great chance for a rising star nomination this week.

What a great thing that would be and in our 2 great wins (the ones in a row) we have 2 nominations.

Watch this space!

I think it will go to Liam but unfortunately it might be the Liam that plays for the Kangaroos Liam Anthony

It will not go to Liam Anthony as he is too old. He's 21.

Liam Jurrah or Chris Masten from WCE are the two possibles this week.

I thought you had play less than 6 games prior to round 1 this year, hence Masten would be ineligible?

Edit " Just looked it up, under 21 and less than 10 games prior to start of season. So Masten is technically eligible (9 games last year) "

Edited by name already taken

Well, if they go by teams that win games, Jurrah should get the nod if it's out of those two.

Got to go to Jurrah! Not only did he have more influence then Masten but he's also more eye catching. Better story for the AFL also if he's the nominee for the week.

Put your money on LJ.

Good enough for me. Keep feeding him those jumping beans RudeBoy. ;)

By god he's got a great leap - even off one step! He would have broken records at Draft Camp.

my house is on Jurrah. he will get it.

Also Dean Bailey on "The couch" tonight and Liam will feature.

Does he meet all the criterias?

He meets all the criteria for a sainthood, let alone a silly Rising Star nomination.

hmm awesome! I think this is the first show Bails has ever been on is that correct? Must be criteria of having to win two games in a row before being asked on a show? lol

I was at the the eagles saints game on sunday and if masten gets the nod above jurrah for that performance i'll tear my hair out. He is awful and the fair weather eagle supporters are already turning on him, which i think is a bit unfair. He was often referred to as the new fletcher... Bit harsh methinks, let's not say things we cant take back.

He's been all over the papers. Kicked 4 should have had 5 and gave a few off. No contest Anthony will have to wait.

4 goals and 4 score assists. it would be a joke if he didn't get it. I don't care what anthony did.

Exactly my thoughts! I was thinking that yesterday when watching the match - wonder if they could get him back there just to set some records for the fun of it!!

Don't think I've seen a first year Melbourne player impose himself on a game so vivaciously before.

That said, I still feel that Broughton deserves it for what has been an outstanding season - though Jurrah might get it for being a part of a winning team.

He's 23 on Grand Final day.

Is that too old?

Has been very good though, have followed him closely...

Yes, because of Supercoach...

I will Punch a Brick Wall if he does not get it........

He's already got it.

And weren't you the bloke who said we should delist Petterd about a week ago?

You didn't hit your head on a brick wall by any chance?

Tounge in cheek, but, jeez, what a bad call...

Thank God for Supercoach.

Someone mentioned eariler that to be eligible you had to be under 21 and less than 10 games before the start of the season, but Sportingbet have odds for him to win it - so I assume he is eligible.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
