Why do we criticise other teams for tanking yet the same people want us to tank ???

For those that are interested the last team to get a one and two priority pick was St Kilda in 2000. The year is now 2009, That is nine years to get where they are today.

Carlton is the other teaam to get a priority pick - one and three. Yet Carlton still has a way to go before being a consistent team - even with three number one draft picks and Chris Judd (taken as a number 3 priority pick). As long as cats like Nick Stevens is there they will not succeed!!!

Until we get rid of some ordinary footballers (ie Paul Johnson - great endeavour but just not up to the required standard) we have more pain ahead of us. Having draft picks one and two will not be a guarantee to success - winning guarantees success

Look at Essemdon - not a great side and I thought only marginally in front of us at the start of the season. They have played some really good football and i believe part of that reason is because they are winning - success equals confidence equals success equals confidence equals winning and exciting football

Finally the champion team of the last 58 games have no number one, two or three draft picks in their team.

Lets win and continue to win

I just want to see my team sitting around the rooms at the end of the game looking totally trashed from having given everything for the cause.

.... and preferably sharing that warm smile of victory

Ideal scenario:

Win V's WCE (For Jimmy)

Win V's North Melb (a little bit of pay back for us being their [censored] since 2007)

Win V's Freo (the only other win that looks feasible)

Richmond beat us and another team for 5 wins.

North win one more game for 5 wins.

WCE win one more game for 5 wins.

End result:

We get picks 1 and 2 and still win more games than last year ;)

It has become obvious in the last 3 weeks that we are simply not good enough to win 5 games this season.

Therefore we will either get picks 1 & 2 or 1 & 3.

From all reports Scully is a standout and their is little to split the next 3 players in the draft. Thus it makes little difference to us if WC win 5 games or not. Personally, I expect them to win several more games this season.

We must win this week. For Jimmy, for our supporters, for our pride.

Draft picks are no longer an issue........... we will get them.

Must admit, I was letting my heart rule my head. Your logic is impeccable, Rhino. Now I'm hoping for a very tight loss (a few behinds would suffice), .........................

You are too easily swayed hbt! A win for Jimma, team morale and us long-suffering supporters, PLEASE!

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
