Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Did anyone see this today?

I watched a little of it. They had an interview with Dylan Grimes who plays for Vic Metro, younger brother of Jack Grimes. A very level headed kid, much like his brother.

The programme also confirmed via a number of opinions that Tom Scully is the stand out. Was named best for Vic Metro against WA at Subiaco.

Incidentally WA touched up Vic Metro and Sth Aust won easily over Vic Country prior to the Adelaide v North Melbourne game.

A few names running around for WA included 'Winmar', 'Matera', and 'Kickett'....exciting youngsters. Matera kicked 4 incidentally.

Incorrect. I think you might have me confused with someone else. I've been pretty much in his corner TBH

Isn't he too young for this year's draft?

Been keeping an eye on this kid Grimes - his birthdate is 16/07/1991 therefore he is eligible for the 2009 Draft.

I've been hoping he stays off the radar and that MFC will pick him up cos he's Jack's brother. I think he'll be just as good as Jack, but a career backman whereas Jack will play in the midfield.

Definitely worth a punt with a later pick, ie. around pick 34. I don't think he'll go before then.

I was a bit worried too when I saw the Northern Knights also had a Glenn Grgic, but it seems he's too young.

we dont need him. he is a crap height at 192cm and we have enuf lanky defenders. Garland, Rivers, Warnock and Frawley are all around 192cm. We dont need Grimes

When drafted he would be 18 years old. He could still grow a bit more, such as Morton has. And by the time he reaches the age of 22 Warnock and Rivers will be 29.

If he's a really, really good player, then we need him.

The "in vogue" height for footballers (of various positions) seems to change every few years. And it changes with the rules...

If we draft a kid who's 192cm now, who's to say, first of all, that he won't grow (like Morton from all accounts)? And who's to say that the average height for midfielders won't be 190cm?

The more I think about it, the more AFL footy is becoming basketball.

Garland is 3 years and 3 months older than Dylan Grimes. When Grimes is 22 Garland will be 25, not 29.

The interview with little Grimes was fantastic. Considering how much I rate Jack I would think he is worth a punt at pick 34.

Jack should get in his ear, tell him to shank a few kicks and give up a few goals. Then pick him up at pick 50/60+.

If he is available at that pick, it may be worth considering. The draft guru said he expects him to get drafted. Still, it's all too early at this stage as to whether at what stage of the draft he is likely to get picked - whether he falls in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or even 4th round of the ND. Still speculative.

We must never, ever draft a player that is 192cm ever again. Are there any other bogey heights Freak that we should avoid. Brent Grgic was 188cm, I think Garry Lyon was too.

I think Grgic was born on a leap year, so was Weetra.

We should definitely avoid 192cm players born on a leap year, especially when the moon is in its first phase.

Hilarious...you say he's a crap height at 192 and then name 4 of our most important backmen at that height. According to your theory we should never have drafted Rivers, Garland, Frawley or Warnock in the first place because they're also the crap height of around 192cm. Seriously some of your posts are laughable. Almost as bad as your rants about Jack Grimes' flawed kicking technique!!

The football recruiting business is such that sentimentality can't play a part but having seen Dylan Grimes handling the interview on the programme I hope we get the opportunity to draft him. By that I mean that I hope he's in the mix ability-wise when one of our picks comes around. However, there's very few openings for siblings to play together at AFL clubs these days.

Agree. You can tell Dylan would love to play at Melbourne with his brother. Would surely be his dream scenario. But he has as much chance of playing at Melbourne as any other player in the draft based on their individual talent.

I would love to see Dylan and Jack running around together on the G. But I would hate to see the club reach and take him in the draft earlier than he is due just because Jack is his brother.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
