He's an absolute gun. Admittedly I didn't see much of him when we played West Coast, just as I didn't see much of him the week before when he played in the VFL, and yet his possessions and Supercoach stats are always extremely high. Maybe a move to the middle when we regain our injured defenders? Who knows, but it's exciting considering we have Bennell and Grimes and Frawley and Garland running out of our back-line...

Has footy smarts, and can read the play well. Good kick on him too. Shows leadership qualities. Required player.

you missed tough as nails for a young player as well! For me thats the most exciting - his attack on the contest!

Yeah, contrary to the misguided posting of some, and the particularly nice aspect is that he seems to have no preferred foot.

In a crowded midfield this often means an effective disposal rather than a desperate handball to a team=mate under the hammer.

I get the feeling that Grimes will be that special type of player (throughout his career) who steps up when the team is going bad and can turn things.

John Worsfold type? But better.

Grimes showed some good signs against the Eagles. He's worth another run this week.

Jack "Frank Grimey" Grimes shows a lot of promise & ability. He's also got good Smarts from what i can see. I really enjoyed watching the West Coke Game.

We are going in the right direction.

He's only played 2 games but is already an automtic inclusion in our side when fit, that's why he came back in to side even though he didn't do an awful lot for Casey against Coburg the week before, it was just about him getting match fit. With Grimes and Watts developing and having players like McLean, Moloney, Miller, Rivers, Green and Davey on our list we are looking very good as far as leaders and potential captains for the future go. Add to that the potential recruitment of Scully and hopefully Dylan Grimes aswell at pick 18??

it also seems as if another player could enter the top 3. allen christensen from geelong falcons. He averaged 28 touches, and over a goal a game and is half aboriginal by the look of him. looks like daniel kerr. hard at it too. he was mentioned by shifter on 'tac stars on the rise' as the best player in the tac cup in his opinion. big wraps

Did hear about him on sunday to. Maybe if we come 15th only winning 4 games then we can look at him at pick 3. Scully & Christensen in the midfield would be nice to see.

I discussed Butcher and Scully with a prominent player manager on Sunday. He's not sure where Butcher presently fits in the draft but in his opinion there's Scully, a big gap, and then the rest. Said that if he ends up at Melbourne he'll Captain the club at a young age. Will be an absolute star.

At the risk of taking this thread off topic the two best kids this year may well be midfielders, Morabito and Lucas are over in the West look very good. Next time you talk to him ask about these two please.

Christensen seems like a gun. Shifter also mentioned that Christensen is related to Long and Rioli, so fair pedigree (I think his dad played for Geelong?). Was BOG in the first 3 rounds of TAC, and 'just' good in the other games too. Wouldn't be displeased if we nabbed him.

I'll try to remember, but I suspect he won't put them in Scully's class. His exact comment was "Scully is the best kid in Australia. There's Scully, a big gap, and then the rest".

I knew he was highly regarded but I didn't realise that the gulf was that big, this just reinforces my belief that we cannot afford to win more than 4 games this season.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
