We are 1-4.

We have Geelong (H), West Coast (A), Bulldogs (H), Hawthorn (A), St.Kilda (A), Collingwood (H) before the split round.

My educated guess is that we will be perhaps 1-10 at the split round. 2-9 at best.

The football department has yet to unleash Watts, Blease, Strauss, Bail and Jurrah. Robbo, Grimes, Whelan, Bell are still playing with Casey 1sts/2nds.

Prior to the Richmond game, Bailey & Stynes came out in the media stating it was a 'terrific opportunity' and important game for our members to win the game against Richmond. To come out and be first to the ball, etc....competitive, competitive and ....'competitive!'

Stynes even sat within the cheer squad behind the goals.

Melbourne showed determination and glimpses of what I believe are our teams 'true colours' and won by 8 points after being in control of much of the game after their best quarter of football in the second term so far this year, kicking 8 goals.

When will be our next win? Will we get an indication from Bailey & Stynes again prior to the match, not dissimilar to what was said prior to the Richmond game? When will we see Stynes behind the goals again?

They've come out and said the likes of Watts and Blease will probably debut in the 2nd half of the season.

They've said for everyone to be patient, they know where the list is at and what they have to do to rebuild it. Get my drift?

Is everyone happy?

One things for sure, when we see the inclusion of Watts & Co. and our leaders say that the upcoming game is an important opportunity and important that our list experience a win to boost morale etc, etc.......I might just visit the TAB. Because I might just see our next win. Whilst all is quiet, it's business as usual, as they work to rebuild the list, by tweaking the starting 22 to suit.

hahahahaah well its a bit far fetched but its one the best thread reads to get you thinking.

A tough run for a while, if we can pull a win out of one of these, Collingwood would be my preference. Not all that impossible especially with Kif 'dogging' contests.

We'll be 1-10 at halfway. If we were to win one, I'd like it to be against the Pies............and in much the same fashion as the Bombers did on Saturday. Would make my season.

As for the players we are yet to unleash. We will see Watts in the second half of the season, and possibly Jurrah. Grimes should be in the team in the next few weeks.

I doubt we will see Blease, Strauss and Bail in the seniors this season. Maric and Grimes are ahead of them all at this stage.

Close,

I would prefer it to be from a real dodgy double 50m penalty from mouthing off say dids or Rocca with 5 sec to go. Give em something to whinge about for a while! They might even start to eat their own!

I hope we knock over west coast. i don't get to see the boys over here very often. a win would make my year.

Two wins the budgies have and suddenly the bandwagon is getting some momentum in the west and their "fans" find a voice.

Someone at the pub had the nerve to ask who the hell james mcdonald was when he kicked that goal. their ignorance astounds me. don't get me wrong, we were awful but for a supporter of a team who probably aren't gonna get a win away all season to tell me my team is pathetic.... Grrrrr. i envy you all in victoria, where people actually know a little about our great game outside of how cute hunter is and how hurn is definitely the competitions next big thing. muppets

Good for you Benny. Nice to know you're flying the flag over there.

As hard as its must get for you, just know we are about to rise, in the not too distant future.

Good to see benny showing his true colours. I think the Dockers showed their 'true colours' against Sydney. But will we see the same intent from them at the ball and the game in general over the next few weeks?

I know. Do you ever get "So, do you barrack for West Coast or the Dockers? What? You support who? Why would anyone want to barrack for Melbourne? What have they ever done?"

I'm currently stranded in SA and substitute Adelaide and Port for the above, and you have an exact copy of a conversation I have at least once a week.

Also, see sig.

the priority pick would make my year. its our last chance for decent picks before gold coast comes in. theres no point in winning more than 4 games. if we do, i'll be so [censored] off

Four looks a big number from where we are and looking at the draw ahead. Don't think you'll end up being [censored] of, Freak.

I expect Bail and Strauss to taste AFL level this season, and Bail in the not too distant future. Bail isn't competing with Grimes or Maric for a position in the side.

i agree allthough i wouldnt be [censored] off.

Id hate to see us start slowing heading up the ladder then eventualy dropping back down, with the lack of an extra mid or forward. I want to make sure we develop proply and havea list thats capable of winning a premiership, with GC next year i think after this year it will be our last chance.hopefully next year our journey will begin toward that premiership.

I agree.

And I blame the stuffed AFL system for rewarding underperformance. Its flawed. Its wrong. But I will be spitting chips if we have another season where we get 5 wins like 2007. We need to make the most of this opportunity to make sure we have the best players on our list.

We lack quality forwards we lack pacey midfielders of high quality.

We are behind the eightball in so many ways not just on the field.

After hearing Brock speak on Sunday about the full time weights coach for the first time the club has within the footy department since Brocks first year, it really hit home how good opposition clubs have it and how Melbournefc have had to do things half baked, due to a lack of resources.

This year we are actually training on a ground that has goal posts!

Players no longer have to finish on ground practice and then drive for a hour to a 3rd rate rundown weights room to do their weights. What a farce that is.

There are no two full time development coaches as well.

People do not realise how far behind the 8 ball MFC is with regard to off field resources. Compared to WCEs set up and the Lexus centre, MFC had little.

Off the topic a little, although whilst on this - do you or anyone else for that matter know what the cost or the annual salary (approx.) of a full time development coach (ie at another club) - what it would cost the club? Would $70,000 - $75,000 be considered close per annum?

Back on topic....

My 'True colours' team (at the moment): -

BACKS: Whelan Warnock Frawley

H-BACKS: Garland Rivers Buckley

CENTRES: Davey Moloney Sylvia

H-FWDS: Green Miller Bruce

FWDS: Wonaeamirri Watts Robertson

FOLL: Jamar McLean Jones

INT: P.Johnson Petterd McDonald Blease

Emerg: Grimes Maric Bennell Martin

Missed: Wheatley Bell Bate* Jurrah** Dunn* Bartram* Bail** Meesen* Newton* Cheney**Jetta**McNamara** Zomer** Spencer** Valenti**

* Must pull finger out to make my 'true colours' side (on thin ice, but capability I tend to question).

** Prefer to see more

For the sake of the exercise - I'm allowed four emergencies.

'True colours team' = No injuries at all 100% fit, our strongest team to win a game IMO at the moment. Difficult exercise for positions I must admit. Of course the side can change - horses for courses.

Understand your angst, benny. I heard two mentions of the Dees on Perth radio on Monday -- on the ABC they said, sort of wincing, that we were an embarrassment or depressing or something (style of play, poor crowd) & on a commercial station they were alleging the club was advertising Gary Ablett as the reason people should turn up next Sunday -- much guffawing over that. I fumbled for my phone to make a complaint but figured it's not worth getting into a row w. a radio galoot.

But I do bend the ears of friends/colleagues about where the Dees are & that we have a lot to look forward to.

We won't be 1-10.

We have heaps of players coming back, it is very likely we will win 1-2 games over the next 6 rounds.

We are not a 1-10 team at the moment.

steve what games are you watching, they will chop and change that side all season, why picks 1 and 2 my friend.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
