Eddie's swipe at Melbourne and the rest of the world

On SEN last night McChins was commenting on the possibility of Richmond replacing Terry Wallet by Sheedy if the Toigs lost their next two games.

This is what he said:

"They play Melbourne Round 4. What better way to start?"

Eddie forgot that Melbourne play Collingwood in Round 2.

If that doesn't provide us with extra incentive then nothing will.

We have never needed incentive to beat the filth. Eddie just makes it more satisfying...

Pretty sure Mcguire would say that fully in the knowledge of playing the Dees next week.

What better way to spark up the game?

In the Kennett mould.

Would love to beat the filth...

We usually do better against them than everyone expects, especially Coll. supporters, and especially on Queen's Birthday.

.

We nearly beat Hawthorn in the NAB Cup, and they nearly beat Geel. last night, who FLOGGED the filth in the NAB Cup GF.

This is undeniable proof that we'll beat the Pies by at least 10 goals!

They're going pretty poorly v. Adel. at present. Let's hope that continues!

The Filth lose by 3points!

What a disappointment!

Perhaps they'll snap up Sheeds before Richmond get a chance! :o

Always a laugh when those scumbags go down. In what is a strange ritual when they lose, they continue to go down in the rooms after the match!

:rolleyes::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

There was a filth supporter going right off at the umpires at the end as they walked off and security had to step in.

That's pure gold!

:rolleyes::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

easy way to mane sure you coach the season out - make sure you play collingwood early.

maybe malthouse told mcguire his plan to stay in revolved around a couple of early wins that shouldnt be too hard because they have us early...his job isnt safe either

I like this sort of stuff. Keeps the game interesting.

To be fair, your only as good as your last game. And our last game last year was as bad/worse than how the tiges played the other day. The comment eddie made was warranted.

Still going to smash them though. ;)

I have always been in the line of thought that is is good if the filth play before us and loose because if we dont win it does'nt seem as bad and they are not as bad like at work.

Attention mods,

Is this an even playing field about who can post.

I started a thread about the filth losing by 4 points not about everywhere eddy.

By the way the mod who changed it said 5 points oh.

Explanation please.

Even sylvia magic gets to post.

It is still 5 points.

I hope the mod that changed it is not a goal umpire there could be an uprour

Eddie eddie.... everheard of KARMA....same goes to Kennett !!!! Throw humble pie, eat humble pie !!!

Wanna have some fun with the filthy Colling@#$% supporters? Tell 'em that they were robbed coz Daisy had the ball at least an inch inside the boundry. Then stand back and enjoy.

COLLING@#$% NOT HAPPY WITH LOP-SIDED FREE KICK COUNT

They go completely feral when they lose the free kick count 18-14???

What's going to happen next week when they play Melbourne?

Will Demtriou order his slaves in the umpiring department to make sure that Melbourne is rationed to one free per quarter to soother savage Eddie's frayed nerves?

If you think that comment was unfair then feel free to answer the rhetorical question - who would you prefer to play against if you were a Coach?

Melbourne's got to be right up there on the list of preferred opponents...

Indeed.

Comment:

If Richmond lost to Melbourne in Round 4 after a 0-3 start - which is quite feasible, I would have thought that would be the straw that broke the camel's back in sacking Wallace. Not after the Richmond v Bulldogs game in Round 3.

Each to their own.

Not 100% sure about that - 7 out-of-contract-this-year coaches would be eyeing off their clash with the improved Demons with trepidation.

We're the nail in the coffin - Malthouse, Wallace, Harvey, Knights, Worsfold - we have career ending power.

I wonder if Rod Nicholson will write an article about the 30-11 free kick count in St Kilda's favour tonight?

I hope the umpiring doesn't get altered tomorrow as well

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
