Could very well be.

Thought read once that he went broke in the mining industry. But i am sure he is onto something else by now.

Certainly hope its the case and he digs deep.

He did a great thing for our club, its just a shame that it ended the way it did.

It would certainly shut the Bastards up at "Talking Carlton" Did they give our club a spray or what!! HATE THEM!

After the way he was treated last time around I wouldn't blame him for not digging too deep. Apparently, he has made a big financial comeback but whether he's prepared to kick in the $'s is another thing. It's great to have him back and hopefully he will put in the balance of the pledged amount that he was supposed to put in at the time when he was deposed (nearly $300k) but I wouldn't go holding my breath while waiting.

I remember reading over xmas that he has bought prospecting rites for gold or diamonds in the NT that potentially could be worth anything. Maybe a big diamond on the jumper, but get used to more sunday games if it happens!

Surely thats not possible unless they extend the season right?

stoopid afl and stoopid sunday games

I wouldn't even suggest it, there's no point, bringing up stuff like that will just inflame a delicate situation. If gutnick does comes back to the club then it must be with a clean slate, all previous issues should be forgotten and will should be solely focused on future relationships.

Yep, i'm pretty sure they would move the grand final to a sunday if we ever made it.

A big welcome back to Gutnick.... no mention of Szondy, that's also good news.

I remember chatting with Jo at Thursday Training before the 2000 Grand Final. He was so excited! (So was i to be honest after i made the made the ABC TV News with my Prediction)

Jimmy's strength is his networking skills i have no doubt, to all those on here who have been knocking him on threads-Hold Back on that, let's just see how this all pans out. We could still be envied in Victoria in a few years.

A new Gutnick article from the HUN.

The crux of it: "Asked if he was a chance to contribute financially again, Gutnick said: "It's possible . . . it's possible.""

If Jimmy can lure peole like Gutnick back to the fold who want to contribute, well he is worth his weight in Gold. Stynes the mediator. Just what this club needs. I hope he comes back anyway because he got melbourne out in the public eye for a few years there. We were rocking. Go Jim get all the old boards together. We are all Demons.

Joe should be welcomed back for the time and commitment he put into the club in the past. The fact that much of the excitement is because people think he will put in more money is distasteful in the extreme.

I hope I did not convey that sentiment in my post (if I did it was unintentional), I merely wanted to mention the crux of the article - I agree as a Melbourne man he should be welcomed back at the club irrespective.

The most pleasing sentiment from that artical is that of unity.

This appears to be a prudent objective of Jimmy's and one he seems to getting some traction on.

To survive we must put the all demons of the past to bed and forge a new era as a strong and united club.

Credit goes not just to Jimmy but to all who are putting their differences aside and coming back into the fold.

United we stand devided we fall!

United we stand devided we fall!

Yes. We need to end the squabbling. We're looking less dysfunctional these days.

Szondy is in the photo in today's sun with Spencer, Reid, Gardner, Gutnick and Jimmy. He is the only one not smiling and he looks sheepish.

Agree.

Exactly my thoughts too

ALL DEMONS UNITED!!

Jimma's just wanting to unite all of Melbourne via inviting past presidents so hopefully what has happened in the past can be cast aside to show that all in sundry are behind the one thing we all and the past presidents have in common. That they all follow and want to support the Melbourne Football Club. Good on Jimma for "doing so".

while it would be great if joe gutnick was able to support the club financially, i hope we do not ask. he has already contributed more personally than anyone else.

if he decides to dig in again i hope we suggest he does it a bit different:

-gets his company to sponsor the club, rather than just donating.

-uses his contacts to help organise a large sponsorship from another company

-if he insists on putting his own money in, we should ask him to become a player sponsor or join one of the coterie groups, rather than just donate money.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
