Sponsorship ideas?

Our new Stynes led board has done a tremendous job to this stage and I think a major sponsor will be named very shortly with a better deal than most will have expected. I have great confidence in them.

But this is my idea to generate $$$ for the club.

I am not a big rap for our clash jumper. But it is an improvement. Therefore I have come to the idea of selling this jumper under particular conditions to sponsors. This idea possibly includes away games but not games at the MCG. Only our traditional jumper will be worn at the MCG....

Based on the 2009 season our opportunity would look like this;

13 MCG games where we will wear our traditional jumper. This jumper will include our major sponsor (obviously our major sponsor may not be as substantial as other clubs).

That leaves 5 interstate games (incl. canberra), 1 game at skilled stadium and 3 games at Etihad Stadium. Thats a total of 9 games. And lets face it! They might aswell be interstate games also. Our home is the G!

These 9 games could generate great cash flow if we sold our jumper for sponsorship. I believe it could genarate a potential $150-$300 per game depending on the demand and tv coverage. Hopefully more though! Our major sponsor also has the opportunity too.

Our jumper may look like this. eg. A RED or NAVY BLUE jumper with the trim being either red or navy blue. A Demon and AFL logo will be present on both breast with the sponsor having great exposure on the front and underside of the jumper number on the back. Similiar too Premier Leauge Football.

My other thought. We already play 1 game in Canberra. But I believe we could relocate 1 more game to Darwin for example. We have some great Indigenous players who would relish this and would be great to the clubs coffers and supporter base. This would be against an interstate team and would be ideal at split round time if possible.

Hawthorn play 4 games in Tassie. Bulldogs 1 in Canberra and 1 in Darwin.

What do you think?

I can't imagine that our "soon to be announced" major sponsor would be rapt with your idea. They have to pay additional money to have their company name on the jumper for 9 other games.

Maybe that was our selling point to Mission Foods....

That'd be around 10-20% of a total sponsorship (for a whole year) for just one game, with minimal exposure (5% of the season in terms of matches).

But also you can't forget that matchday is only a small part of sponsorship. A sponsor goes on all apparel bought by supporters, all team gear worn by players, coaches, support staff etc., they are entitled to corporate functions, appearances by players etc. A very small percentage of these duties could be performed in a one week span, certainly not for 10% of a total sponsorship deal and any money gained by doing so (which I couldn't see as raising more than $20g or so) would be lost by our main sponsor spending less money on the deal.

This is all just my opinion of course

What we need is "Members Special" through our next major sponsor/s.

Similar to the $25 AGE special but on a grander scale that will attract more members.

Example-

Let's say we got dual major sponsors in HiSense Electronics and JB HiFi.

HiSense has a 42" LCD T/V with 1080p and 100hz motionflow (perfect for sport viewing)

Retail price at JB HiFi of $1746.

If an arrangement could be made between the MFC, HiSense and JB that all 2009 members of the MFC were able to purchase the above LCD T/V at say.... $1250

provided that they held at least a 2009 Red & Blue Home Games Only Membership ($170). Which is a saving of $326.

With new product offers each season.

This would attract more members including people who support or barrack for others teams and non AFL followers, who then may start supporting the MFC after reading the Almanac etc.

The above arrangement and pricing is only an example, as it would have to work for all parties.

If something like this could be arranged it could increase membership dramatically. Eg. 10,000 extra Red & Blue Home Game Only Members at $170 = $1.7million.

On the other hand. To lure a major sponsor or two. We could have there name on our away jumper and clash jumpers as I mentioned in this topic above.

This would be great exposure to any sponsor and would reap a substational $$$ for the club.

Not sure if that would be approved by the AFL. But I cant see why not! Taking sponsorship to a new level.

Not sure it would get us more $$$ though. It'd just end up being messier.

Not to mention sponsors would want to pay less, as they don't have the privilege of being an exclusive major sponsor that is associated with MFC every time its mentioned.

Instead they have competition for that title.

I like that you're thinking outside the box though.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
