Mono, you had to question it, now i'm thinking it's back to around 62%. After Rogue had done such good work to get it to 75%

Oh wise one, please spare us your carp.

Let me guess, your source is Jim Stynes' son's preschool teacher?

yeah, thats it.

This is the Big Decision i beleive. If the Board get it Right we may stand as a club with no more AFL Handouts. What was Gardiner doing for the last six years & Szondy My God!!!

I heard the Fox deal is 72% done

No need for this comment, you'll see.

Im suprised you havent called for Whelan to be named CEO.

Posted

No, I will not see.

I will never see how on the 19th of August the deal between Fox and the MFC was 75% completed. As in he has 20 pages to sign and he's signed 15? What do you mean by this? Who have you heard it from.

Whelan should just be everything, and i've heard he's about 45% through contracts to be our next coach/mascot

Oh fellas really......

I have to say that I really liked what I read in the piece that Bub put up originally, but all this rumour, innuendo and statements being made without a shred of evidence (to us that is) to back it up makes the whole situation sound ridiculous. I realise that is a hell of a lot of what we do in here, but still.

Grimsey honestly you can't just say that Fox is nearly there, giving a percentage no less, but isn't happy with Stynes and not expect people to react.

What you have said is a fairly massive statement, but where does that opinion come from? How do you know? Is it close to the truth? I am not automatically doubting that you may know more than the rest of us, but that doesn't mean we don't get the right to question you when statements like that are forthcoming.

And 45 I am not sure Wheels is quite tall enough to be the mascot ;) !!!

It will be interesting to see whether Caro is on the money here.

Two weeks ago, after much anguished thought, Fox decided he would stay at Geelong.

A lot can change of course, and influence brought to bear. I doubt that he would be considering re-entering the race with multiple others (and risk being overlooked again), but I guess if it's been offered to him then he would consider it.

We'll find out soon enough.

Just bear in mind, though, the comment of Key Deefender:

I just hope he genuinely wants the job and then actually lands it.

You wouldn't want him to take the job because he feels obligated to as a result of entreaties from MFC, AFL, MCC et al, if in fact he has genuinely decided to stay at GFC.

He would be a fool and a lightweight if he were to think like that and it would raise core questions about his professional judgement.

I really doubt anyone would take on a position, especially a vital position such as CEO, out of "obligation". If he's anything like professional, he'll take it because he wants the challenge, not for any other reason.

Edit: Beaten by Rhino!

You guys are all looking for all these political answers for why he's now interested and ignoring the obvious. What would happen if it was you. Your mother says "I'm not going to have you hanging around the house with us supporting you. You go and apply for that job or I'll give you 'What for', Mr Fussy."

That's probably it. But last I heard there were 2 guys who were considered the front runners (I've got no idea who they are, it was in the paper), so maybe he missed the boat.

It was reported on radio last week, after the news about Schwab ruling himself out but before Fox was back in, that it was down to 2 candidates, which they believed to be Storm CEO Brian Waldron and Terry Dillon.

I haven't heard Waldron's name mentioned since Fox's name has come back up, but Dillon still seems to be an option. Maybe they thought it was Waldron who was the No.1 target after schwab pulled out, when it was in fact Fox again.

Seems like Fox can take the job should he choose or we'll go with Dillon. We could do a lot worse then either of these 2

He’s obviously not a fool.

Aware of what he went through a couple of weeks ago, and the decision that he eventually came to, I’m not surprised by this outcome.

My earlier comment was that if another club continues to knock on your door after you’ve told them you’re staying where you are, and eventually they convince you to come over, the motivation and reasons for the second decision might not be as powerful as the first decision. Money isn’t everything.

wow dropping out for a second time!!!

Must be frustrating stynes!

Confirms Waldron is not interested in the job.

And they offered $500,000 for Fox? wow isnt that nearly as much as macca?

Who the hell is going to get this job? This must be done asap!! I thought it would of been done behind the scenes due to the quick sacking of macca!! I was wrong

Also the article states that green and us are still in a stalemate and Mckinley is being chased by a number of melbourne teams???

If he has done his due diligence properly the first time then he knows where MFC is at. should know what he wants in a role, identified the issues and moved on. And you are spot on when you say "the motivation and reasons for the second decision might not be as powerful as the first decision".

His first decision should rightly be for himself based on making a full and professional assessment and he had made it and your assessment that he would feel "obligated" by some other issues is puzzling.

Its academic now given he is out of the race.

I am just wondering what has really changed in the past 2 to 3 weeks that has put Fox back in the race. <_<

Nothing at all really.

Just hurry up and force Terry Dillon to sign before he has a chance to rule himself out

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
