Melb, Freo and WC

I think this will be the final ladder positioning of the three teams:

14. Melbourne

15. Freo

16. West Coast

This screws any chance of us getting Natanui, but we will end up with Robbie Warnock who will leave Freo and enter the PSD.

Then we will draft Jack Watts at pick 3.

I want Natanui, but can anyone see us finishing below WC?

We play them at the MCG in Round 20, and we will smash them.

We could finish below Freo, thats lineball.

I was gonna say that ending up at 15th is likely.

WC will tank, and will get less wins than us. Freo will probably win more games, but even if they don't their percentage is WAY higher than ours.

- The only thing I'm worried about is the priority. Another free one inside the top 20 is huge.

- If this is true, WC will get Naita and have the coaches, money, time and resources to wait and turn him into a superstar. If he came to the demons, he would end up being just ok...

- Pick 2 would get us Rich, but there's some doubts over him these days. I hope we go for Hurley or Watts if not Naita... Big CHF/CHB... We're screaming out for KP players. As long as it's a FOOTBALLER that we pick (should we miss out on pick 1).

For what it is worth here is the fixtures..

The Fremantle vs Melbourne, Fremantle vs West Coast and Melbourne vs West Coast should be interesting to see how the bottom order works out.

Watts is the go, reckon we will come 15th, OX said on SEN that he's heard we are definitely No 1 choice for Robbie Warnock.

I think we'll avoid the spoon courtesy of West Coast's simply rancid football. Freo have been at least competitive for most of the year. Sunday marked at least the fifth time they've lost in single digits this season. I think we'll finish 15th, with the Eagles taking home the Nui Cup.

You'd think Freo & ourselves would get another 2 wins on the board, Freo v MFC & WCE @ Subi, and us v WCE @ G and one of the Bummers or Tiges games.

WCE is what concerns me, there half a chance against Bummers or Tiges @ Subi, cant see them winning both though. Mind you they do play Freo & us so anything could happen.

It looks as though it'll be pretty clear after Round 19, heading into our game against WCE in Round 20.

Would be interesting if it was percentage for the Spoon! I was quite pleased when Greeny's goal didnt register yesterday, best of both worlds, 1 point is the best possible winning margin for us at the moment!

Ox also told me once when he was [censored] at Crown, that Travis Johnstone would win a brownlow at Melbourne......

Really? Interesting. The only problem with that is the fact that if we're 15th, and Robbie wants to come to us, Whoever is 16th (WC, say) will have first crack at drafting him in the PSD...

Unless I've not done my homework correctly.

He did some really good things yesterday, he shows a lot of poise and skill for a guy that's built like an absolute beanpole.

WCE will tank and get no. 1. and probably take Rich.

We'll finish 15th and take Watts.

I'd still target Prismall, who's ready now.We have loads of space in our cap now that Neita is retired and maybe White.Offer Prismall $1 Million+ over 3 years, which is a lot more than he's getting now with Geelong struggling to stay under the cap. He'd be a starting midfielder for us at the G,i reckon we'd get him.

Offer Freo a third round pick for Warnock or we'll take in the PSD for FREE.

Take Prismall with our PSD pick.

Watts,Prismall,Warnock.

Sounds pretty damn good!!!!!!!!

I would take that right now. Things are looking up

Seems like you have it all sorted out. Except for one thing. Who's to say our side won't go on and win 5 out of the next 8 games? Fremantle will keep playing Warnock, so his value increases. It could well be a second round draft pick.

Ox also told me once when he was [censored] at Crown, that Travis Johnstone would win a brownlow at Melbourne......

If he realised his potential he could have.

Watts,Prismall,Warnock.

Sounds pretty damn good!!!!!!!!

Dream scenario for me!

From Shifter's wrap:

"Jack Watts – A key position player, Watts has shone up forward, taking 16 marks and booting 11 goals. He also has demonstrated his team orientation on a number of occasions highlighted by an exceptional assist in short passing (with great vision and skill) to teammate Tom Scully to seal the match against SA. With 5 goals already on the board that game others may have been tempted to look for a 6th."

I'll take one of those tanks.

Jason McCartney who works at the AIS and works with these kids all years says of Jack Watts:

Jack Watts: Jack is a star. He’s one of our AIS boys and he’s also a very talented basketballer. He wanted to balance both footy and basketball through the scholarship program, but in the end he has chosen to go for football because his workload was just too great. He was a star in Vic Metro’s win Vic Country. He was a little bit quiet against Tasmania, but obviously very prominent against South Australia.

He kicked five goals, had 17 disposals and took three really big contested marks. He has great agility, great lateral movement and the ball just melts into his hands.

There has been a lot of talk about the WA boys and how talented they are, but Wattsy is a great kid and is right in that mix.

I really hope we take Watts,we really need a Key forward for the next 12-15 years.i'm not fussed about great ruckmen as so many premiership teams have won with good/average ruckmen but gun midfields and Forwards.

Would you take Dean Cox-great ruckman or Jonathan Brown-gun Centre Half Forward?

No-one knows how Naitanui,Rich or Watts will fare at AFL level, there's been a lot of gun Under 18's that weren't guns at AFL level.

I'd take a Key Forward over a ruckman

I would be happy with Jack "Charlie" Watts for sure. Naita would be nice but i bet he would get Homesick in 2 years and go back to warmer weather. Watts or Rich could be 10 year players. 1 Player does not make a club. I still believe winning a few games is not so bad for this club right now. All will be revealed within 8 weeks

Do we still qualify for priority picks because of last year? Isn't it something like 8 or 9 wins over 2 years & you get first pick? Therefore we probably will still get first pick even if we finish 2nd last.

WCE will tank and get no. 1. and probably take Rich.

Naita will definately be no1 no doubt about that. No 2 is up for grabs either Rich or Watts. I'm looking forward to waching Fox all day next Wednesday. That should give us some idea of who goes no2.

When Freo and West Coast play that means we have to win

two more games not to end up 15th or 16th.

Is that right?

Really? Interesting. The only problem with that is the fact that if we're 15th, and Robbie wants to come to us, Whoever is 16th (WC, say) will have first crack at drafting him in the PSD...

Unless I've not done my homework correctly.

If Warnock wants to come home the Eagles won't stop him no one wants a player who doesn't want to be there.

Nah he meant that if WC have PSD pick one they wouldnt pick him up if he doesn't want to be in WA...

My money's on him not making the PSD at all. He definately has trade value.

That's exactly what i meant,West Coast wouldn't take him.

We have Freo over a barrel,we'll give you a 3rd round pick or we'll take him in the PSD for free or we might play fair and give you a second rounder.

I'd rather take Prismall in the PSD..

14. Melbourne

15. Freo

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
