Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I understand exactly where you're coming from and tend to agree with most of what you're saying (about captains needing to be consistent, etc), but have to ask why you think we specifically need a midfielder as our skipper next year?

i say we need a midfielder because I can't see any of our forwards or backs being up to the task...

Miller is my second choice to Green by the way. The only thing holding me back from throwing my full support behind Green is the fact that his teammates clearly don't rate his leadership potential enough to put him in the leadership group this year but have done so with Miller. A skipper needs absolute full support from all players, which is why Neita was so successful. You could just tell everytime they ran out on the ground with Neita leading the way that he had their full attention and support.

I hear what you're saying on Green... i do remember reading somewhere that he only just missed out on the leadership group... he and another player, I can't remember who were both right on the edge... i think it came down to Bailey and the coaching staff deciding how many players they wanted to have in the leadership group, and they didn't want to have too many, so Brad missed out...

from memory every player voted 3,2,1 and green missed out by 1 or 2 votes, so there was nothing in it really... it is a call for the coaches to make, and if they feel he doesn't have the support of the players then he wont be picked, but from the way he plays and carries himself on the field, i think he's the best candidate...

on brock if he continues the way he's going this year, by the time next season comes around he'll be ready to take it on i think... has been very very good for us this year...

the bloke is a top 3 draft pick. in the first half he got 3 possession playing forward! ffs the bloke just loves teasing us! the banana in pyjamas could have kicked that goal he missed right in front!! it was captured on national tv that he was too fuckin lazy to man up instead barking at others to man up when they all had a man! and dont give me oh he hasn't had a injury free pre season! coz the guy has all the tools to be a star but he just too darn lazy!

lift ya effin game colin!!!

Come on Dazzle, take the blinkers off, got those 3 possies in the 1st quarter, then gained a ton of it in the 3rd and 4th.

Buddy Franklin and Wayne Careys love child wouldn't have touched the ball the way we were getting killed in the 2nd quarter.

Your better than that, he is averaging 17 ppg as a forward and kicked 3 goals against Collingwood, he is having a good season and deserves at least some credit.

Playing purely in the forward line and back himself in has given him lot's more confidence than he did under ND. Not bagging Danners but it's a simple fact that some players just thrive under some coaches but fail under others. He's looking much better, and IMO at this point he's vindicating his selection in the leadership group.

The closer Miller stays to goal the better he plays and more damaging he becomes, as soon as he leads up to the wing his game goes downhill fast. I've been a big critic but this season he has demonstrated a glimpse of the player he might turn into.

Consistency should be his first goal but he should never have been put into the leadership group, it just put far too much pressure on him earlier in the year.

i said this in the bartram captaincy thread... your captain needs to be consistant, can't go missing... while brad has developed a lot this year, he's not up to captaining an AFL club yet... still doesn't impact games enough every week... he tries, but doesn't always have much effect... your captain can't be a key forward and average one goal a game...

neita was great as skipper, but one problem with him was that if we were in trouble he was stuck at full forward, would have to throw himself to centre half back to help his side out...

we need a midfielder to be our skipper next year... and it will be one of Brad Green or Brock McLean... I wanted Brad Green to be our skipper this season, but I'm all but certain it will be one of those two next season...

I say just give the captaincy to the man and see how he goes. He always plays with a bit of fire in the belly, and making him captain just might bring the best out of him - on a consistent basis!!

BRAD MILLER FOR CAPTAIN

Did you exclude his stats from those games this season where he was playing down back?

Miller plays his best footy when he doesn't think about what he has to do, he just does it!! Moves the ball quickly and long instead of handpassing it to a player next to him. Millers game this week was one of his best, 2 fantastic goals from beyond 50 and one caught on the line.

yep without a doubt. and as a CHF he has kick multiple goals 3(?) times this year, and not kicked a goal 6 times.

i would love him to step up, kick goals every week and be consistant enough to be a the captain, but i dont think he is ready yet. and i think a lot of his problems over the past couple of years have been due to the weight of expectations on him.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
