I think 4 overs is the minimum. Is rain around?

I think it's 4 overs, which seems an outrageously small sample size being 20% (50 over cricket requires 20 overs if I recall correctly - which is 40%).

Actually, I'm hoping that there's no rain tonight because it might give us an opportunity to see Joel Dernbach batting. After seeing him bowl and in the field, I reckon there must be some reason why he's playing international cricket.

His sledging?

why isn't big bash played in Roctober?

could it be the ACB board & other admins', would rather attend the spring carnivaals?

Nothing to do with that, but moreso that TV and crowd numbers are going to be better over the current period, where you've got the Xmas/NY break, school holidays, better weather, etc.

yes but the 50/50 would also do better in that summer slot.

perhaps if they didn't stop the people having Fun.

allow the 'Mexi-Can Wave' to go around, even the mcc could get in on it, allow the 'Calypso Drummers' Back In, to help create atmosphere. have the tramp jumpers there.

make it a carnivaale`

The crowd and television ratings for domestic 50-over cricket versus Big Bash League cricket aren't just in a different league, they're in a different stratosphere.

the crowds were fantastic for 50/50, years ago, before the authorities decided to ban all the fun.

It became sterile.

there used to be drummers & music, etc, that were all thrown out by the fun police. its no wonder the crowds dropped off, they killed the excitement.

Flower gone now KP has been told he will never, ever be selected for any England team again... Total and utter devestation dealt to the Poms in the tour down under this summer... loved it!!!

They can suffer in their jocks. I now await for english immigration to triple importing / coaxing any person with a hint of cricket ability to climb onboard for their rebuild. English eleven? , world eleven would be closer to the truth. They got a belting, the worst in their history, by a team I wouldnt rate close to to one of our best ever. As Ted would say "we stuck it up'em." If the poms think they can improve, so can we.

Wednesday looms as a big day for sport in this country. The opening day of the First Test v RSA or Geelong v Clllingwood.

I'm in a quandry as to which one I should watch.

can I respectfully suggest, which one you shouldn't patronise ? no pies on jacks back.

I know recently we discussed crowds at international test match venues.

Watching the NZ v India test - this match could well go down to the wire (probably today) and it'd be lucky to have over 1000 people in attendance.

your right about crowds.

same in SA,the crowds are rubbish[might be different against us].

same in india,wi,sharjah,

20x20 has killed it,along with slow over rates and a lack of class spinners

watto injured again=lucky we took hughesy, even luckier thier spinner cant spin

No ceegar for India - missed out by 40 runs.

I suppose if the Aussies can topple the Proteas over there then we could take the #1 in the world mantle.

Easy choice. I hate watching black and white TV.

The domestic 50/50 crowds were never anywhere near the BBL crowds.

add music, africaan/calypso drummers, fireworks, trampoline dancers, mermaids in a pool, & see the reception.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
