With Rivers and Moloney definite outs this week we can give a big effort and still lose honourably.

The young players will be learning every second they're on the field and I'm happy to take that.

To give Richmond a walk up start for yet another set of early draft picks would be a travesty.

Definitely time to look at the bigger picture...just have a look at the Dorks and the Blues.

(And I didn't mention the 'T' word once and I think I got away with it.)

We must pick up Naitanui and then deal hard for a low 1st rounder to get Hurley.

This will go a long way to building that spine we have sorely missed.

Don't get me wrong, Rich would be awesome too but we have a plethora of current and up coming midfielders.

Look whats happened to the Eagles without their star running players, look at the Saints not dominating the middle, look at the Bombers, did you see the Tiges on the weekend get smashed in the 2nd half by a dominant group of Crows running players?,.

We need to build on our midfield stocks to add some who can win their own hardball & also deliver pinpont to the forwards 1st up & we need another pick around 10 - 15 for a Key Forward, then more Key forwards further down the draft for insurance.

Hopefully we'll grab Robbie Warnock via tradeing someone?

After 11 rounds we have 1 win. Play the kids give them Game time. At years end have a HUGE cleanout and start afresh. Bailey has no reason to have made Favorites. He must treat the situation as a business

We've allready started fresh in 2003, and we're freshening up since, now we're extending the house to fit our kids in their own rooms. Some of these kids will be tradesmen, some will be lawyers & some will be bankers, & some will have to get out when old enough to go rent.

With the excitment Nautini is generating, he has the potential of been a fan-favourite and a marquee player which is something we desperately need.

A type that brings supporters to the game to watch.

Even in such a dissapointing season this year, players like Auzzie Wona bring Melbourne supporters to the game because he is exciting to watch and a player of the future.

If Richmond win LESS than 5 games, even if they don't finish last (ala Carltank) they will receive a PIORITY pick in the first round.

Having aready won 3 1/2 games if they loose to us Twice our No. pick is assured. If not we've snookered ourselves.

It's "four wins or less" (16 points), not less than five wins. So Richmond's draw comes in to play there.

So the only basis Richmond could steal the priority pick at 1 is if they didn't manage to win another game all year.

Melbourne x2

Freo at 'g

WC at Subi

Essendon at 'G.

Port at Aami

Carlton at 'G.

as well as the less likely Brisbane (at the dome though), Adelaide, Geelong and Hawthorn.

If Richmond can't manage a win out of that... we'll see them in round 22. Surely we can't lose a priority pick in our last game two years in a row. It would go down in history that we copped almost as much of a penalty for winning two games against tanking opponents, as Carlton did for sustained flagrant breaches of the salary cap.

Given that Meloburne winning three more games for the year is optimistic. I'd say I'd love four wins and pick 17 as a bonus.

I'm also starting to get the Naitanui bug. Maybe I want pick 1 too...

But I'd hardly complain about Hurley coming in, being given the number 9 and told to become the next David Neitz. I can see it now - early career playing at CHB and beating Wayne Carey (sorry.. Lance Franklin) and earning AA honours, then going forward and getting another AA and a Coleman medal.

Seriously, given the hype NicNat gets, might as well spruik it up a bit for Hurley as well, just in case.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
