Backs Creese Savage S Plummer

Half backs Vearing Richter Thurley

Centreline Long Setchell George

Half forwards Gilmour Hardy Geappen

Backs Gilchrist Lamb Biddlecombe

Half backs Yze Martin C Johnson

Centreline Poyas Dunn T Johnston

Half forwards Tregear Crowe Monaghan

Forwards Maric Sautner Holland

Followers Meesen Summers M Johnston

Interchange (from) Plymin Spencer Waller Whelan

NOTE: As Tasmania is a stand alone side the 12:10 rule applies and Sandringham is restricted to a maximum of 12 Melbourne listed players.

Five Sandringham players have made the VFL state squad although I'm not sure that Shane Valenti now qualifies as he is on Melbourne's senior list:-

  • Rod Crowe

  • Ezra Poyas

  • Nicholas Sautner

  • Peter Summers

  • Shane Valenti

Well only 7 have been named on the ground so there'll be 11 with the guys on the bench I presume

Unless there's a fitness test for some of the Sandy players. There'd be some doubt over the availability of Yze and Whelan. No Newton either... still no word on the extent of his 'injury'. There's also the possibility that we'll take two emergencies to Adelaide and they won't play on Saturday.

Poor Wheels, what in the world is going on

WTF, is Juice still alive or what?

WTF, is Juice still alive or what?

Strange indeed that Juice has not been selected to play the last two weeks after serving his one week suspension.

Of course, CJ wasn't selected to play and turned up in the team against Williamstown so who knows what the hell's going on with team selection and our players these days?

Juice got a big knock to his shoulder at training earlier this week so he'll be out for a week or two. It wasn't anything too serious.

On his facebook his update says" does anyone want to donate a knee to me plzz! hmm i think there is suthing wrong with him that we dont know...

Anybody know if the game is being covered on a radio station?

Former Bulldog, Robert Groenewagen is being interviewed on Tassie’s ABC Grandstand. He says Tassie started a little slowly but worked their way in front late in the first quarter. The momentum has swung back Sandy’s way and they now have streaked away 9.11.53 to 4.6.30 (and I thought no Valenti, no Sandy!). The weather's better down there than it is in Melbourne!

He’s also speaking about the success of the Tasmanian Under 18 team which has won all three games in the Under 18 championships (Div 2) and now goes on to the First Division and will play SA on the Adelaide Oval in its next game.

Hawthorn which plays four home games at Launceston has more than 40% of the local Auskickers registering as Hawk supporters. It seems to me that this idea gives some credence to the concept of establishing a base at Casey Fields where the population is growing enormously.

How balls is it that they're broadcasting from the game but not actually calling it? I turned it off. No point wasting work's bandwidth for that pile of yawn.

On the Hawks memberships/Auskick registration, that doesn't surprise me at all. They had a big following down here already. I reckon their partial move down here has been a huge win for both their club and footy in Tasmania as a whole.

It is a bit of a yawn. Pity you folk down in Tassie - you're missing out on the Coodabeens!

Half time:

Tasmania 4.4.28 4.6.30

Sandringham 3.6.24 10.12.72

I was wrong about the Coodabeens. Apparently they're going to cross to them after 1pm. They're now interviewing the great Tasmanian cricketer Brett Jeeves who's played one game for the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. Awesome stuff!

Geeves is actually a pretty popular character down here. He's always been promising cricketer but this season finally delivered. Don't forget it's a Tasmanian radio station you're listening to Jack.

Is anyone staring for Sandy (particulary demon players)?

You're right by Geeves or is it Jeeves?

Sandy: 15.14.104

Tassie: 4.7.31

No info on players as yet.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
