Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Crumbing forward line of Davey, Wonnemari & Maric

As the title suggests in the coming years we are going to have 3 crumbing forwards who are just excitement machines. Whilst we haven't seen Maric in full flight yet he is a kid where the hype is justified. Melbourne fans will love him, opposition fans will hate him. We all know how well Davey can play when the team is up and running. As we continue to improve as a club his performances will only get better. We don't need to mention anything about Aussie but baby Bryon.

So all we need now is a decent marking kpp player. Perhaps were not a shoe in for 16th place now. There's this kid called Michael Hurley who is very much a player in the Jarrod Roughead model. Is expected to go round pick 3-5. Maybe he is now a more realisitic chance of jumping into the red and blue than Nautini

Agree, looking very exciting. Maric will get a game by the end of the year.

I have heard good things about Hurley but as i have said in previous threads if we do not take Natinui if available then it will be one of the greatest mistakes that this football club will ever make since Norm Smith.

Its a valid point...from all reports Hurley fits the most difficult recruitment bill - quality KPP player.

This weekend we've seen the difference that Franklin, Roughead and Pavlich [it was damn near MFC V Pavlich 2nd half] can make, and these types of players don't come around too often [How the Tigers must be kicking themselves for at least not picking 1 KPP & 1 Midfielder back in that draft]. We badly need another KPP [keep in mind the Docker's were missing McPharlin this week and he has given us real headaches the past few matches] and probably even more so then another ruckman and quality midfielder with zip.

From a recruiters standpoint it sound like Rich is the lowest risk option in that he has already shown strong performances in finals matches at a senior level.

Natanui would be box office...much harder to ascertain how much he would influence a game [maybe a lot, just hard to know right now]. And it would be easier to trade to gain a ruckman then a potential Brownlow medal winning midfielder or potent KPP.

All these prospects are exciting...my point is that I don't think pick 1 is just Natanui V Rich...Hurley may be the best fit for the MFC's requirements.

MFC4life what he was meaning was he does not think we will finish bottom 2

Was skim reading, failed to see that sentence condenmed, thanks for pointing that out. I have been blinded by infuriation by some posters suggesting we take Rich or Hurley of Nick-Nat so was to eager to pounce.

Funnily was just talking about Hurley with his dad. very interesting conversation. He is playing for Vic metro v Vic country on Saturday.

He reckons recruiters will almost always go midfielders and ruckman and most recruiters will admit its to save their won ass, as they can 'tick the boxes' and say don't blame me if things go pear shaped.

I asked him about Natanui and Michael played on him and reckons he was able to take him out of the game and lead him into the forward pocket (Michael was playing full back). He reckons Natanui doesn't quite know where to run and there is argument whether you can teach that or not. Its like the Lance Whitnall argument in reverse.

He reckons he has a fantastic pair of hands and not only a high leaping mark but good solid mark. His big question mark is he reckons he can't kick, but reports say he is getting better.

In a nutshell he said Dees should take Natanui if they have number one, but he barracks for the saints and doesn't want me to buy him a tartan rug and thermos if the Dees get him.

Interesting stuff BR. It has been well documented that Lance Franklin apparently couldn't do ONE chin-up when he arrived at the club. How far the freakish can sometimes come.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
