Has this thread reached its nadir? Talk of ablutions, nasty stains, I mean really. I think of the halcyon days on this thread when I could converse with the likes of Hemingway, BB, Moons, even DC occasionally or Uncle about the political situation in Cuba and other parts of Central America or the world in general at an adult level and feel we were adding our bit to the sum total of human knowledge. Well those days seem to be passed us now with this talk of toilets and ablutions! Where to from here for this thread I ask?
  2. Hey Wrecker why don't you go for a swim up on the once Great Barrier Reef north of Cairns and have a good look at the devastation. Climate Change is happening now, it is not something that may happen according a model after 2030 that you believe has been concocted by a conspiracy of climate scientists. The climate gravy train (worth a few hundred million) versus the trillion dollar vested interests of the fossil fuel industries, who would a logical thinking person back? Well we know it is not you, too busy obsessing over some IPCC conspiracy to look at what is happening in front of your face.
  3. Good to see Donald touring the medieval kingdom of Saudi Arabia and wheeling and dealing with the Princes, while taking into account of their track record on human rights, religious and gender diversity. And he has pointed to the evil empire that is Iran and their sponsorship of terrorism and the need for action against them in alliance with Isreal as well. When we talk terrorists, how many Iranians were on the planes that flew into the Twin Towers? We know how many Saudi citizens were on the planes. Was it 19? And the mastermind was a Saudi associate of the Saudi Royals, Osama. Obviously on 9/11 there was nothing to see here, so best we get any high ranking Saudis out of the US pronto and then later we convince the Coalition of the Willing to destabilise the whole region by blundering into Iraq which then has a knock on effect on Syria, Libya and now Yemen and it all lead importantly to the birth of ISIS and sponsored atrocities in the West.

Demonlanders I am need of advice. I am headed to Sydney this Friday primarily on family business with the good wife. However she has then taken the opportunity to book tickets for the Hawthorn v Sydney game on Friday night and asked me if I wanted to go ( as if I had a choice). I naively responded yes as I have never attended a sporting event at the SCG so this would be a unique experience for me and I would not particularly care who won so could just sit back and soak up the atmosphere. Now she is demanding that I wear Hawthorn colours on the night and has packed a yellow and brown jumper and scarf in my suitcase! I have drawn a line in the sand on this and said I will need to seek guidance from my Demonland advisors before I can make a decision to wear those colours. Your advice on this is most welcome.

  6. Expecting a diversionary new war front to open very soon. North Korea, Iran anyone?

It's been a bad week for me too Uncle. A slight accident on the way home yesterday, taking a short cut via Merri Creek.

These bananas go to waste every year, tonnes of them in Queensland because they are too long, too bent, too straight, too thick or too thin for all you pedantic bananaophiles that inhabit this thread. Just stop and think for a moment about how wasteful your demands are and lift your game!

I am sure you have Uncle but sorry what are you talking about? Sorry I have been out of the loop this week, what with being summoned to the Palace at short notice this week by Her Majesty. You can imagine my apprehension on the 20 hour flight to London as I presumed the worst, perhaps it was a life threatening health issue for our Majesty or our own Sir Prince Phillip! Or perhaps Her Majesty was planning to abdicate in favour of Prince Charles, in which case I would be asked to take on even higher honours, I am sure, as we were both class captains at Timbertop all those years ago. However it transpired that I was informed by Her Majesty in a personal audience at the Palace that Prince Phillip will be withdrawing from Public life in August some 30 years after he should have, in her words! Anyway I have just landed back in time for tomorrow's clash somewhat jet lagged to all this chatter.
  10. With the Fairfax journo's on strike I suspect The Age editors are grabbing anything that comes in from a half respected source. I liked the list it looks like it was compiled by Bastards Incorporated!

I googled this claim by ADC at the time believing the same point you make only to find, yes Raptors do have extraordinary binocular vision and they see detail we will never see but eagles and Hawks also have 320 degree peripheral vision compared to our 180 degrees. So Fact Check in this case says the claim is basically true!

What is this football related rant doing on this thread? Where are the moderators? However it is a fair comment, but my reply is we have reverted to our normal state over the past 20 years. Last year was an anomaly for so few injuries, our norm for as long as I can remember is 10 to 12 on the injury list with 4 or 5 of those being in the best 24. That is our lot I am afraid, unlike the Dorks, the Cats over the past 10 years.
  15. If I am a poor soul trapped in a Syrian town I wonder how much difference there is to me if I die from a barrel bomb, a bunker buster or a phosphorous bomb or perhaps as a child I die when I am drawn to the yellow colour of an unexploded cluster bomb. Perhaps I have been injured by a cluster bomb and I go to a local hospital that then gets bombed by Russian or Syrian airstrikes and I die. it seems the West can live with this but if I died from being gassed that is overstepping the mark apparently, either way I am dead. What is the big difference?

Yes Uncle I am stocking up the cellar as we blog! The last thing I need is an extra tax burden when I order my usual latest vintage 10 dozen Grange for the year! I mean don't they realise that such wine taxes will cost thousands of grape picking jobs, done by 457's and backpackers by the way.
  21. Meaning what? Looks like Donald is very high maintenance at this stage.

As I said earlier Special, sheer luxury! The stories I could tell you about growing up, six of us kids, in a shoebox on the High Street, no parents, they died before I was even conceived! Don't go looking for sympathy from me. Abject poverty can be character building! Look what it has done for me, Special. Toughen up, embrace your abject poverty and turn it into a positive experience, you can aspire to a better life if you just work hard enough. Now you may not get paid award rates but don't let that deter you just keep working for the better life that is always just over the horizon.

Special has Batman Park become overgrown with trees since I walked past just a few weeks ago? Very odd! The trees must be blocking the view to the Yarra. Do you get WiFi in there?

    Sheer luxury I say!!
