Good point Uncle but then who is the Ernest who keeps posting with us? I am starting to think Twilight Zone stuff myself. Come to think about it, while I was on my 5th daiquiri at Hemingway's I saw this guy in the corner, in the shadows with black hair smoking a cigarette and talking to a camera I couldn't see! Time for me to get out of Manly I think.
-
I did add a photo but it just collapses into an imagepeg, not the first time?

Has anyone seen Ernest lately? I have been sitting on a daiquiri for hours here in Manly at Hemingways, still hasn't shown up.

His old man is there in the Adelaide rooms tonight, Jake said dad was there with all his mates from Romsey in Victoria! Do we need to get BBO to start working on Lever to get him over the line?

Is that Rodney on the right?

The 4 to 6 that MFC is so used to.

If JT didn't get a look in this week I doubt he will now, as much as I hate to say it. We had 5 big names out, the next 5 best options also injured, then the 4 inform VFL players sin binned. Given our outs we at least needed a key forward who we have limited options to cover, a defensive half forward, a half back and someone to help in the middle. If JT didn't get the call up this week, it is not coming anytime soon unless we are no longer in contention for finals or have so many injuries there are no other options. His papers are stamped unfortunately, I fear.

Which new kid would you have sacrificed? You realise when you have 5 of your best 10 out and 5 next best second tier players injured (J Smith, Brayshaw, T Smith, Garland, VDB) and another 4 good VFL performers in the sin bin, whoever comes in would find the going very tough against a side like the Swans. Probably do more harm than good to a young player's confidence.

Viney out for a month they are saying this morning on the footy shows. Tyson not being mentioned so would be a chance.

I said we should have played him down back when he was playing development league but no one would listen to me?
-
And should have been a free kick for blocking Max from contesting the hit out. Happened right in front of the umpire but play on. I thought the umpiring was atrocious last night not that it affected the outcome, it was just hard to work out their decisions. Holding the ball, incorrect disposal? Anyone understand the rules anymore?

The scheduling was rediculous and counter productive for the AFL who want to preserve their Friday nights mostly for the best performing clubs that will produce the best spectacle on the night that gets the bigger TV audiences. So why schedule us for 4 games in 18 and send us to WA to boot, which is effectively a 5 day recovery for our first Friday night block buster in how many years? Sheer incompetence from the people who determine the AFL FIXture.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 15
Earl Hood replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not a great looking side on paper I must say. Fingers crossed that we are competitive and no thanks to the AFL for the scheduling. -
I agree we should make some changes just based on then fatigue factor. We have basically a 5 day turn around from WA. Stupid FIXturing by the AFL yet again. Casey have had some standouts in the past few weeks so we should look at JKH and Kent to add some fresh legs. If Watts doesn't get up we need to look at Weeds but I would rather he played a few more games at Casey.

It should be where you are first deemed to take control of the ball not where you land in the process of taking the mark unless you have juggled it all the way. This is what I proclaimed in the 1987 preliminary final when Simon Eishold took a lunging chest mark in our goal square but then slide off to the pocket and was asked to kick from near the boundary line and shanked it, instead of being able to line up dead in front. Harry Beitsel at the time said you would pay the mark where the player ends up but that is [censored] because if I take a lunging mark running back toward the goal line with the flight of the ball and slide past the goal line, do I then line up on the boundary fence and then kick back thru the goals for six points? Its OK I have had theraputic help over this issue and have since made a full recovery over the 87 final loss to The Dorks! Well sort of.

Just watched the replay and JL had a lot of slick handballs in traffic I didn't notice last night live. Cane Cornes had a point but it's not a big deal.

Add Morton to the list, started very well, showed promise but with some flaws. Just think the club burned him, he needed very close mentoring, guidance and encouragement but I believe he got jackshyte help in that period both Neeld and Bails. The club had no idea, just thought top picks would deliver in spades with no need for help from above.

Tom Mac's goal was unbelievable! And thanks to some misses from West Coast late.
-
Agree if a side can kick the set shots and the ones running into an open goal they win. We should be 3 goals further up!

Only saw a bit of the 3rd and the last quarter but very impressed by JKH he looks very balanced, clean hands and knows how to get the ball and delivery was very good. He looks a million dollars at this level. And has the penny dropped for Kent with 8 or so tackles and 30 odd possessions?
