Why the heck did we recruit Brian Royal back!?
diesel replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Do they coach them to leave one side of the stoppages full of our opponents? Whoever devised this game plan should be out of a job. -
Could be worse. Thank God the Western Bulldogs stole the corn chip company from under our noses!

You obviously haven't seen a photo, or you wouldn't make that joke.....or would?

I have no doubt the club hierarchy knew Scully was gone but I don't know if this would have rolled into that? I do think TS will go down as one of the worst characters to ever set foot in the MFC and that his presence had a poisonous impact on the playing group. Perhaps we've just seen a bit of that in the last week or so with an us v them attitude in relation to the knew FD's methods?
-
He won't have to unless he can come up with his FOJ sponsor and a new BOJ sponsor. Contract is up at the end of the year and must be in doubt. I think CS has some great qualities and feel for the MFC but this incident looks like it could be fatal.
-
If that is what happened both of those blokes should pack it in now. They would be two extraordinary breaches of trust.
-
It's time the AFL looked at the interpretation of the law which says ducking is play on to also be applied to incidents where players go-low. I know there was a warning sent out to players who were sliding head first into opponents legs to gets frees, same needs to be done IMO. It's dangerous and it's often not the fault of the tackler.

McGuire is impossible - Just a Grandstander
diesel replied to Harrisonrules's topic in Melbourne Demons
Could you really imagine anyone at Collingwood (or elsehwere) telling Ed what to say? He just needs to shut up. It has nothing to do with him, there is no proof of any genuine concern (as you point out most recently he has behaved to the contrary). Ed's PR brief is about him, his show and his club. He will continue to drive his own agenda on it and probably couldn't be happier than to see the MFC under the pump. -

Spot on AW and as I say, if he was really genuine he would work in the background not grandstand, make emotive statements and build pressure on our board and admin. P*** off Eddie! -

McGuire has no interest in the MFC. Anything he says is grandstanding and putting himself and his club in the best light, such as his assertion that Collingwood "let" Melbourne have a home game every QB when it is our fixture requests to which Collingwood simply stays mute. No doubt there will be a conga line of back slapping Collingwood supporters and journos saying "good on ya Ed!" The point is that there is no need for McGuire to announce this publicly. If he could assist and was genuine he would shut-up. Such public announcements are really only going to add further pressure and destabilise the MFC, which IMO would be part of his real motive. -
Melbourne leads whilst others play "catch up".

But the situation came to light on Wednesday! I'm very surprised that it will take until early next week for Bendigo to formally dump EW and that it hasn't already occurred. Don't they have phones in the country? That's a pretty sloppy effort. It also sounded like Essendon instigated the covering of the EW logos on their gear. -
He is a half owner of the company, maybe even a majority shareholder i.e. Ben Polis IS Energy Watch. EW are rearranging deck chairs ATM just to try and stop the bleeding!
-
If that's correct then the club has stuffed up in its due diligence. They would be all over problems with a potential playing recruit...fail?
-
No one is blaming the media. Do you think Energy Watch, the company themselves saw this coming and they could go under because of it! Only fault I can see ATM is that the MFC didn't check Polis' Facebook, so who knows what he was posting on there back when we inked the deal? We'll find out soon enough.
-
Unfortunately it's the media that calls the tune and based on what I heard of the presser (before SEN cut it short to go back to ads and a comedian FFS!) the line of questioning was immediately into the club not doing due diligence. The press are absolutely uninterested in good work or good stories and did they really need to ask about us taking the moral high ground? They simply don't care, they are blood thirsty, dribbling and as we've seen with Ruperts mob they can even be creative!
-
I would love the club to dump Energy Watch straight away and sue Ben Polis if we could? This man should not be allowed anywhere near the Footy Club. I would glady contribute to remove Energy Watch from our jumpers. My Daughter has a new jumper and I can guarantee she wont be wearing it.
-
He said he wants to stay at MFC. Offer him what's he's worth to us and if he doesn't take it, see you later! We've seriously had so much bad news in relation to the MFC in the last few weeks I just don't give a flying over anyone that would want leverage off us. Incidentally in relation to the article with so many payers being free agent at the end of this year why has the article chosen to highlight Jamar? Is there a concerted effort going on somewhere to hover a black cloud over the MFC?

AFL Employee leaked info about indigenous players
diesel replied to BarrassHarrass's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't hold your breath WYL. I think if the senior coach is saying "let's move on" it's improbable the Pres will want to chip in, at least not in the immediate future. Perhaps he will once it's had time to settle down or wait until we see something worthy of the title 'united club' on field. -

I think he would know what's happened and it may as Daisycutter has said be a simple case of a misunderstanding or a lie from Mifsud (perhaps over a few beers with his so called 'mate') I'm not entirely sure he would be happy with the way it was handled but as I said, what's to be gained by taking on AD or the AFL or a bloke (Mifsud) they have for whatever reason decided to protect? -

What's MN supposed to do? He has obviously eyeballed Davey and even passed him on to Caro Wilson. Davey has denied it. When it became public he asked the AFL to investigate it. At the end of the day his priority is to prepare the team for a game this weekend.Did you really expect him to pour fuel on it? I suspect MN knows all he needs to know and has a plan to deal with it. He's clearly not the type of bloke to take this lying down. -

I think we'll find that Aaron has sooked to Mifsud about something? Reportedly came back from off season in poor condition which can't have gone down well. Looks like he's just not up to it, we'll find out soon enough? Mifsud is a c**k-up. He should have been sacked. I can't believe Dimwit sees Mifsud has been done wrong by Thomas reporting a private conversation they had but he can't see the very serious breach of trust and lie repeated by Mifsud in his conversation WITH Thomas. Hypocrisy must not exist in the AFL dictionary! -

Most definitely this has come from someone in the club and it needs to be got to the source of and explained. As a member I'm left with the impression that indeed there is at least one person there working to undermine Neeld. I'm not putting up with that! -
You're going to judge the coach on what the players do on field? That's not entirely logical. We know that every player on the Melbourne list has a standard they can attain in terms of on-field performance. On the weekend most weren't even close to it. What's their excuse? Game plan too hard....maybe? But that should improve over the course of a season, lets see. If it doesn't and those same players are going up and down on the spot then they are the problem, not the coach. I like many others can see where the problem is with the playing group. Too many appear happy to just exist as AFL players without actually delivering anything tangible to supporters.
-
I knew some of our supporters would fall straight into jungle drum beating of Wilson and Thomas. I, like most others here welcome the attempt by Neeld at changing the culture within the footy club and we outside have to chill out for a bit and see how it unfolds. I am absolutely NOT backing the players. They have failed me/us repeatedly. They need to tow the line, fall in or get out. So real or imagined discontent, don't even go there!
-
True but I think it was a no brainer, even us outsiders could see there was something catastrophically wrong with the clubs on-field leadership. If the electors were indeed the playing group then I also don't think they would have been stupid enough to sign off on the same group.
