2020 Player Reviews: #5 Christian Petracca
Roger Mellie replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Absolute GUN Brilliant year and he should be very happy with what he's achieved. I think he has another level, which would be phenomenal! -
Petracca's just had a birds eye view of how the Pies promise the world then do a runner. Let's hope his manager is also Treloar's or Stephenson's.

Don't see it myself. Other than appearance, (size and hair) they strike me as quite different in playing style.

Who Will We Dislodge from the 2020 Final Eight?
Roger Mellie replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
When we win the flag, all the sides will have been dislodged by at least one spot! -
He has that rare combination of speed and endurance and cracks in. The kicking appears suspect but would be happy to see a little more if he's given another year.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Roger Mellie replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
ON AFL Trade Radio, North have offered Jadyn Stephenson a 5 year deal with talk of a 2nd round pick. How about Brown to Melb, Stephenson to North and our (worst) 2nd round pick to pies (because they're campaigners). -
Out with the new, in with the old for Geelong

Tom Phillips - Outside Skills and Speed
Roger Mellie replied to Simon Port's topic in Melbourne Demons
I get that you're gagging for Phillips for whatever reason, but for essentially a second round pick? You're dreaming! I 'd prefer to have at least one winger that could kick. This gives us none. -
A few of these potential wingers could be chained to Langdon over the preseason - Hunt, Harmes and Baker! Hunt and Baker have no tank and Harmes will get sucked into the contest. Langdon is superb at positioning and freeing himself around the contest. He could teach them a lot. I still think the only bona fide wing we have in the side (apart from Langdon) is Fritsch. I would be very happy for him to chain himself to the wing club too. Fritsch has the tank, speed, kicking skills, vision and nous for the job. He could also have stints in the forward line depending on needs.

That could be catchy "Side by side we stick together....except for Adam Treloar and yep, maybe Stephenson and Cox" Good old campaigners forever!

Why? His posting is always the same. All his posts are mares. I don't know are you can distinguish one from another.
-
I just don't see how he's lasted 7 years on any list. if he gets another contract, the bummers are in deep poo
-
I wouldn't be surprised if we have a ping at Jake Aarts. He strikes me as prime Goody role-player material
-
I agree, but I expect they're doing it on salary bump and medical grounds - physical (hamstrings) and possibly mental health

2020 Player Reviews: #46 Austin Bradtke
Roger Mellie replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've watched him play about 4-5 times and have posted each time. In the first couple of games I watched (spread over the first year) he got utterly rag-dolled and I expected that given his size, weight and absence from the game in his teenage years. I was looking for positives in his game and they were that he is by far the best kick of all the rucks at the time - probably akin to Tim English for kicking. The other thing was he appeared very clean below his knees for a giant stick insect and his dish offs were pretty slick. In one game he was pushed off the ball so easily it was almost comical. He then received instructions to jump over the other ruckman, which he did comfortably and evened up the score with whoever it was. He also never gave up - important! I confess, I'm still none the wiser on the ruck craft until he can get more size on him and experience (NB Max was a very ordinary ruckman until he worked out how to use his height to advantage and took the game a bit more seriously), but Bradtke looked much improved earlier this year and I'm hopeful that if the club can afford to hold onto him, while he develops, he could be a very decent player. Again, the closest I can think of as a comparison is Tim English. Luke Jackson might change this formula though. He has already leapt ahead given his many assets, but I could see a Jackson / Bradtke combo being formidable when Max retires. -
Some people here straight up have no sense of humour
-
No, but I would be very happy if it panned out that way!
-
He's wanted by the club and was offered two years. I'd be wanting a swap of third round picks to bring us into the 30s. We already have a bunch of useless 4th round picks for this year - we can toss one of those in too if they're not all required for rookie upgrades.

By offloading Adam 'Ping the String' Treloar

I think final payment for MCC membership is due in November this year. I presume they will transfer all the member renewals and payments after that date, rather than in dribs and drabs, particularly when there are no office staff.

Anyone know anything about Xavier O'halloran? Where does he play in the GWS midfield. He has the rare combo of speed and endurance and is a noted hard runner. Could he be our potential wing / outside mid? I don't know much about him (kicking skills etc) but he would be a lot easier to get from GWS and is also ex Vic Metro captain. @ChaserJ?

That works a treat!

I'm torn on this one. I want Essendon to get nothing and I want Carlton to pay through the nose.
