  1. My sense of the award is when an eligible player plays a great game, he gets nominated. When there are no outstanding candidates from the round, they'll award it to a player who has been consistently good over a few weeks or more. I think McVee's on the Mr Consistency list.
  2. I wish Schache could borrow Clarry's beast mode while he's out injured. It would solve all our tall forward woes, well at least until he had to give it back.
  3. Ground capacity around 20K Lol
  4. Agree with this and while he found a lot of the footy, there were too many fumbles and fend-offs neither of which translate to AFL level.
  5. Agreed. I thought earlier in the year his game was error-ridden but he's looking a lot more composed with the footy now and confident as a result.
  6. I have that same superpower Spurs! It's marvelous to be able to tune out of the commentary. I just hear the names of the players amongst the waffle. Every now and again something particularly irritating uttered by the clowns manages to slip through the force field though.
  7. Lol 6 May 5 Petracca 4 Salem 3 Sparrow 2 Viney 1 Jordon Stiff - Brayshaw, Bowey, Langdon
  8. Agree. I don't know if he's injured, out of form, getting pummelled in the ruck contest or a combo of all three. At the very least, he needs to work on his body language. It's poor and not a good look for a captain.
  9. I would be nervous about this game if St Kilda weren't so sihthouse. Go Dees - slot them through the big sticks!
  10. I disagree and think it was just May getting his comeuppance for being sloshed and arrogant. I'm hoping the players aren't becoming frustrated or disenchanted with their form over the last month. Most of all I hope they're still 'buying in.' How's the vibe at training @kev martin? For those going to the game, it would be great to know if the boys are chirping it up on the field.
  11. Given our tradition of jumper presentations, I wonder if it will be Woey Senior or maybe Mark Jamar? Either would be great.
  12. That's the spirit!
  13. There's no way he goes to the Suns right? From The Age today: Jeff Whiteโ€™s 16-year-old son Kalani turned heads playing at full-back for Gold Coastโ€™s Academy, while Mick McGuaneโ€™s son Thomas, Jade Greshamโ€™s brother Tyson, Troy Longmuirโ€™s son Taj, and Bodhi Uwlandโ€™s brother Zeke also played. White, who is already 197 centimetres tall and super athletic like his No.1 pick dad, is father-son eligible for Melbourne but also tied to the Suns, so a fight to sign him looms. The ex-Demonโ€™s twin sons, Kai and Tahj, are also showing promise in the under-12s, including the former being selected for the state team.
  14. Out: Harmes (congrats on 150 games), Fritsch, Smith In: Oliver, JVR, Spargo Sub - either keep Melksham only as sub as his lack of leg speed will be exposed on the dry deck at Marvel. Or, throw in Jordon if Oliver gets reduced game time or as back-up
  15. Agree JVR rested by not having to travel. Might be back in for the Saints. In and out of the game but had his moments. Jefferson - can take a decent grab and a ripper kick (including field kicking), but still a way off - yet to apply much pressure to the opposition. JJ had a great game and will push for selection again. Particularly strong first half with the Giants giving him plenty of room. Verrall - didn't take the field after half time. Hope it's not another injury.
  16. Jefferson? I appreciate your training reports but have you even seen him play? He had a good game today by his standards - not many touches, not very involved but a good effort with 4 goals. I discovered last week and today that he's also an excellent field kick. Having said that, he's miles far off a senior game. He's a stick insect and will need time to build up his body and application for AFL level.
  17. Watching the game last week against Geelong, I thought Geelong's pressure was implied. It was there but not fierce until the last quarter. The more the game progressed, the more I thought it was deliberate/planned by Scott - just keep the pressure up and watch them run themselves into the ground. As it turned out, we expended a ridiculous amount of energy for little reward and Geelong easily ran over the top of us when they turned up the heat in the last. Today, in the first three quarters we were again winning everywhere but on the scoreboard. We expended the same stupendous amount of energy for even less reward. We put ourselves under absurd pressure and got absolutely nowhere. GWS applied plenty more pressure than Geelong today, but I'm not sure we noticed as we were too busy running around in circles.
  18. Where will the revenue come from? I think the gambling sponsorship/advertising void will be filled by cryptocurrency - an equally sound investment proposition.
  19. We've potentially got Brown, Petty, Grundy/Gawn, Fritsch and Smith in the forward line at any one time. Don't need another tall on a wet day. As an aside, didn't Kossie kick a bag last year in Alice? I'd love him to hit his straps on Sunday.
  20. Agree! He's ready and much needed.
  21. In no particular order: McVee - Who'd a thunk? Apart from excellent disposal under pressure, this dude manages to extract himself and the footy from the most unlikely situations. His hand-eye coordination must be off the charts. He seems to always manage to paddle or toe-poke the loose pill away from his opponent. I love watching him in action. JVR - He keeps presenting and presenting and his follow-up is excellent. He's slotting them too and will get more rewards for his efforts in time. Rivers - He's taken his game to another level after what I'm sure he'd consider a disappointing 2022. Unfortunately his kicking hasn't followed suit, but I'm super excited about where his game is headed. Loving his intercept marks! Chandler - his stats indicate he's doing everything he should except slot them (Thanks Wheelo!). He's just got the yips and will be fine. His early games were outstanding (another Who'd a thunk?). He's a clever player and will get back to his best. Salem - A level above his form over 2021 and 22. We've got the old creative, slick Salo back!
  22. Ryley Sanders and Darcy Wilson might fall around Freo's first pick. Any thoughts on them? I'm in the 'we need more mids' camp.
  23. It'll be interesting to see if the bombers kick up a stink when they play there or remain dead silent like us.
