  1. My preference would have been to keep Hunt and offload Smith and or Melksham. I thought his game improved markedly in the last two years, particularly kicking despite the ungainly action. He was one of the few to lower the eyes on entering 50. I wish him the very best and will miss him and his afterburners.
  2. We trained there so much as our main training ground is inadequate. It didn't allow sufficient separation between players/staff and onlookers during Covid. The second reason we trained there so much is the ground was being resurfaced/widened until the middle of the year. I'm comparing apples with apples but feel free to knock yourself out finding the money spent on all Vic teams second training facilities for comparison.
  3. Essendon was $27m but not sure of the breakdown other than $4m+ from the club. Bulldogs have $44.8m (Govt) for stage 2 redevelopment for W.O.
  4. Incorrect - $2m I didn't include funding for 2nd grounds of other clubs (Eg. Geelong at Deakin, Richmond at Bundoora or wherever it is) so why should I include Casey?
  5. For example: Kardinia Park Upgrade Stage 5 - $142m Richmond Demolition of Punt Road & Rebuild $65m ($30m from Govt) North $10m - 2018 and $7m $2020 Saints $30m Carlton $30m for Ikon Park Redevelopment (Mix of state and federal funding) Hawthorn $20m - ($15m from feds, $5m from council plus an unspecified amount from state govt) Melbourne.......wait for it......... $2m
  6. I'll see your Gold Coast and raise you with one Collingwood Football Club, who enjoy a culture built around over-paying heart and soul players of the club, then dumping them to enable the retention of such role models as JDG. Spectacular salary cap management right there.
  7. I'm not surprised about Essendon - they're getting Alwyn Davey Jr this year.
  8. I think the money they're freeing up is to accommodate Jackson, but I would be more than happy to accept 7 from Freo as part of the trade (without the future first going back).
  9. Maybe we could compile a list of stuff made up by Cornes: 1) Kossie wants to go to Port
  10. WIth respect RTG, it doesn't mean he shouldn't either. My point was that mental health is a sensitive issue and I don't believe Beyond Blue in particular, nor Jeff's involvement in BB needs to be dragged through the mud by association. Jeff Kennett the HFC president is a different kettle of fish, so knock yourselves out. My opinion only.
  11. I would probably leave that well alone. I have no time for Jeff Kennett, but am aware that there are a significant mental health issues within his broader family.
  12. Spargo is criminally under-utilised by our players. They either can't see him or don't look. The number of times he's free and positioned himself well to receive the ball to deliver into the forward 50, or is in the forward 50 for a shot at goal, and isn't seen is comical. Have a look at our last game. Brayshaw has collected the ball out of the middle and is running toward the opposition goal. Instead of hand balling to Spargo (4 metres away, on his own and facing the direction we want to kick), Brayshaw, runs past him and kicks over his shoulder - turnover. Grrr!
  13. Weed needs Russell Roberston's old man to teach him how to mark. I remember Robbo saying he taught him how to mark and it was quite an odd method. But it worked and I'd try anything
  14. In the article above ⬆️ it says Freo are interested in Jeremy Sharp. He looked good in his draft year. Is he trying to get back to WA (requested a trade)? I wouldn't mind if the dees looked at him.Very strong runner IIRC?
  15. I just think there was an error in the title of this thread 'Tom Phillips - Outside Skills and Speed'
  16. Oliver May Petty Langdon Fritsch Spargo
  17. If you look up cat's bum mouth in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of Dimma!
  18. Why don't you compare apples with apples when lamenting Jackson's footballing ability/consistency? He's in his third year and has just clocked up 50 games - not bad for a ruck! Lets compare him with say Darcy Cameron - he's also just clocked up 50 games. The difference is, he was drafted in 2016 and debuted in 2018. Sam Draper, also drafted in 2016, is up to 43 games. Sean Darcy, also from the 2016 draft, tops the lot with 81 games. I'm sure in hindsight, many would have picked Sean Darcy a hell of a lot higher than pick 38. Imagine Jackson's tally after 6 years in the system. I don't believe it's reasonable to demand consistency from a third year ruck that's already way ahead of the pack. so long as he continues to develop and improve. His game's looking pretty good at the pointy end of the season too.
  19. I reckon 4 or 5 of those frees in 2021 were in the GF too! .......if he got 4 or 5 frees in the 2022 Grand Final, I'd be very happy.
