Where will the revenue come from?
Roger Mellie replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Where will the revenue come from? I think the gambling sponsorship/advertising void will be filled by cryptocurrency - an equally sound investment proposition. -
We've potentially got Brown, Petty, Grundy/Gawn, Fritsch and Smith in the forward line at any one time. Don't need another tall on a wet day. As an aside, didn't Kossie kick a bag last year in Alice? I'd love him to hit his straps on Sunday.

Agree! He's ready and much needed.

In no particular order: McVee - Who'd a thunk? Apart from excellent disposal under pressure, this dude manages to extract himself and the footy from the most unlikely situations. His hand-eye coordination must be off the charts. He seems to always manage to paddle or toe-poke the loose pill away from his opponent. I love watching him in action. JVR - He keeps presenting and presenting and his follow-up is excellent. He's slotting them too and will get more rewards for his efforts in time. Rivers - He's taken his game to another level after what I'm sure he'd consider a disappointing 2022. Unfortunately his kicking hasn't followed suit, but I'm super excited about where his game is headed. Loving his intercept marks! Chandler - his stats indicate he's doing everything he should except slot them (Thanks Wheelo!). He's just got the yips and will be fine. His early games were outstanding (another Who'd a thunk?). He's a clever player and will get back to his best. Salem - A level above his form over 2021 and 22. We've got the old creative, slick Salo back!

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Roger Mellie replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ryley Sanders and Darcy Wilson might fall around Freo's first pick. Any thoughts on them? I'm in the 'we need more mids' camp. -
It'll be interesting to see if the bombers kick up a stink when they play there or remain dead silent like us.

This is a given, but what I don't understand, is why play a top drawing earner at Tax Payer Park with a ground capacity of 21,000 when you could have pulled 60K+ at the G or even 40K+ at Marvel? Both venues were free on Saturday.

I've been thoroughly opposed to Dunstan getting promoted on the back of his disposal. While he can certainly find the footy, his disposal, for the most part stinks and stops him getting a gig. Last night though, he was spot on for the 90% of the game I saw. If he could keep that up he'd get games (Jeez he'd be handy as a sub with Oliver out) and I'd love to see more of it.
-
That's the perfect name for KP! Love it

I thought Dunstan's kicking was the best I've seen from him. He was quiet after a long stint on the sidelines, but apart from one or two howlers, he hit targets all night. He's an AFL option if this continues, once he gets his match fitness back. It was easily BBB's best VFL game. I'd have him back in next week for a forward target (or the following week if they don't want him to travel). Bowey and Tomlinson put their hands up as did Turner. Harmes' fend-offs might work at VFL level but he would have been pinged for every one of them at AFL level. He had a good game with a few fumbles and missed targets. I would happily have BBB, Bowey and Tommo in next week. Not sure who they replace yet. I'd also like to see Melksham get to 100 games as sub but not sure when.

Yeah I think Verrall will play as a ruck forward, but coming from a long layoff, he may be gasping on the bench more than resting forward. Really looking forward to seeing him play. Go you good thing!

We've got this. Geelong are reactive but hanging in there. So long as they don't get a run of shocking frees, we should hold out. Scoring would be helpful though.
-
Agree, we are well on top - just need to show it on the scoreboard. Can we swing Petty forward. Either way, subbing out a tall for Spargo should help.
-
I'm going for neither, with Petty and Smith being Plan B and C if needed down back. Might I add, this is a tremendous opportunity to kill two birds (cats) with one stone: 1) Be responsible for Geelong officially throwing in the towel on season 2023, and 2) Ruining the 300th game celebration of Chris Scott - a la Corey Enright GO DEES!
-
Tommo stiff but having rewatched the game, he was solid. Riv on Cameron anyone?

Deakin Uni (read Geelong FC) invested/received funding of $8m+ to upgrade their footy oval to exact MCC dimensions and orientation (as well as other sporting facility upgrades). Geelong trains there for finals and when they can't use KP. You may think that's great for Deakin Uni Football teams, but there aren't any in Geelong (only Burwood and Warrnambool). It's just for the cats.

That may be the case JM but I have total faith in the AFL system. I'm sure in next year's fixture, we will get the Sunday game following the bye and Collingwood will be heading down the highway to Kardinia Park for the Thursday night game against Geelong. The Pies won't have any issue with it either. Even if the seating capacity is still at 21,000, they won't have a problem with their 200-seat allocation.

Brisbane Pair Stand Down Amid Poor Form

Rich and Gunston are listed as 'Managed' tonight with the release of the teams. FFS if they have dropped themselves, they're omitted. Is this to make them feel better about it or is it as Buck suggests above - a six week 'management' program? -
FFS another McGuire! The day started so well too

Cerra, Zac Williams, McGovern, Jack Martin, Hewitt and Saad Saad goes ok

Schache had a great game last week playing forward and ruck (taking over from Bell) and kicking 4 goals. It was a good enough game to put his name in front of the match committee for tomorrow's game. Today he had a stinker. It shows the gulf between his best and non-competitive worst.

Our NGA prospect Orlando Turner is an emergency for the Allies. Hopefully he gets a gig in one of the games.
