  1. I think he has sone great afl qualities as well, but also has his deficiencies but as a role player he'd be an asset if he came as a cheapie that is for sure.
  2. Does sound like a NPC for sure
  3. Torn in this one — can finish which we DESPERATELY need but his def pressure isn’t there so if free is be a yes which he should be considering he hasn’t been offered a contract due to their interest in other players like Haynes etc but with them missing on a couple they might offer him a deal now
  4. Kennedy def fits the bill keys hope we go after him! Wade Derkson — as reported by afl.com.au & above is someone we have interest in and his hands are allegedly super-strong so watch that space could be a nice little get for not much & giants signed him up so they def saw something on him
  5. Sorry tagged wrong post.. but for those who say 'big deal, travel tie etc boo hoo - or No.31 "When looking for a new job (say it is an office job), do you look at the location, condition, style, facilities of the office, the building its located in and the area it is in?" -- You are missing the point, it is NOT an office-job, it is their life for a SHORT term and they want every advantage to make most of it while they can, so appropriate comparison would be 'do you take a job based on the amount of hours you work, the amount of advantages you get like better training, a laptop supplied, a phone, a gym, a daycare for kids etc..etc its also largely about convenience! Modern footballers want not only to aforementioned point on facilities: top-grade nutrition and equipment, recovery technology, and most of all -- work/life balance, it is extremely important to them, so asking players to join US when they can join a club with better facilities AND get 6-8hrs a week back in their time-poor lives is just putting the blinkers on... It is not only about current players, it is about our ability to recruit and to not have our big name players get envious of what they COULD have elsewhere! Casey isn't a full-blown facility anyways, so its mute! I agree in terms of 'who cares, just do it, you took the job etc' but the AFL workforce isn't like other workforces, it is elite and every single advantage is scrutinized by every single person via every tiny crack of every tile... and drafted players don't choose the MFC, they are drafted, so to keep them this stuff becomes super relevant and most of all to WOO new players, it is absolutely imperative. How many of you have actually seen Pies facilities? the meal space, the ridiculous fitness equipment and convenience, the tech? Plenty of youtube vids to watch to see a sneak-peek is enough to go, WOW!!! not to mention central location so players can do more collaborative extra work at club, have their medical appointments there etc etc it goes on and on! I'd love to hear it is signed off on, great!!! But it will not change our current or immediate future, only the next batch in 3-5 years most likely.
  6. I agree it'd be fantastic, IF it goes through! Albeit too late for current group, more to my earlier point. But well said!
  7. There is a host of reasons why Goschs won't work I am told, but I am currently ignorant of the detail. I would LOVE that to become a permanent home, but been old its not possible, largest reason being lack of indoor facilities required for FT home etc but there are a few others as well, mostly around space from memory, alongside shared tenancy obviously.
  8. Yes, Wright was appointed a while ago and it was announced 5wks ago. You don't remove Lamb unless you have a superior option, and even if you do it is still a move that doesn't make a lot of sense for me, list is NOT our problem whatsoever, but many on here have become a little spoiled and hurt which is fine, understandable! I'm certain I'd of been the same 5, maybe 10 years ago! No list manager could have foreseen the current challenges we face, In fact I cannot think of one contract outside of Clarry's right now (which I think will subside by round 4 next year when he is fit and healthy) that is an issue, whereas most other clubs have a multitude of those poor contracts. I also cannot think of a club that has more young talent signed up than we do!!!! All players ppl take issue with cost us Zilch, McAdam is a deal that is still to be determined, atm we paid slight overs, (Nibs) but again that is still redeemable 100%.. I'd love to hear some actual reasons, genuinely curious I am missing something!
  9. Forgive me for asking, but WHY?!?! Also, it sure ain't gonna happen NOW right ahead of draft and trade periods!!! Sure, he is definitely not as highly regarded as JT, but he is responsible for some excellent trades, especially draft related trades that set-up our list incredibly well. He is not responsible for lack of us being able to lure players, that is down to a plethora of things and for me most of all CASEY being the biggest issue right now... Unless Daniel Hoyne became available, or maybe 2-3 current AFL List Managers whom are firmly entrenched in their roles, there is no reason whatsoever to take as big a risk as this.. If Gus doesn't get knocked out in opening 10m of Pies final, we likely win a flag -- Are you even considering such a thing? If AFL doesn't screw us on Mac Andrew we'd have another HUGE piece to be excited about and arguably changed things this year as well.. Smith making his poor decision, Clarry and Trac issues... ALL more to do with our year than Lamby. I think were all rightly upset, but don't think throwing baby out with bath water is necessary just yet and I still think McAdam has a role to play next year, and Billings has added decent depth and finished year strong most of all injury free so another pre-season into him wont hurt either. We got him for nothing! Hunter is washed, but we still have a BIG recruitment drive ahead inc chasing pick 14 or other top 20 picks and a key fwd, mid depth etc so lets see what he does and judge it all in 10mths time.
  10. I don't think that is a so much a factor as you'd think, contract rules are different now anyways and we'd not pay out entire contract. If Goody was clearly not the man, we'd make the call. But to say he isn't, seems on all available evidence, ridiculous to me in all honesty. Definitely think he needs 1-2 new voices around him, esp in terms of game-style and nuance things like running patterns, transition especially but the results in finals show me we aren't far off at ALL given 3/4 remaining teams we ran within a goal in latter part of year and the other we BEAT in only meeting -- We are so close and have the talent coming through to elevate and most pertinently of all, if we get 90% doing 90% of pre-season I'd back us top 4 for all the money!!!
  11. I am now of FIRM belief KW is off to GC. Based purely on current state-of-play, and vibe! Despite feeling since he surfaced Jeff raised him right, it now just feels like another Mac Andrew and Ah-Mu face-slap!!! Lord I hope I am wrong.. but Mac still hurts, only solace I take was that on draft night I felt like one of few whom felt Mac would be a genuine Unicorn that'd take comp by storm, although now that kind of just feels like even more of a slap. AFL have absolutely rooted us, bloody disgrace.
  12. Indeed! and is NOTHING like Cale Morton, whom was nothing more than a tall mid, who's lack of speed, decision-making under any pressure and foot-skills somehow got glossed over by all and sundry!
  13. No mate, we offered LY and this Year Picks and way it has turned out means it is the largest offer ever made for one player/pick based on the points its ended-up accumulating at.
  14. Great to hear if true, but I have heard progression PR for yonkers -- let's be honest, the horse has now bolted for this group for it will be years before it is our home even once it is signed-off (IF it ever is).. Sorry, not having a crack at you whatsoever FreedFromDesire I'm just sharing my overall thoughts on the matter in general, as it is such an uber clear hamper for our overall clout not only as a destination, but in terms of chemistry, collective-vibe, team comradery and happiness etc we are basically now competing with one limb rendered non-functional! It is no surprise that ever since we started using Casey more, our overall performance has declined... Until it is fixed, I don't think we will ever know how good a side we are, that is how far I have come on this issue after hearing it from players and media time and time again, but most of all from support staff, whom constantly refer to it as being a genuine Mt Olympus for us to climb each year. Look, with all the recent re-signings, it is clear the common notion of things 'never being as bad or as good as they seem' being true, but the Petracca-saga - that is still going mind you - only further highlights how much of a stumbling block this is and how it impacts each player to some degree and most of all our ability to recruit. We might of gotten away with it back when may/Lever joined, as we had an exciting momentum building and it was not as big an issue for Casey was used sparingly and other clubs weren't quite so advanced. But right now, I honestly blv it is perhaps as big as a 5-15% hamper in terms of being at optimal performance across all club KPI's. That is a MASSIVE hurdle... lets hope that this current group can continue to work through it and have a massive pre-season to show that they can and indeed will be back firing on all cylinders -- but the time for rejoicing is when and if a new facility is FUNCTIONAL and for that, an absolute optimistic view would be 2027.. but more like 2028-30. I sincerely hope I am wrong on that, but at same time we ARE good enough to overcome it, but alas above it is indeed a harbinger of our next flag perhaps being more difficult than we could ever have imagined 18m ago!!! Apologies, but this one has been bubbling away for me for a time since before the wind and snow!
  15. Yep — that can be developed where kicking is generally set bar 5-10% lifts in good programs
  16. MUCH better kick not even close in that area but has a similar look and attack on the footy for sure!
  17. I’d kill for Smilie but hope seems lost as of right now — pick 2-4 seems the range for him now after a killer month, right when we landed pick 5 it was on cards but he’s dominated since and [censored] ahead of Langford, Reid.. Armstrong the one for me who now seems to sit right where we are in draft. Then a mid target if we get that other top 15 pick (14 the one we’re chasing atm)
  18. Macrae would be a good get for us and play a role week-in week-out and it surprises me we haven’t been seen as aggressive on this one but who knows, I still holdout a sneaky suspicion we could be a chance here. Not a game changer but a definite needs-based get if we went there — esp now Daniel seems to be staying. There’s still plenty of targets like Peatling to be done but more from finals teams as well, but our #1 strategy atm is definitely another top 15 pick in this bumper draft!
  19. Warner NOT an amazing pick at 38? Sorry that’s a touch silly for me.. that’s an incredible get! Agree their drafting overall is academy based but in isolation that pick was brilliant.
  20. That’s what the offer was mate šŸ’Æ fact
  21. Happy and confident on Membrey happening! Could be missing link from def to off we sorely need and won’t cost much. I was preying for Peatling he’s be such a massive boost but it’s a 1-7 chance atm it seems but media cannot get handle on where he wants to go so it’s still a small chance! Sidenote: just heard Cleary say Petracca still a watch.. fml šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø
  22. Armstrong is a guy to keep close eye on, if we can get pick 14 like we are trying to do that could be the midfielder spot if Armstrong does come into calculation — but again it’s a tough one cus we do need a gum mid with pace and a nice kick but if all of Reid, Smilie, Smith are gone pick 14 might nab a guy like Tauru w/Armstrong at 5. It is going to be intriguing — I was hoping for Smilie but seems like he’s gonna be pick 2-3 at present.
  23. Whilst it seems a few journos agree with you, there is NO WAY we’re splitting pick 5 and entering the Smith race — if could kick, MAYBE but losing a Smilie or even a Harry Armstrong is just not gonna happen! Pick 5 this year is like pick 1 many other years there’s that much talent split across the top 20 it’s insane!!!
  24. Lovely thought but glad we didn’t get him on that kind of crazy offer — wreaks of issues and if it was MFC it’d be widely muted as irresponsible— but we were likely the club that made GC put that offer to him already by sounds of it.. still really angry at this whole academy balls-up by AFL and can’t blv we haven’t sought compensation!!!
  25. Absolutely fair and with several outgoing players it looks like depositing are done which is one very small but good side effect of Nibbler, Gus horrors! Then Brown retiring & Tommo moving on with KFW & JS delisted were prob basically done with Hore waiting til end of trade period to hear his fate. Smith obviously still on list which seems a mute point to me now but if allowed to play next year I guess it makes sense but that while mess id rather just see forget the whole thing tbh. Hunter id expected to hear about by now but think surely that’s on cards. Continuity of list is a VERY good thing..
