READY FOR THE KILL - THE HAWTHORN GAME
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Youve missed the point WJ, it's not about today's game it's about the long term future of this club. I won't be commenting anymore on Watts/Grimes until after rd 22 when we're discussing trades. I think everyone is aware of my thoughts on these two.- 322 replies

READY FOR THE KILL - THE HAWTHORN GAME
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Absolute drivel. I could just as easily argue that those that want Watts and Grimes in the team want the team to fail simply by their inclusion. Watts form today has nothing to do with his debut as does Grimes form to do with being made the captain. They both excelled at junior levels and haven't made the transition, this is when most would argue they haven't been developed properly. This is when I would say they've had two pre seasons under Roos and one under McCartney and lots of other players are taking the step. Watts isn't being bullied or victimised he is simply under scrutiny like 800 other players are. If he doesn't like it don't play the game. Most of us have an emotional/financial investment in this club and have done for years, we're entitled to our opinion. Does this make us pathetic, no I'd say pathetic is reserved for those who go around labelling other posters on this forum.- 322 replies

Hold on a minute I distinctly remember him being involved in a verbal altercation with Rhyce Shaw after being subbed in.- 322 replies

Exactly, Watts has had 28 games under Roos, it's not like he hasn't tried. Problem is before Roos took over there was still that mindset of "under the right coach Watts will excel", that theory has now been put to bed. Time to cut our losses at seasons end, start looking for the next VB to bring in.- 322 replies

The way I look at it is as follows, Watts/Grimes/M.Jones/Bail are all but finished. JKH and Newton I believe will become good consistent players for the club long term but after Watts stuffing the "needs time rule" for everybody Roos has acted. Let's be honest even with our best 22 playing we'd still fall short. Whilst Grimes and co will be thinking they actually have something to offer the club onfield , truth be known they're just keeping the bench warm whilst players return from injury or spend a couple of games working on areas of their games in the VFL. Watts and Grimes to be traded at years end. Then they go to a new club and prove all of the doubters wrong. Problem is finding a club dumb enough to take them.- 322 replies

I agree, but if Viney/Jetta were available two would miss. Look at it this way, we need to give Grimes limited opportunities to showcase his wares to his new club.....Richmond.- 322 replies

I don't mind that. Bulldogs and Collingwood are both winnable games.

Not sure what I'm liking more, the WADA appeal and all that follows or some of the quotes on here. Some posters clearly doing some of their best work. -

Was thinking as much.

At only 22 he is of great importance to the side but next year (if not by seasons end) Hogan will be our most important player.

This is it Macca, we may get nothing we may get something. The next 24 months is crucial. Jumbo mentioned in another thread that the Hawks are targeting Petracca. Clubs will also target Hogan and McDonald. We can't afford to loose anyone unless we've decided that we don't want them. Trengove is out of contract and years end and depending on his foot could be offered a 1 year contract on stuff all, I reckon he would of done quite nicely over the past few years. Watts and Grimes are a real concern, we face the very real possibility that both aren't getting a game in the back half of the year yet remain two of our highest earners. If a trade was made with either player we might have to make a part payment of their wage. We might be lucky and find their contracts were front loaded. But if it's the option of keeping players like that or drafting the next VB I know which one I'd take.

Why is this Stretch kid even playing when we've got Watts and Grimes in our side. This is a joke, sick of this club.
-
Bizarre....how so? He's being made to undrrstand what "non negotiables" are and what they mean for the team.
-
Not sure if Tmac would be in that bracket yet(but will be for his next contract).Something needs to happen with Grimes at years end. Can't half someone taking up good money sitting in the two's. If first year players are getting a game before him it's time to go. Trade table beckons.

Eddie threatens to quit over equalisation proposals
Bombay Airconditioning replied to mdemonski2's topic in Melbourne Demons
Does anyone know about the fixture? I thought the idea was you play the teams twice that finished in your third of the ladder the previous year. -
I'm in the bunker in NSW. After watching North put another nail in Hardwicks coffin it's time to cook some dinner then settle in to watch the Dees.
