  1. Fair point, I'm not so worried and I say that because I think the players that are 23-24 years of age or younger are the ones that have all bought in and that's where 85% of the talent on the list is. This season could mark the end of the road at Melbourne for a few senior players, we have some who are very talented but don't apply themselves, we have those who apply themselves but don't have the talent and we have a few overrated ones as well. When we are really pushing for finals and hopefully winning them it will be on the back of the current group of 18-24 year olds.
  2. Some good points. Mad for how people view the club we only have to look at the losses to both Essendon and Carlton. Whilst the win against Geelong was massive for so many reasons how much do we take out of it with follow up games like the ones mentioned.
  3. Now when your in a thread and a new reply notification appears you have to go out of the thread and back in to read any new posts??
  4. Adelaide - 1 Brisbane - 2 Bulldogs -3 Carlton - 4 Collingwood -5 Essendon -6 Freo - 7 Geelong - 8 GCS - 9 Giants - 10 Hawks - 11 Melbourne - 12 North - 13 Port - 14 Richmond - 15 Saints - 16 Swans - 17 West Coast - 18 Using Adelaide as an example. Year 1 - play teams 2 through to 18 once = 17 games. They would then play teams 2 - 6 again giving them another 5 games played and a total of 22. Year 2 - play teams 7 through to 6 once = 17 games. They would turn play teams 7 - 11 again giving them another 5 games played and a total of 22. Year 3 - play teams 12 - 11 once, 12 - 16 twice. Year 4 - play teams 17 - 16 once, 17 -5 twice. And so on.... This tells you what teams play what teams and how many times per year. Games wouldn't be played in that order, that way games such as Anzac Day, Dream Time and QB can still happen on their respective days. Home games rotated (may take 2 years). For me this is the fairest draw but it will never happen for the obvious reasons.
  5. How come when someone quotes someone the poster who is being quoted doesn't have their name appear. Cheers
  6. Grimes was dropped for the opening few rounds last year only coming in after injuries to others. He was dropped twice again during the year before succumbing to injury. Considering his disposal and decision making hasn't improved that much I think he's cooked. He's part of the reason we get bogged down in out backline. As we try to advance as a group we need flexibility, I would also try players like Stretch and ANB along with White off half back. Essentially Grimes is the new Jordie, can't fault his application and the way he goes about it but his skills aren't up to it. Playing off half back he needs to be damaging by foot and he's not, blame coaches for gameplan and culture but not his inability to kick the footy.
  7. Good point, some players simply thought that by Roos coaching they would become a better side, they didn't realise that they had to put in as well.
  8. BB I'm happy they got done as I think they deserved to. I don't have any sympathy for them and I hope Jobe looses his Brownlow. I understand and agree that Monfries could have chosen to say something during his medical/interview with Port but chose to say nothing, just as no one tells their employer if they use recreational drugs. I just think their legal team will work that angle. Having said that if I was the defense I would simply argue "would it have changed your decision as you went on to pick up Ryder anyway".
  9. I think there is a case for Monfries but that's where it ends.
  10. If we can't beat them this season at any stage we haven't developed as a side. We should be lining them up for a royal pantsing.
  11. My thoughts with regards to averages when applying them to football is what are the variables. When comparing two players averages on a stat like rebound 50's I would consider how many games the two played together/individually and the quality of opposition for those games. Then i can get a greater appreciation for the worth of the stat.
  12. I don't think we should play Hogan/Dawes/Pedo all in the same forward line. It's too much, we need another mid instead IMO. Yes Hogan will be targeted, that's where Watts and Pedo need to really step up. Whether it is Pedo or Dawes we really need some consistency, as we know both were injured at different stages last year. PETRACCA HOGAN GARLETT WATTS PEDO KENT When Gawn goes to the bench Pedo plays ruck and we can put another mid (VB/KENNEDY) up forward for a couple of minutes and mix it up a bit. If teams look to double team Hogan and Pedo can just hold his own and be competitive enough to warrant watching Watts could/should run riot.
